Zepher Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Boomingham removes the rug 100% tablecloth style with a powerful whisk of his great arms.
Waterbrick Down Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 OoC: Sorry got called away to dinner, this is Heroica not mafia after all. Nur realizes that what he thought was a potion, is merely a lamp illuminated by some bioluminescent creature contained within. Boomingham attempts to throw the rug away but to his surprise, it actually attempts to take a bite out of his arm! The party can hear a faint call for help and realize that Balthazar Bluehood is actually inside the rug! PREPARE FOR BATTLE! The Enemy: Enchanted Bear Skin Rug Type: Beast Level: 20 Health: 1250/1250 Defense: 2 Special: I. Maw of the Beast- The enchanted rug actually swallows its attacker. The Party member will remain there until the rug is defeated or another party member pulls them free, sacrificing both of their own turns to do so. Up to 3 members can be swallowed at a time. Swallowed players may not attack/heal while swallowed. However, swallowed players will take half the damage received by the rug while they are Swallowed (i.e. rug takes 30 damage, swallowed player(s) will take 15 damage). II. Rage of the Beast - The enchanted rug does 15 damage to its attacker regardless of row and imparts the Afraid effect to its attacker. *Special will alternate one after another. Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Noting the irony of the fact that Lawrence has now been right twice despite his utter disregard for courtesy, I leap back from the door I was attempting to open and take up a battle stance. Standing atop the rug, now, I draw back my Briar Bow and fire an arrow down into the Enchanted Bear Skin Rug's head from the Back Row. Order of Actions: Bartholomew Docken Lord Lawrence Boomingham En Sabah Nur Jess Islanti Haldor Skovgaard
Sisco Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "..." "Wow. That's one Hell of an enemy!" Taking a stance next to Haldor, Jess prepares for battle. Jess will attack from the front row.
Zepher Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "Spies, traitors. Someone must have planted that rug so it would eat Blue Hood. Good thing I said to come here or the thing may have digested him. Bleh. Well, what are you waiting for. The thing is clearly demon spawn, Lawrence, you can go ahead and kill it." "Thanks for the blessing," Boomingham grumbles. "I'm glad you're okay with selective killing." "Of course. The virtuous are always responsible to eliminate evil." Boomingham raises his Shadeux shield. He had been hoping to run into Umbra at the docks. No such luck. Just magical heads and rugs. "Alright blokes, behind me. Nur, Docken, stick to the far reaches of the shop, don't let it near you." Boomingham slashes at the rug with his King of the Desert from the front row. "Docken, what would you prefer? This baby will singe if I use my King of the Desert, but he'll be stunned for a turn - near frozen solid - if I use my other blade. What's your call, sir?"
Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "Docken, what would you prefer? This baby will singe if I use my King of the Desert, but he'll be stunned for a turn - near frozen solid - if I use my other blade. What's your call, sir?" "Both Fire and Ice are strong against Beasts, while Darkness is neither strong nor weak, so the Elemental Damage would be equal. I don't see any reason not to use the Frozen Saber and try to Stun the thing at the same time."
Zepher Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 OoC: Despite it's name, the Frozen Saber is not a ice elemental, but rather a light one. When I get my hands on an opal, that will change, but for the time being...
Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 OoC: Despite it's name, the Frozen Saber is not a ice elemental, but rather a light one. When I get my hands on an opal, that will change, but for the time being... OoC: I really should've read that more carefully."We've got two healers. For now, let's start this off with as much Damage as possible. If we start to lose Health, then you might want to consider switching to the saber to Stun the thing."
Jebediahs Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 En Sabah Nur hops away from the lamp and consumes a vial of Smelling Salts. He pelts the Enchanted Bear Skin Rug from the back row with an earth spell.
Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Reviewing the circumstances in my mind, I have a flash of inspiration: OoC: Can we attempt to pull Bluehood out of the rug, seeing as we can pull each other out? Or would that ruin the challenging enemy you have prepared?
Waterbrick Down Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 The Party perceives that Balthazar has been stifling for quite some time in the rug and only upon defeating it shall he be released. With a mighty burp the enchanted rug belches forth allowing the party to catch a glimpse of the ensnared mage. Docken figures that if 4 of the heroes link hands they can fish the elderly gentleman out of the maw of the beast though they will all lose 1 turn doing so.
Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 OoC: But we'd still have to beat the rug in battle, right? If so, it's not worth the wasted Round. And I'm sure the party will want to get their hands on what appears to be an artifact, anyways.

Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 You will still have to beat *rimshot* the rug, but I won't have anyone say I don't reward creativity in some manner OoC: Haha, fair enough. I turn to the rest of the heroes. "I'm thinking that we have to beat the thing anyways, and if we do pull him out first, we might be forced to protect him during the battle, and this is already a winnable battle in which we don't really need reinforcements, so I say we beat the rug first."
Scorpiox Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "Personally, I prefer it when the furniture doesn't try to kill me, and after all the hard work that we did. Well, nothing for it. We'll have to break this rug, hopefully with more luck than against those storage tanks."Haldor walks forward and attemps to stamp on the head of the rug from the front row. "Don't you touch my Jess, or I'll tear you into little pieces and sell you as a multitude of exotic hats, not that you'd have much chance against her anyway. Hmph, why am I talking to a rug now?!"
Waterbrick Down Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) Results of Round One of the Battle with the Bear: >Bartholomew Docken vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Maw of the Beast) Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Meditate En Sabah Nur consumes Smelling Salts >En Sabah Nur vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Critical Hit Hit Jess Islanti vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Critical Hit (No Assassination) Haldor Skovgaard vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Extra Critical Hit Docken perched upon the back of beast is suddenly shook off and to the party's horror, swallowed alive. Boomingham prepares to attack with the King of the Desert but all of the sudden seems lost in thought whether meditating upon what to do with the Party leader now indisposed or Barty's opinion upon selective killing he regains 1 ether though he is already full. Nur, Jess, and Haldor rain down incredible blows upon the rug. Nur pulling loose brick and mortar from the walls unleashes a deluge of stone and dust upon the beast. Jess hacks away with her longsword while Haldor attempts to crush the beasts skull with a mighty stomp. To their dismay however the party realizes that while they are pummeling the rug Docken inside is taking quite a beating, his muffled cries growing softer and softer until he is unfortunately knocked senseless from his Party members enthusiasm. Zepher Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Boomingham stares at the rug, shocked. Docken had been with them seconds before. "Get out of my head, Barty," Boomingham bellows. "I don't need thoughts of Ennoc now. Or ever, for that matter. Nur, since you're speedy and all, I'd appreciate it if you'd pull our leader out of the jaws of the beast. We're going to need him, that beasty is still doing well, even with your hits. Haldor, bring him back with your Phoenix essence, would you? I can do more damage than you with my King of the Desert. Jess, you're sticking with me for a full forward attack." Boomingham raises his sword and slashes at the creature from the front row once more. OoC: Boomingham is bossy, I'm not. If you don't agree with my suggestions, ignore them. I won't be offended, pinky promise.
Jebediahs Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 OoC: LOL oops Nur spots an opening and removes Docken from the rug's Maw. He drags the party leader to safety before uncorking a Phoenix essence. The fumes cause the warden to stir as Nur forces the life giving elixir down the unconscious hero throat. OoC: No worries Haldor, I have three. With your barbarianism I think you do more dmg than me anyway. Need an order of actions, bossy man.
Brickdoctor Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I struggle to free myself from the rug, while hoping that my Shield will protect me. As stars appear and the world begins to turn black, I make a note to myself that if I am revived, I will shoot the Enchanted Bear Skin Rug in the soft flesh of its mouth as I'm pulled out, using my Briar Bow from the Back Row.
Scorpiox Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Haldor lifted his foot off the rug's head, and was surprised as the strong silent Docken was whisked into it's maw. He saw Nur crouching down to tear the beaten Warden from the mouth of the beast and bring him to his feet."Ah, sorry if that was me Docken, hopefully there is no lasting damage. I feel as though today happens to be Global Angry Evil Bearskin Persecution and Extermination Day, and we ought to cash in on the event by eliminating our local demonic rug. Help yourself to this fine specimen Jess!" Haldor brings his rod down heavily right between the enchanted rug's eyes, from the front row.
Sisco Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "Whoops. Well, all's well that ends well. Let's see if I can sneak behind and assassinate this beast..." Jess will attack the bear rug from the front row.

Waterbrick Down Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Results of Round Two of the Battle with the Bear: En Sabah Nur Frees Bartholomew Docken from the Bear Skin Rug En Sabah Nur uses Phoenix Essence on Bartholomew Docken >Bartholomew Docken vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Rage of the Beast) Lord Lawrence Boomingham vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Shield (Guardian Angel) Jess Islanti vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Damage (No Assassination) Haldor Skovgaard vs. Enchanted Bear Skin Rug - Special Damage (Maw of the Beast) Special Guard fails En Sabah Nur rushes forward and drags the limp Docken out of the beasts jaws while at the same time reviving the Party leader with a Phoenix Essence. The Rug roars at the escaping ranger, slashing his claws at Docken, but the warden's shield comes to his aid absorbing most of the blow. Docken remains Afraid in the back row, intact but still shell shocked from the experience. Barty now in quite a tizzy with how poorly the heroes are performing, works himself into a conniption as he uses his limited angelic powers to shield the party for the next round. Jess attempts another assault upon the rug, but stumbles back as the beast inflicts a gruesome gash upon her side. Haldor concerned for his wounded love steps in to ensure her safety, but unfortunately steps too close to the beast and is himself trapped within the enchanted rug's insides. The enemy is still strong yet the Party is gaurded from all harm for the next round. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! Sisco Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Jess stumbled back as the demonic rug gashed her as she attempted to get at its sweet spot. "Gah! Blasted ru-" Jess cut off as the maw swallowed Haldor whole. "Haldor!" Jess, perhaps a little mad due to her love being swallowed, dug her arms into the gaping mouth of the beast, and pulled Haldor out.
