Scubacarrot Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Wow, bit disappointed these are real, to be honest. Oh well, what can you do... Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I did think it was a hoax at first, given the strange way this news surfaced. Seems that they're real though. It's a shame they aren't available elsewhere... I'm sure plenty of people would like a set, even if they're not in the UK. Quote
Darth Dino Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I doubt that the figs will be visual through the bags. It goes against all of the CMF series made so far. These are great! I hope I can get my hands on some of them. Perhaps EB needs an Olympic CMF contest? Well, the previous pics showed bags that didn't seem to be transparent, so I'm betting they won't be. Hi bad news for me. Seems to me that i will have to get a whole sealed box to get all the figs. But i can easily imagine that there where not enought fresh boxes for all "workd suppliers" collectors and army builders. Do you get a discount if you buy the whole box? Dino Quote

You must not have bought any CM before. It's pretty easy. You just feel them for their hats or hairpieces and accessory. There are some tutorials online if you need more help. Quote

Dino No, but you get a free box! If I were you, I'd just try to learn how to feel the packets to determine the contents (or, since you're in Germany, find some helpful EBer in the UK to get them for you, as I think I'm going to have to do). TheLegoDr Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Glad to see they've been confirmed, although I was kind of hoping they might not all have gold medals as it would have been a good opportunity for some silver/bronze ones too. Clearly, TLG thinks GB will sweep the events! No room for silver or bronze medals here.. These do look really neat. Not too many new things, but the idea of them is a good selling point. I'm definitely interested in some of them, but it might not be worth the expense to ship the few figures I do want overseas. We shall see. Quote

Hi unfortunately i am pretty bad in feeling the packets. It tooks me more than 2 minutes to differ an Aztec (helmet) from the Galaxy Patrol (amor piece). And if i do so, i still have viking girls (skirt piece) aboard ;) While i am no native speaker, do i understand right, a "free box" means an EMPTY free box that comes with the bag i buy? ;) Or do you mean an additional "full" box? Dino Quote

Dino Oh, no, I'm sorry; I didn't mean to give you the wrong impression. I just meant that if you buy a whole box of minifigures, you get the minifigures and their packaging, plus the box they come in. It was just a little joke. Quote

Flobnomdob Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) The Archer is the only minifig I really want, but I hope to get a couple just to be patriotic. But I wish the Equestrian didn't have 'Team GB' printed on her torso, otherwise that torso/leg combination would be perfect for steampunk or old fashioned MOC's! escortmad79 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Few more images: Just missing the tennis player Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Few more images: Just missing the tennis player Thanks for the pics. I hope that the sport figs that we haven't got yet in CMFs and that are included in this special release appear later in regular CMFs, without any specific colors. Quote
Legobrandon Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I wonder if the gymnast actually comes with the two 1x1 bricks and the 1x4 plate? Quote
marvinblue Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Hi all! Would it be safe to assume 60 figs per box, making the price of a box £120? Quote
Rufus Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Few more images: Thanks. Archer and Boxer added to first post. Quote
BeKindRewind Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 As a completist, I would love to have every one of these minifigs, but I don't even want to know what kind of prices the whole set will cost me here in the US. That being said, I need to pick up at least one of the female Judo fighters, just because it's someone for my Series 1 Karate fighter to spar with. And I'm fascinated by the swimmer. I can only imagine the MOCs using a bare chest dripping with water Does anyone know if this is the official Series 9? The initial (blurry) pics actually had Series 9 printed on them. Does that mean the rest of us will skip from Series 8 to 10? Quote

BeKindRewind Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) Ahh... On closer inspection you are correct. I can't actually read the words under the big number "9" on the original pics, but it clearly doesn't say "Series" so yes, I'm sure it's just referring to the 9 minifigs. Cave Bear Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Wow, kinda surprised these are actually confirmed! But hey more minifigs so what am i complaining, might pick up a lot of these and if anyone can't get these I'm willing to pick them up for people . Quote

"9 to collect"; it's similar in style to the normal CMF series "16 to collect" tag and approximately on the same place in the box. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 My favorite one is the boxer. It's great to get a blue one. Quote
Minifig_Matt Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I think the Team GB minifies are a great promo tie in with the Olympics. Would like to get some here in OZ! I really like the weightlifter, equestrian rider, Some others I personally would like to have seen - a hurdle for the runner - a fencing character - a javelin thrower - target shooter MM Quote
has a differing opinion Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Here is my thoughts on the olympic minfigures: Judo:At first, I wasn't very interested in this one, but she could be a good parts pack, considering her hair is exclusive, as is her "patriotic" gear. She could also pass as a ninja in training Swimmer:I wasn't interested in this guy, but now I see some great parts on him. The hat looks good for a promotional beanie for olympic spectators, and the torso would be good for a shirtless version of the olive green dino hunter. Gymnast:Not much to say about her, except for the hair and shirt. Weightlifter:The torso could make a pretty good uniform, for what, I don't know yet.... The face looks good for a war hero, and I'm glad to see the return of the round weight in blue. Equestrian rider:Not interested in this one. Relay runner:White short bar! And awesome leg printing! Not much else to say, though. Tennis player:I like his shirt, could also be a promo item, and I need a tennis racquet. In case a zombie attack happens. Boxer:I just had a thought:Perhaps the original boxer could be slightly recoloured to be a boxer from another olympic team, so he could oppose the team gb boxer? Archer:My favourite of the bunch, due to his amount of good pieces. The normal bow hasn't been seen in black for ten years, the torso could be used as any holster(Assuming you brasso the lion), and the face is perfect for many roles, mine being an adu jetcopter pilot who has a secret backup plan. All in all, I think this is a very good series for parts, and I hope it is repeated for the winter olympics. Quote
Bricksan Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Just been sent the official press release from LEGO: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/official-team-gb-minifigs-launched/ A couple of points worth noting, one they are called TEAM GB MINIFIGURES not Olympic, different license plus The Team GB LEGO Minifigures will be in available from July 2012 in the following stores: Argos, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Hamleys, WH Smith, John Lewis, Smyths, and Toys R Us.
