Rumble Strike Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Tarn knew he was living on the edge of his luck - any he hadn't been very lucky in a long while. "Should I take a potion, or do you want me to try and finish one of these contraptions?" he asked the party. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) "OK! Poletad here wants to be put first to heal Tarn and thinks Nyx is pretty. As you can see Nyx, now I can hit Roger and Guard F with my crossbow, hopefully killing them!" Shoots Guard C and F with crossbow. Edited May 8, 2012 by VolcanicPanik Quote
Zepher Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 RumbleStrike, please either attack or don't! Thanks, sorry for the wait everyone. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Sorry Zeph. Thought I might get some advice from my team, but evidently not As William communicates that the Frog Paladin will try to heal him once again, Tarn decides to risk it, and attacks Chimera Guard D from the front row. Quote
Zepher Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) No, that's fine, I would prefer they chimed in too, but they're apparently not. Round Three of Chimera Guard Battle Sir Poletad heals Tarn - Shield Tarn v. Chimera Guard D - Miss Nyx v. Chimera Guard B - Hit (No Summon ) Thothwick v. Chimera Guard A - Critical Hit Harkenshire v. Roger - Shield Harkenshire v. Chimera Guard F - Miss Chimera Guard E - Free hit on Poletad (-6) The battle continues. Poletad prays to his god, and his god is kind, healing the entire party by 15 points! Tarn, shocked at his new and improved state, does not hit his target, though Nyx is able to destroy Chimera Guard B quickly, frying his circuitry. Thothwick flings his weapon from the back row. It embeds itself in the Chimera Guard, which now clanks every time it moves ((5x2)+15=25). Harkenshire fires three shots, hitting Roger, Chimera Guard D, and Chimera Guard E (-17 each). The untargetted Chimera Guard slams into Poletad and dashes him on the rocks (-6), but he bravely hops back onto his feet. Rumble Strike Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Not knowing if Sir Poletad can understand him, Tarn gives the plucky frog a thumbs up at the great healing job before hurtling towards Chimera Guard D from the front row once again. Quote
Pandora Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 "Sir Poletad, thank you, you're a very brave frog for stepping forward and healing us. Please, tend to your wounds while we finish these monstrosities." "I'm talking to a frog. " Nyx thinks to herself "But he's one hell of a plucky little guy." Nyx bows her head once more, focusing her Lightning magic against Chimera Guard A from the back row. She can feel the bloodlust of a fellow barbarian spirit in Tarn as he charges, and she adds this inspiration to her focus. Quote

Zepher Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 OoC: I forgot to change the miss to an aim last round. But I think after this round it doesn't matter much. Sorry, you got to keep an eye on me VP, I always forget that. Round Four of Chimera Guard Battle Sir Poletad v. Guard F - Miss Ribbit Tarn v. Chimera Guard D - Hit Nyx v. Chimera Guard A - Shield (No Summon) Thothwick v. Chimera Guard A - Critical Hit Harkenshire v. Chimera Guard E - Shield Harkenshire v. Chimera Guard F - Damage Sir Poletad starts the round with a loud and resounding ribbit, restoring one ether to each party member. Tarn further damages Chimera Guard D (-23) and Nyx smashes into Chimera Guard A, which cackles as lighting courses through it's gears, and then is smashed by a book, the force of which literally flings it into pieces. Thothwick instead charges Chimera Guard D, lopping off it's head, and William Harkenshire fires three times, putting down the final two Chimera Guards. The Battle is Victorious! Professor Flitwick Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 "Very good battle chaps. Firstly, an Ether Core and a Tonic to Ms. Nyx. Mr. Harkenshire, Mr. Tarn, are either of you planning on utilising Ether when you are trained by the Copper Fox, or should I save these for the Witch?" Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 "My mentor Rystael is a Cleric and I am sure he would want me to train as a Shaman. However I do not see that path for myself, so I do not need the Ether Core. I would see it given to Atramor." Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 For the third time on their Quest, Thothwick clasped his hand to his head, this time losing balance and falling on his back. "Claw and Mane? Whomever these villainous brigands are, they're going to sacrifice a Dragon, to help summon the Chimera..." Brushing the dust of his clothes, and straightening himself out, Thothwick turns to the party. "Let us make haste. We might not have long to avert this." Quote
Zepher Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 <Sir William, maybe this would be a good time to mount your horse! He could help with the steep terrain. Also, please tell Tarn I was ever so impressed by his bravery on this quest and will be sure to tell Ella of it when we return! She is also well versed in my language! Also, tell Nyx I didn't know she could hit that hard! I am very impressed by her style!> Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I mount my horse. "I care not for fancy Ether items. Keep then for Atramor. So, Poletad here says that Tarn was cool and that he (Poletad) likes Nyx's style." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Tarn grins at the Ranger. "Of course I am cool. In combat I have bloodlust pounding through my veins and a mighty axe, but I am just one man. It is all of you who keep me true and staying the course. We are a team. Now let's stop this dragon sacrifice. What powers are there in this world that would require such a thing? My blood runs cold just thinking about it." Quote
Zepher Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 <I do not wish to intrude, sirs, but my limited grasp of the human language makes it sound like you're going to go stop some of the other cultists. Please remember that we don't have much time to save Mallelio! We must go now! If you want to stop both the Dragon Sacrifice and Mallelio's death, you will have to split up! I think we can do that, but we will have to be in two places at once or commit to one cause!> William translates, to save time. Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 "I believe it is imperative that we stop the Chimera from be resurrected. I will go to attempt to stop the Dragon's sacrifice. However, I recommend that the majority of us try to save Mr. Mallelio. Would one of you like to accompany me?" Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 "For my part, I would see Malellio rescued, Mr Thothwick. I again caution that it is unwise to split the party. However every man must chose his destiny, I understand that." Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 "Ooh! Pick me! I want to stop cultists!" Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 "I understand, Mr. Tarn, but we have the ability to save many more than just Mr. Malellio." "Ooh! Pick me! I want to stop cultists!" "Excellent. Let us make haste, Mr. Harkenshire. Before we depart, I shall apply some deadly venom to my Shuriken. May Orang Pendek guide you, Mr. Tarn, Ms. Nyx, Mr. Poletad." Quote
Pandora Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 "Thanks very much for the Tonic and the Ether Core!" shouts Nyx at Thothwick and Harkenshire as they make haste to stop some cultists. She looks around and smiles broadly "Sir Poletad, Will translated some of your messages, I hope you can understand me: I am greatly flattered by your compliments and I take this moment to say that it is an honour to fight by your side. So Tarn, I think we will fight harmoniously and synchronously, as we both tap into our Barbaric nature. It comes much easier to you, I can tell, but I am learning to channel its force, so this is a good opportunity for me to pick up some tips. Now, are we rested and ready? We should find Mallelio as soon as we can." OOC Sorry for the delay replying, I'm in Billund Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Tarn spoke in a low voice to Nyx. "I can see there is a steel to you, Nyx. You are a beautiful yet deadly flower. You may not have started out a Barbarian but now you hear the siren call of bloodlust and combat nonetheless. It will get stronger now, that side of you. Don't let it take over completely. There is much I do not understand about Mages and the magic arts; the powers of the elemental gems are about my limit. But if you harness both sides of your spirit then with your mastery of magic you will be far more powerful than a simple barbarian such as myself." Quote
Zepher Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) Thothwick and William head off to face Mane and Claw, who they realize they recognize from the cave. After waving their good byes, the party follows Sir Poletad to the top of the mountain. They are greeted by an eerie sight. Miss – Ribbit: All party members regain one ether. Sphinx stands over an unconscious Mallelio, who is placed gingerly on an alter. Sphinx smiles at the heroes when they arrive, though the smile seems serious and smug. "Hello, and welcome to the great fate! Heroes, you have come to to witness the greatness here in Dastan You have come to bear the news home, when the time comes. You have come to see a goddess rise! Rejoice. You get to witness the birth of something of real power, heroes." He stops, and changes tacks. "Heroes, I know what you're thinking, but I'm not delusional. I know what you're truly here for. Or what you think you're here for. You think that you're here to save these little advisers and little prophets... but that's not true heroes. You see, the world is larger than that. It has a direction. Everything happens for a specific reason, and it all culminates in the rising of the Chimera. That's the worlds fate. You'll grow to see it. Yesterday, I lost Gottfried. A loyal disciple, high up in the order. But there were no tears shed for him or by him. It's what was supposed to happen for the Chimera to rise... or it wouldn't have happened at all. Today, Calibor is bringing home our newest Lion Knight. And the outcome of that, whatever it may be, will be what was supposed to happen. Just as this battle will end as it was supposed to. I can't pretend to know the greater picture, heroes, but there is one, and I submit to it. You're part of that picture too. So I welcome you. What do you want, heroes? What is your job in the will of the world? How will you help the Chimera rise?" What would the party like to say to Sphinx? Edited May 10, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) Tarn shouts, his voice carrying to where Sphinx is standing on the altar. "Your words are spoken with conviction, Sphinx, I will grant you that. You clearly believe what you say, that this Chimera will herald a new dawn, that we all have a place in the greater picture. Well, your own 'greater picture' ends with my fist pounding your face! Release Malellio, and it will not have to come to that!" Edited May 10, 2012 by Rumble Strike Quote
