Zepher Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 OoC: To speed this along (sorry to rush you guys, but the side-quests/other quests sort of mandate it at this point ) could you both, along with your next attack, state if you'd be okay with me auto-playing a few rounds under the assumption that Poletad will heal you? Say an amount of health that you'd like to stop attacking once you reach too. Sorry and thanks! Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Sorry Zeph, this must be really hard, juggling so many different things! I QM newbie quests and I find that hard! Tarn grimaces as the fire burns him yet again. He readies Halbaerend and attacks Sphinx from the front row. I'm not sure about auto-running the rounds, as Tarn is practically KOed by a Damage hit if it occurs, with the burning and the new special. Not much margin for error. Would a Remedy stop the burning? Quote
Pandora Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 "I see no sense in risking having us both near to death, Tarn; I would be in the same position as you might be if I take damage in the back row. Thus I will remain in the back row and hit our Froggy friend with my healing staff, and ask that Sir Poletad heals me in return, leaving him free to hopefully heal you next round while I attack, if needs be. Edgar will attack Sphinx from the front row." Party Order: Edgar Sir Poletad Nyx Tarn It's really difficult to mandate for the next few rounds, especially as each round we have the burned effect to consider. Edgar will just keep attacking, but ideally Nyx should have enough health to cover [Damage+Special(if necessary)+(Burned damagex2) - ie 15 health, to allow for a failed heal. Quote

Rumble Strike Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Both Tarn and Nyx should be at full health due to our Natural Respite, "Great work, Nyx! You truly are harnessing both sides of your spirit!" said Tarn, in awe of the Battle Mage, and not for the first time. "And you, Sir Poletad, you were also a valiant hero!" he adds, not sure if the Frog Paladin can understand him but certain that he would get the sentiment. "That's 3 of our charges protected now, let's get Malellio down and take Sphinx into custody." Quote
Zepher Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) OoC: You may all post in this thread again. Sphinx leans against the rock face huffing and puffing as the heroes advance, preparing to take him into custody. Suddenly, on the other side of the hill, Claw and two Chimera Guards peak their heads over the rise. They rush forward and surround their leader. "Prepare to be disposed of, just as we did to your friends. They were easy to defeat." Sphinx wheezes. "Let them go. Let them take Mallelio. It is the Chimera's will." Claw places his commander on his shoulder and disappears over the edge of the mountain, followed by the two guards. Tarn pick up Mallelio, and the heroes walk a while down the mountain and encounter their two allies - Thothwick and Harkenshire. They are both wheezing and bruised. Their faces and skin are charred, and their cloths are tattered. They are silent as they make their way back to Drakencourt. They are greeted by Ella, Atramor, Felton, Phil, and Hans. "Do you have him?!" asks Ella, rushing forward. She grabs Mallelio, still unconscious, off of Tarn shoulder and hugs him. She cries a few tears and kisses Tarn gratefully on the cheek. "I will get him a cleric," she says, and Hans hands the torch off to Phil and helps her carry the body up to the palace. "I will hear a report now, and I will let you all catch up. After that, you must sleep, you must be exhausted. No one will be in harms way during the morning. In the evening, I have arranged for you to meet with U'Stus and see if you can't convince him that he needs protection. What happened today, heroes? Atramor, you should fill in your fellow heroes on your adventures as well." Edited May 19, 2012 by Zepher Quote
CMP Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Atramor chuckles a little at the sight of his exhausted teammates, and hastily heals them if necessary. "'Least you're all alive...well, it's been an interestin' day, to say the least...where should I start? In any case, I ran into Wren, right in the middle of Drakencourt, after beatin' a Chaos Beast. She answered some questions, though, er, I've been hobbled for the rest of the quest, but I'm sure I can manage. She doesn't really care about Dastan or the assassins. She's not workin' with the Rogue Lions, and really doesn't plan to keep up her relationship with the assassins 'til she's done with 'em. She doesn't have anythin' to do with the Chimera, she doesn't want to see Dastan destroyed and doesn't even believe she can, and still wants to destroy Heroica. She was stealing a Spiritus Intendere, apparently. It absorbs the power of a malevolent being and forces the strength to the user's will...so I've come to the conclusion she plans to steal the power of Zoot." Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 "Claw....and Mane.. were too powerful... We were overwhelmed by their firey attacks." Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 "Yes, I had another vision, telling me that two cultists - Claw and Mane, as Mr. Harkenshire stated - were about to slay a infant Dragon, in order to hasten the rising of the Chimera. We - Mr. Harkenshire and I - went off to face them, but alas they proved too strong." Quote
Pandora Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 "Well, it's good to have us all back together, I'm glad to see you all (relatively) safe. Atramor, you say you're hobbled, what happened? Was it a trade for information? And you say Wren plans to steal the power of Zoot, isn't that some god she worships? Is she deluded? She's not planning on stealing the chimera's power instead then? Sorry, I know that's a lot of questions, but.. I have a bad feeling about this... And don't worry about Claw and Mane, we'll find them again, I'm sure, and then we'll all wipe the floor with them. Oh and Tarn, before I forget.." Nyx hands Tarn the other Dragon Scale, and smiles and nods at him with a look of admiration. There's a spark in her eyes as she remembers the teamwork of the recent battle, and clearly she looks forward to fighting side by side with Tarn once more. "Anyone seen Sir Poletad? I wanted to say thank you to him but he seems to have hopped off. " Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Upon seeing the loot exchange, Thothwick reaches into his pocket, and hands the Tonic and the Ether Core to Atramor. "We took these of the Chimera Guards. You'd make best use of these, Witch." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Tarn smiles his thanks to Nyx and recaps their long, drawn-out fight for the others. "Thank you for this, Nyx. Our teamwork was most impressive, fighting alongside the valiant Sir Poletad we were able to stop Sphinx from sacrificing Mallelio. It is heartening to see, that even in these desperate times, that some of our enemies still have a sense of honour. Sphinx's fight was a warriors challenge, him against us, and when we bested him, he did not allow Claw to step in and fight us. We took Mallelio and here we are. That's 3 charges protected, I believe." Quote
CMP Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 "Yeah, it was for information. Hell, I'm just glad we finally have answers." He accepts the Tonic and Ether Core, wondering how the hell he was supposed to use the strange symbol. Consumable, maybe, but he definitely wasn't going to eat or drink it. "From what I understand, it's a god of chaos and destruction she adores. I don't think she's deluded, she really does have a plan...misguided, but organized, is a better term for 'er. And no,she said the Chimera doesn't fit into her plans. I also had a brief duel with a Chaos Beast with Constance, but I don't know if she got off to the front lines afterward. I really don't care, she really needs to get that stick out of her valiant dragonass...well, at least we got Mallelio. I've got a few questions about his journals when he wakes up." Quote

OoC: Turns out I'm once more better at finding Wifi then I thought! "This is good news... mostly. I am sorry to hear that a Dragon has perished, but am pleased that Mallelio is still alive. I will make sure he speaks to you once he recovers, but that may not happen for a number of days. 50 gold will be added your reward for his safe return. I again thank you heroes, Mallelio is a friend as well as an important member of the court. I warn you, however, that the reports rolling in each day are becoming grim. Dastan is in danger. Emperor Alandri sends information of Lion Knight forces each day. He requires more and more troops. Emperor Emeraldo fights off Cultists, just as you do. His forces seem scattered, and reports are difficult from him. We have feared he has fallen to an ambush a number of times. Be careful, heroes. You know the old saying: If the arms and legs go different directions, and body falls apart." Phil, Felton, and Hans leave the heroes. Poletad, who hung back, hops past them, and nods at Tarn and Nyx gallantly before following the others. The heroes retire to their beds, and the next day awaken late. They are greeted by a face only familiar to Atramor. "Hello, hired hands. I have a mission for you." Constance pauses quickly, and gives a rushed briefing of the other's locations. "Victor has left Drakencourt to investigate the area of your battle yesterday. That is not official business. He is wasting time. Your frog ally and the man with the helmet have also exited the town, searching for one of the assassins... the female one. The Chaos one. The man with the hat is lurking around the city. He aggressively attempted to approach me earlier. I gave him a stern talking to and had him dragged to a safe distance. Mallelio is still recovering." That out of the way, Constance powers on to her main purpose. "The idea that I need protection is ludicrous. I am a Dragon Knight. I have trained in combat for years. You are hired hands. Many of you have no training. It is not proper that you protect me, so I will instead give you a purpose more fitting. This sword here is called Dragon Heart. It has served me well, as Atramor has seen first hand. However, in a number of days I will finally receive the honor of being shipped off to the front lines. I want Dragon Heart in top form. Clara left the garrisons last night, I have no doubt the idea of leaving soon for the front lines scared her out. Being a Dragon Knight is not for everyone. Regardless, I have no one to take my sword for me, so I will be giving you the job. Take this to the Great Market and have it improved. There is a Pongcanis there. He will do the job." How will the heroes respond? Edited May 22, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 "With all due respect, Ms. Constance, we were hired to accompany you, and make sure you are safe till you reach the front lines. Whilst doing this task will help ensure your protection, what do you intend on doing whilst we're off with the Pongcanis? You're about to become weapon-less, and I'm sure those assassins will take the opportunity to ambush you whilst unarmed." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 "With all due respect, ma'am, we have been hired to protect you and that is what we will do. Though you are surely my match in battle, I will not leave your side. As Thothwick says, without your blade, you will be vulnerable, and that is exactly when the assassin's are likely to strike." Quote
Zepher Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 "With all due respect, heroes, I have more weapons than one sword. This evening I will be training my remaining Dragon Knights, along with a handful of foot soldiers. There are still half a dozen in the city. The assassins can not make it en mass into the city, and attacking even six Dragon Knights would be foolish. Do as I command. Remember, you must see U'Stus' house tonight as well. Victor told me to remind you. Why we are bothering to protect a U'Kin is beyond me... but the Great Market is on your way." Quote
CMP Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) I should be at level 18. Atramor squinted in the sun. Stupid early Dastan mornings. Oh, and look, the dragon commander was here...fantastic way to start the day. "Your fighting skills are great, right, but you ain't gonna be able to take on another one of those Chaos Beasts or any of the assassins alone. P'rhaps one of us shod go along with you too." Edited May 20, 2012 by CallMePieOrDie Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 "Are you certain you can trust all of your fellow Dragon Knights, Ms. Constance? Any one of them could be an Assassin in waiting. But a more pressing matter is that I must remind you that an U'Kin is just as worthy for protection as a human, Ms. Constance." Quote
Pandora Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Nyx listens to the discussions between her comrades and Constance, noting her proud responses. "Dragon Commander Constance, you are indeed as charming as Atramor indicated. " Nyx smiles sweetly. "We may not be trained in your eyes, but we are certainly not without art. We were assigned by your Emperor; we are not your 'hired hands' as you call us. Now, I should very much like to see your training of these foot soldiers and Dragon Knights, and should the need arise, I would be delighted to beat you about the head with my Healing Staff. What do you say? It'll be like a girls' night out, but without the drunkenness and picking up guys. " Quote
