Tarn looks at Atramor, his acting party leader now that Thothwick was sitting the battle out.

"Atramor, if both William and myself use the bombs, their power will finish this quickly, but they are somewhat of a statement of intent. Are you happy for us to be so... destructive?"

Plus I wanna go hit that Barbarian over there!

It'll end the battle a lot quicker. Constance is gonna have constant healin', and she'll decimate us with any attacks, even Cronk. I wanna finish this quick as we can."

[Rumble Strike]

Tarn nods grimly. "Yes, we should not draw this out any further than we need to. Ironic that one of XX's bombs is going to hurt Constance!"

Tarn will throw Bomb XX.

Waiting on Xander... and VP, but we're used to running stuff even if he doesn't post. Xander, you've got three or four hours, then we go!

Unless he shows up and would like to do differently, could I suggest that William attack Galen and Nerwen? Less free hits and no opportunity for Sarick's Magic Burst.

Xander contemplates the situation around him, closing his eyes and meditating for a short period of time. Opening them, he notices a strange man and a chicken advancing towards him. The odds were not in his team's favor; however, if he was to go down, he would try to take someone from the opposing team with him. Clenching his axe, he aims an attack at Atramor from the front row.

Xander notices that the man with the chicken begins to retreat to the back row; instead of returning an attack on him, he turns his attention to the barbarian holding the menacing bomb, attacking from the front row with his axe.

The battle begins. Constance stabs at Tarn, and a mighty firey dragon roars out of his sword, smashing into his chest and burning him (10/2=5). Xander follows close behind, swinging his hammer and taking out Tarn's feet from under him, though the barbarian gets back up (21/2=11). Nerwen prays to the gods to protect her party, and the entire party is restored to full health. Sarick slithers forth and smashes his staff into his foe's head (-17). Felton stumbles. Galen charges at Atramor, but the Witch fires a bolt of orange magic that catches Galen in the chest and sends him pinwheeling into a wall. When he stands up, his eyes glow orange. Nyx flies at Constance and deals a magnificent blow with the spine of her book (32-3=29). De'kra refuses to fight his allies, unable to find a path to Constance in all the clashing, and William fires a shot meant to skim Nerwen, but in all the movement it catches her full on in the stomach. She falls and begins to bleed heavily. Tarn is hurt by his burn (-2).

Atramor heals himself

Cronk charges forward, but is slammed back by the same fiery dragon spirit that targeted Tarn (-1). Tarn, bravely as ever, throws his Bomb XX. The explosion is immediate, and it throws Tarn through a near-by building, KO'ing him (-10). The rest of Tarn's party shields their eyes, each feeling at their arms are seared by the intense heat. When the smoke clears, the area is littered with the bodies of their allies. A few have started to groan and come to, but Constance lays, not moving.

The celebration is short lived as Phil and Emperor Septrine run up with a host of Dragon Knights and soldiers.

"What in the blue blazes happened here?! An attack? Was anyone hurt?!" The Emperor and Phil's eyes land on Constance's mangled body at the same time. They rush forward. Phil feels her pulse.

"She's gone," he whispers. He removes her helmet and closes her eyes. "May the Dragons set fire to your heart and fly it away." He turns to the heroes. "Which assassin was here? Is there time to track them down?"

"Constance was a traitor. The heroes and I discovered her intentions and were forced to put her down. The clues all fit, Victor, I'm sorry. She was in a position of power-"

"Constance was no traitor. When Emperor Roland defected, and we found Lord Blackenord's betrayal, we went through all of our high ranking officials things. Constance was no traitor. She warned Emperor Septrine three times over the last year alone that she did not trust Emperor Roland. She had only one secret project, which was attempting to reopen communication with the Dragons and our Empire."

The Emperor has grown livid. "She saved my life on countless occasions! She lost an eye the same day I did! And you massacred her! You are the traitors!! You will be the ones to die!"

Phil shakes his head sadly. "There are no more traitors. Roland and Lord Blackenord were the only ones. They somehow spirited the assassins into the city. Looking for traitors is a defense. It prevents us from having to take blame for what has happened. I will accept it no more." Phil turns to the heroes. "You have murdered a city official, and worse, one that you were asked to protect. The people needed Constance. You must be put in prison. I'm sorry, but the people must know we will not tolerate this."

Felton steps forward. His voice trembles a little, but his eyes remain steely and sharp. "Tell them that I tricked the heroes into doing it. Please. Throw me in prison. You still need the heroes. There are still people who need protecting. You have captured only one of the six assassins. You will need Heroica's help. You can release me when Wren has left Dastan, and I will then leave as well, and never return."

Phil nods sadly. "Thank you, old friend. Emperor Septrine, alert the public that Constance has been killed by the assassins. Have the city guard cover the town with wanted posters. I will take Felton to the prison. Heroes, retire to the palace for the evening. You may have all of Roland's wing, he won't be occupying it in the near future anyway. I will come to you in the morning." Phil faces everyone. "I do not know what the proper action right now is. I am confused. Confounded. My allies have killed my allies. I guess the only thing to do is accept what's done, and move on." Phil shakes his head and leads Felton away.

"I have no words for you, heroes. You are welcome in the palace. I hope that Victor will sort this all out. I must go prepare a speech for the people."

The Emperor stalks off into the night, followed by the remaining Dragon Knights.

The heroes may retire to the palace when they choose.

IC: De'kra winces as he awakes among the smell of ash and flames. Slowly he rises to his feet, and downs a potion. As his senses return, the echo stumbles back in horror. The room was completely destroyed, rubble lay scattered about among flames and heat. And scattered about were the fallen bodies of the other heroes.

As he recovered from the initial shock, De'kra activated his cloak, searching for the most wounded. Everyone on Constance's side was out like a light, their health at it's lowest tiller. Quickly the echo dragged himself through the rubble, and pushed Xander's hand into a potion. "Not drinking! Not drinking!" said the echo with growing panic, "No, mouth!" the echo moved the potion in a frantic motion and poured it down the barbarian's mouth.

After a quick check on Xander, the echo raced over to Nerwen. Quickly he poured a potion into her throat, just as the Emperor and company entered.

As Felton and the others spoke, De'kra clicked to Nerwen frantically, "are you okay? Galen and Leader are near dead, they need heal if you can."

[Rumble Strike]

Tarn should have 16 health due to natuarl respite, he did also slot his grand potion into his hollow blade, and Bomb XX should be removed from his inventory.

Tarn saw a world enveloped by fire after he threw the bomb at the traitorous turncoat Constance. He did not know if he would survive the blast, did not really care. He was destroying evil, and if that cost him his life, then so be it.

When he awoke in a pile of rubble, badly burned from the explosion, he could barely breathe. It felt like a crushing weight on his chest, but he crawled back just as the Emperor and Victor were taking away Felton. "Constance... not a traitor?" he slurred, blood filling his mouth as he tried to speak. He felt in even more pain. He had been wrong. They had all been wrong.

IC: Nerwen was talking to long to recovery, and De'kra could only grow more frantic. The guards were agitated now, and Felton was being led away. How had this gone so wrong. It was supposed to be a battle, not a cauldron of chaos! How could this happen? Had Wren done the deed, it seemed like her handiwork? No, something else had happened. As the shock lessened De'kra remembered Atramor speaking to Tarn about something...

The echo stumbled back in horror, as the events leading to the explosion finally clicked. Heroes had done this, heroes De'kra had worked with! How could someone do such a thing! This attack destroyed good people, ravaged their bodies and charred their skin! Even the allies of Tarn and Atramor were roasted by the attack! It was...horrifying. All this chaos, all this destruction, all this pain, because a bunch of heroes wanted the battle over quickly! And this rash attack harmed everyone, no one was spared! How could so done willingly use such an explosive attack around such frail people?

Tired of waiting for Nerwen, De'kra raced over to Galen, and poured a potion into his mouth.

[CMP]

"Wh...damn."

Atramor stared at the blackened blast zone, the conversation of Emperor Septrine, Phil, and Felton rather dim in his ears. The near-motionless bodies of the enemy party strewn around the the middle of the road were quickly tended to by De'kra. And Tarn, shifting a pile of rubble, seemed to have been several injured by the explosion as well, the enabler to the weapon that may as well have stabbed them all in the heart in addition to the multitude of burns stretched across their skin.

"That was beautiful."

His hollow eyes drifted to McCafferey, surveying the scene from above, whose voice echoed resoundingly in his head. He blinked in petrified horror, and forced his eyes away from both her and the rest of the heroes. No words could he currently find for the destruction he'd nearly wrought on his own.

I promise I won't make a post this dramatic again for a long time, I don't care for them. I think I should gain a level, though if it's a massive repercussion I understand.

Thothwick, standing up against a wall, shielded himself with his cloak when the bomb exploded. When the dust cleared he could hear, amongst other things, the broken Humanish sentences the small rogue spouted, causing him flashbacks of Hoptet.

The Emperor and Phil soon came, and informed the others of their mistake. "Another triumph for the Witch."

Seeing the aforementioned Rogue provide aid to his fallen comrades, rushed to help his own. He extended his arm out to Tarn, the now badly burned Barbarian, with blood protruding from his mouth.

"Need some assistance getting away from here, Mr. Tarn? Perhaps back to the hospital ward?"

OOC: Natural respite works even when you get KO'ed? If so I should get health back as well, that way you can save a potion De'kra.

Xander lay motionless on the ground, seemingly in deep slumber lying on his back. He could hear a distant voice; his eyelids heavy, he could only manage to open them halfway. A shadowy figure was kneeling beside him -- he wanted to move, but his mind's actions did not register with his body.

Feeling his head tilt slightly forward, he sensed a cool liquid begin to hit his throat. Mustering his remaining strength, he raised his hand and shook his head delicately. Mother nature, it seemed, was looking after him. Slowly but determined, Xander sat up and noticed De'kra running to assist others in his party; he smiled feebly and returned to the lying position, feeling his power regenerate slowly.

[Tanma]

IC: De'kra looked around to spot Xander stirringt. Quickly the echo darted over to the barbarian, careful to avoid walking on the other fallen heroes. "You alright Hammer Hero?" he clocked as softly as he could, before his tone grew grim, "Tuyet use some sort of bomb to devastate battlefield. Everyone is hurt, though you and other correct heroes took most of damage."

The echo looked around as the Metasimian helped Tarn to his feet. There was something familiar about the Metasimian, though not in a meaningful way. He probably had just seen him in the hall a few times.

OOC: he probably would have used it just in case anyway.

[Pandora]

Nyx watches, horrified, as fellow members of Heroica, along with Constance, charge at her teammates. 'We shouldn't be attacking each other, surely?' she thinks to herself, but watching the constant onslaught makes her want to take away the focus of their disagreement; Constance. With that she does what she's been wanting to do for quite a while, and smacks Constance full in the face with her great book, hoping the woman would back down and the matter could be settled with words. Just as she's thinking that Constance might just cede the fight, a gloriously warm feeling spreads over Nyx's skin, and she feels safe and cosseted once more. She closes her eyes to drink in the sensation, but as her ears start to pop she opens them again to see.... utter carnage and destruction. Fellow heroes fallen, broken. Tarn, her comrade and friend, crawling, bleeding, and so many meagre signs of life from others. The little guy who made all the clicky noises was rushing around trying to help people, and the Emperor comes and goes in a daze. He said something, she wasn't listening, she was just staring, but he went away again, so that's ok. She composes herself, just about, until her eyes fall on Galen. She picks her way through the rubble and kneels next to him, bending to listen and gasping in gratitude as she hears his breathing. She rubs her eyes, smudging soot a little before trying to find some words..

"Galen? Galen.... I'm.... I'm sorry."

It had been so long, and she'd been so happy to see him, how could this be happening? Nyx waits for the little clicky guy's potion to work, nodding at him and smiling wistfully as he darts from hero to hero trying to heal them by any means possible.
