Xarrzan Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) OOC: Excuse the fact that this post is only OOC. What about Sarick? He wasn't mentioned in going to guard Ella, nor to go with the Dragon, nor to go to the Rito. Also, I am carrying the Dragon's Heart sword. Edited June 11, 2012 by Xarrzan Quote
Zepher Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 I apologize, JimBee just pointed out my over-sight, you are with him. Pinky promise it doesn't mean I love Sarick less. I'm just a clutz. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Goodbye, friends. Remember that future is what heroes can control now. Cronk know heroes will save Dastan. May all of Cronk's friends be safe and may Ennoc bless all. Cronk is glad to help destroy Chimera. Such evil cannot be let upon world. Cronk will give friend Galen one of Cronk's potions. Cronk sees that Galen has used all Galen's and Cronk not sure when Party would be able go to buy more. Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Thothwick watched as the party was separated left and right, and the Witch was carted off on protection duty. "I really must remember to buy Ms. Ella something before we leave Dastan." "Well, hello again, Mr. Cronk, it's nice to see you again. How lamentable it is that we only meet when Lady Wren is wreaking havoc. And you're Mr. Galen? A pleasure." Edited June 11, 2012 by Professor Flitwick Quote

Fugazi Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Galen didn't sleep well, and the funeral did nothing to improve his mood. It was clear that Emperor Septrine's faith in the heroes was marginal at best. But at least he was sending them on a new mission, and that suggested a hope of reward. Then Vipera appeared to them once again, and his mood changed. He had all but forgotten Vipera in the turmoil of the last few days. But there she was and she was asking for help on behalf of the Dragons. He didn't know whether she had been in contact with Constance in the past or to what extent the Dragons actually collaborated with the Dragon Knights, but he felt that this is one mission Constance would have accepted in order to protect all of Dastan. Galen was no good at figuring out the traitors from the well-meaning people in the complex tapestry of Dastanian politics, but the Chimera was a beast of pure evil and their objective was clear-cut. He would go. "Goodbye everyone, good luck on your respective quests. I hope we will meet again soon. Sarick, if you still agree I will take the Dragon Heart now, and perhaps put an end to the spell of bad luck I've had since setting foot in Dastan. De'kra, I will not forget your selflessness. Thank you. Thothwick, William -- Harkenshire, I'm pleased to travel with you. I hope we can put behind the unpleasant events of yesterday and actually make a difference in this conflicted empire. Cronk, thank you for your thoughtful gift. I still hope to be able to make it up to you before the end of this quest." Quote
Zepher Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 OoC: Sorry, as boring as this excuse may have gotten, we are waiting for the other party. Quote
Zepher Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) OoC: We now return to your normal programming. Vipera leads the heroes north. They walk through the ever increasing fog. Suddenly there is a flash of light and flame and Skrall and Isabella join the party. "Welcome to you two. I am afraid we do not have time for conversation. The Chimera grows in power as we stand here. Time is of the essence. Continue to follow me." The heroes, joined by their two new allies, continue into the mist. They are suddenly greeted by a face that only William and Thothwick recognize, a figure that appears to have materialized out of the mist, it has grown so thick. "Please heroes, I come in peace for a short while. Things are changing in Dastan things are changing. This is true and this is good. But some things must not come to pass. I am asking you to stop the Chimera for me and for all people of Dastan, those I protect and oppose. I should have stopped Sphinx sooner. While you are gone, there will be no assassination attempts while you are gone. You have the word of U'Vires." U'Vires disappears once more into the mists, and the heroes have no time to track him. They feel pulled forward. Their movements feel jerky. They are hardly able to make each other out. They are simply shadows in the mist. "The Chimera warps the energy pools, she is so strong," Vipera explains. "I hear a chorus of sirens in my head. That is how it effects me." The heroes continue to jerk forward. Around them whisper voices. "The will of the Chimera, the will of the Chimera, the will of the Chimera." Then another voice rings out. It is Wren's. "STOP!" it bellows, and the other voices stop. There is a rushing noise, and the heroes find themselves in front of Claw and Sphinx. "The will of the Chimera has come to pass," Sphinx intones quietly, without emotion. "Take care of them, Claw. They are not part of the plan anymore. The Chimera wills them gone." And again, before the heroes can do anything, Sphinx is gone. Claw draws his curved sword. He holds it in front of him. The heroes see his eyes. They are black and dead and cold. They tear, but he does not look sad. He wears no expression. "You will die now. The friends of the Chimera have risen once more. Good bye, heroes." Shadows lurch out of the fog. Many of them are recognizable. They have returned from the dead. This is what Gottfried was working on. The battle is upon the heroes. Waterbrick Down Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) OoC: Since, Lady Leofwena and Lord Calibor are undead in name, are they undead in type? Also is Thotwick at 0 Health and power at 31? Skrall glances around, rubbing his eyes from the flash. Two men seem to be speaking to the group of Heroes surrounding Skrall, he hears the name of Sphinx mentioned and can only assume that the men before him repreent some of the leaders of not only the cultists but also the rebel lion knights. Trying his best to resist the magical pull upon his person, Skrall's eyes widen as he spots the resurrected bodies of Lady Leofwena and Lord Calibor. He shouts out to the familiar voice of Wren, "Thank ya mam, but as soon as I'm finished here ya know ya won't be off the hook quiet yet." Skrall turns to the rest of the heroes, "sorry, for the rushed greetin's chaps, but it looks like these fellas aren't here for tea and crumpets. Cronk if ya'd be so kind as to take care of the gentleman with the curved sword goin' by the name of Claw, I think yer shield will come in handy, I'll deal with the Pog. The rest of ya, take care not to get yerself into to much of a jam, as I suspect we're goin' to be having a bigger problem to deal with sooner than later." Skrall draws back on his Hunter's Crossbow and looses a bolt at Mane from the back row. Edited June 19, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote

Zepher Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Round 1 Cultist Battle Cronk v. Undead Gottfried - Damage Skrall v. Mane - Damage Thothwick v. Undead Calibor - Hit William v. Claw - Special Damage William v. Undead Lady Leofwena - Critical Hit Isabella takes a Nostrum Galen v. Undead Lady Leofwena - Shield The battle begins. The mist swirls and the shadowy enemies move through it with expertise. Cronk squints ahead, but even with all of his super-Orc-senses, Gottfried is able to dash out and smash him. The blow is absorbed at the last second by a holy field, but Cronk is thrown down and gropes for his sword. Skrall likewise prepares an arrow, but Mane is too quick and rushes at him through the fog, stabbing him in the back as he runs past (-6). Thothwick inhales deeply and lets his weapon fly through the air. It slices through Calibor's shoulder (-[22-2]=20) and skitters off into the whiteness. William tries frantically to load his crossbow, but as he stands Claw lunges out and cuts his leg (-10). William is able to hold his concentration long enough to loose an arrow at Leofwena that buries itself in her eye (-([5x2]+13)-4=19), enough to kill a normal person, but the undead stands strong. Isabella knocks back a Nostrum, and Galen bashes with his sword of bashing, slicing off one of Leofwena's arms (-([5x3]+8)-4=19). Gold rained from the mist, and Galen collected it. Suddenly, the mist leaped forward and enveloped all the enemies in it. As they emerged, some seemed darker, and some seemed colder. The Chimera was getting closer.
