The battle continues. Cronk is feels too beat up to summon his holy strength, and Skrall too leans on his sword, panting. Vipera fires on the Mist (-60). Thothwick and Galen too charge at the Mist, further cutting through the icy air (-25)(-[4x3]+9=21) Isabella hacks at the frost as well (-20), but it is not enough to end it as the frost lashes out and stabs through William with a frozen tendril (-14/2=7).

Skrall flung the headress over to Galen, "Ya earned the soddin' beasts head fer all that stabbin' and slicin' ya did back there, I imagine it'd make a pretty fine hat. Harkenshire, I suspect ya have the makin's of a warden about ya so why don't ya keep the beast's hide for armor. Cronk, the cloak seems best for you, may it draw ya closer to the righteous light ya keep mentionin'. Isabella, take 2 of the Dragon Scale, I'll hold on to the other one. Now where did that monolougin' chap get to?"

As the party departs from the palace, Mallelio and Ella bid them farewell.

"We will be safe here, heroes. My father must be warned of the invasion, and I must do it myself. He will want to warn the people. I must appear with him for that."

"Have no fear, heroes. We will remain within the safety of the palace or with the Emperor, who will be guarded. There are three parties of your people in the city. I will look after Ella. We will be safe."

Phil leads the party north. The party uses the time to reconnect with each other after their most recent battles. Without all fifteen heroes present, it is easier for the five of them to converse and reassess their position and goals.

OoC: It's been about a month (maybe over) since it was just the five of you in the thread. Reconnct guys, and I'll have an update tomorrow!

"It is good to see you all again!" grinned Tarn, after he looks wistfully at the departing Ella. "As Atramor asks, what adventures have befallen you since we all split up?"

"Well, Mr. Tarn, Mr. Harkenshire and I vanquished the dreaded Chimera - a fearsome beast that chills the very area around it, shrouding itself in an veil of mist - with the help of for other heroes of Heroica, and a young dragon. It was a close battle for some, but Orang Pendek guided me, and the Chimera didn't even scratch me! It appears my visions and warnings have stopped, now that we have helped alleviate Dastan of some of it's troubles."

[Rumble Strike]

"So the Chimera was causing the eerie mist we saw after we came back up from the buried Brunt wall, interesting. I am pleased that you vanquished it, what a battle that would have been!"

[Zepher]

The heroes arrive at the Prison of Dastan, and enter through the giant front doors.

"Remember your objectives, heroes. You need to see if Blackenord will tell you how he and the assassins have been entering into the city. If we can figure that out, we may be able to stop the invasion before it enters Drakencourt. If not... Ella's vision of blood filled streets may come terribly true."

Phil leads the party through a number of corridors where vicious looking men sit and watch the party with malice. He takes them up to the smaller and roomier second floor and leads them to the end of one corridor. Blackenord stands in the second to last cell. He stands facing the party, a smug grin painted onto his face.

"So you've finally come for me, heroes. Ha! You'll get nothing from me! It is too late anyway."

Blackenord's face suddenly darkens as he sees Nyx.

"You! You're supposed to be dead. XX and I killed you... you. You're the reason I'm here. You're the witness that Constance- curse it all. How are you still alive?! We checked you for your pulse. It was gone. I could still be free if you-" Blackenord's eyes dart around angrily.

[Rumble Strike]

Tarn whispers to Nyx, "You're already under his skin, Nyx. I suggest you take the lead in the interrogation. You may get him to say something important whilst he is so flustered."

[CMP]

Atramor returned the various prisoners' cold glares, while McCafferey seemed to sniff in disdain as they passed through numerous hallways to arrive at Blackenord's cell. With a sudden sigh, he crossed his arms, looking a bit upset.

"Damn it. My methods of interrogation don't work if there's bars between us. Alright, I guess we'd best let Nyx take the lead."

[Pandora]

Nyx had been keeping her counsel for a while. The sudden appearance and chattering of the many heroes had been... noisy, and she was just a little bit miffed that there hadn't been a big fight. Furthermore, it seemed the Chimera she'd been looking forward to putting down had already been.... put down. At least she met some nice wingy fighty flying people, but even then she'd known she was fighting to prove a point and not for beautiful destruction. Coming face to face with the man who had tried to kill her (had killed her? She still wasn't quite sure, she could only remember the pain) only fuelled the raging fire within. She controls herself, knowing that now is not a time for fighting, and storing the bitterness away for use later.

Blackenord's face suddenly darkens as he sees Nyx.

"You! You're supposed to be dead. XX and I killed you... you. You're the reason I'm here. You're the witness that Constance- curse it all. How are you still alive?! We checked you for your pulse. It was gone. I could still be free if you-" Blackenord's eyes dart around angrily.

"Yes, it's a funny old world isn't it? Here I am, alive and well, in fact stronger than before, and there you are locked up like the rat that you are. You're nothing but a worthless worm, and you will rot in that cage for the rest of your miserable excrement-soiled life. And do you know what? I think I will deliberately find time to come and see you, and bring with me gentle, fragrant and tantalising wafts of the free air that you will never taste. Whatever I can possibly do to make your meagre, pathetic existence even more tormented. You've achieved nothing you old fool; nothing. Your plans were foolish at best, idiotic and poorly planned. Did you really think you would get away with this? Did you really think your plans would work?"

As she speaks, Nyx leans against the side of the cell, just out of reach of the bars, and fixes Blackenord with a look mixing scorn and disgust. Every so often she conjures small flames at the tips of her fingers, examines them, and wills them away again. Silently, she hopes her comrades recognise her deliberate attempts to further fluster Blackenord and let his pride do the talking.

[Zepher]

"I can let you in, if you like, Atramor. Dastan does not care for it's traitors," Phil says under his breath with a glint in his eye.

Lord Blackenord regains some composure, but still is clearly seething.

"You can talk high and mighty all you like, young girl, but when it comes down to it, I've already accomplished more than you ever will. I've advised Emperors and led armies, invented bombs and guns and mechanical servants, raised up an Empire into a Golden Age, then, when it cast me aside, I helped to tear it down again. I may be in the cage for now, but my allies are coming and it won't be long before you and I switch places, so I would be careful what promises you make to me, for I will be certain to deliver them back unto you ten fold."

[Pandora]

"Hah! What allies? Who would come for an old fool like you? And there's no way your imaginary allies could breach the city. So what would you do to me fool? Kill me again? It didn't exactly stick last time..."

[CMP]

"Really? Fantastic, let me in."

Atramor turns to Blackenord, with a malicious orange glare, an iron grip on the hilt of Ratsbane.

"If you heard the sound of a hundred thousand flapping wings or the endless pounding of boots on cobblestones, it was the Rito and the true Lion Knights that a pitiful band of rogues will quake to face. The Chimera, the twisted symbol of hope the bulk of the assassins held dear, is dead. Our other allies are just about to go take Roland to justice. If you want to deliver on the promises I make, go ahead and try, because I bet you everything I own you're just going to end up sitting there on your megablocks, rotting until Dastan sees fit to have you executed...or, if you're unlucky, until I see fit to leech every last ounce of your meaningless life while one of the deadliest venoms known to Olegaia burns holes through your veins. I've been k- fighting my way through the underworld both before and during my time in Heroica, the loot's been aplenty so don't doubt my ability to do so."

He runs his thumb down the flat of the blade, so that the traitor can see the poison gathering on the weapon's tip.

"In addition, me and my friend here," he tilts his head to Tarn. "Have just gotten through obliterating the spirit of Emperor Brunt - no doubt you've heard of him and the trouble he's been causing since his death - and I'm eager to try out this crown of his head, which apparently will have a rather nasty effect on one's soul until the end of the round or the enemy's dead. Do you see a battle order around here? No? Well, that's because we're not in a battle. No, no, this curse will eat away at your very being for as long as you can hold out. I doubt it's very long if you have to rely on mechanical equipment and weapons to take down any one of us. Oh, but don't worry, I'm a healer. I'll keep you alive. So you can feel the endless, endless waves of pain, over. And over. And over. And over...Unless you tell us what we want to know."
