Hello, Nikolai. Cronk wants to ask if Emperor Roland is authorized to take these weapons Heroes have found.

Also did a guard named Russel just come talk to Nikolai? Russel left Cronk's party without warning and when Russel return, Russel said Russel talked to commander of fort.

"This is very interesting... mo, I was not informed that anyone should be taking these weapons, but I did just arrive a few days ago. And no, this Russel character did not speak to me about anything. I was busy fighting off the rebels".

"I agree with Galen," said Sarick. "We have spent too much time here. Our mission was to retrieve these weaponsss and return, so that is what we will do. If we find Russel along the way then we will confront and question him. If he turnsss out to be a traitor then we will end his life. But our focus is returning with the weapons. Let us head out."

"Nicolai, how far off are the approaching Rebels? Would the other Heroes be able to make it back to the palace without getting attacked by the Rebels? I feel it is a very bad idea for us to split up right now."

"Yer makin' sense again, Mage. Let's hope it lasts. How many rebels ARE there, anyway, Master Nicolai?" Count Knyghton then turns to De'kra. "Back at Bric'Bay, Arthur mentioned ya have a cloak of some kind, lets ya see tha strength of tha enemy. Went on an' on about how much he wanted one. Cloak of the Elven Spy, was it? Would ya mind usin' it now, ta scout out tha strength of tha enemy troops?"

OOC: First I get the names mixed up, then I mess up Knyghton's accent? Sheesh! :hmpf::tongue:

Let's all confront the commander, our numbers could take control of the situation, then we split up. If we split up, I'll go with Isabella, we need to talk.

Nerwen moves over to the young elf. Recalling him slightly from the hall she says.

After collecting his results from his tracking, Skrall informs the Parties, "well, this Russel fella took the side door and was movin' at a right clippin' pace. I don't think we're going to be able to track him. Mr. Lizard, I think ya in yer Party will be good to go with the weapons and me and my group will keep trackin' the traitor. If my guess is right, he'll lead us straight to the rebels and the rest of the cultists. First though we need to see if we can even get out of this death trap."

Skrall moves toward the parapet of the fort to determine how the battle is faring and if the Parties need to fight their way out of the fort. Taking the telescope out of his satchel he looks in the direction of Russel's tracks and attempts to spot the soldier in the distance before he throws the telescope back to Arthur.

Cronk's only concern at this point is whether Russel acted alone. Yes, Cronk's party was told man was Emperor Rolando, but if Wren is somehow involved, how can friends be sure?

Cronk sees the sense in returning with the weapons for now. But Cronk also think party should be vigilant and not trust quite so readily. Wren is nasty piece of work. Unpredictable. Friends should be on guard.

Skrall, Cronk was glad that Cronk and Skrall not fight it out. Cronk does not envy Skrall's leadership of Skrall's party. Look like mage is handful all by mage's self.

Cronk prays that Skrall can fulfill Skrall's mission and hopes to see Skrall again soon. Good luck.

De'kra uses his Cloak of the Elven Spy, but no enemies are nearby and it does not have an effect.

Taking the telescope out of his satchel he looks in the direction of Russel's tracks and attempts to spot the soldier in the distance before he throws the telescope back to Arthur.

The battle has ceased for the moment, but soldiers are bustling about making quick repairs and preparing for a follow-up attack. Skrall takes out his telescope and points it in the direction that Russel exited the fort. He doesn't find the soldier, but instead sees a cloud of dust rising in the distance, at the spot where Quest 29 heroes could identify as where the carriages was parked.

"If you heroes wouldn't mind helping hold off this fort... I can't imagine the rebels could've gotten too large of a force behind our front lines. Then again, if pursuing this Russel character seems more important, please investigate. The whole situation seems fishy to me."

What will the heroes do? Will they pursue Russel, help defend the fort, or split up? (PLs please state your decisions in bold.)

Having seen a rune on the papers sticking out of Cronk's pack, Arthur quickly whips out his own notes and frantically begins making copies. "Sir Cronk, wait," he says. "Back in Emperor Alandri's palace, Lady Leofwena tried to steal the basin in which the ancient Chimaera of Lion Knight legend was created, as well as a series of books that had come with it. She stole a book about transformation of Mopag root, a book about bringing people back from the dead, a book about creating chimeras, and a book about archaic languages. None of those books were with her when we killed her, so I think the cultists now have them. I think they're trying to resurrect the Chimaera, and, if my suspicions that the Empire no longer has tamed dragons are correct, the Empire will have no defense against the Chimaera if they raise it. I want you to have my notes from those books; they're broken and incomplete, but they may prove useful in the future--especially if those documents I see you have are related to the Cultists." He handed the copies of his notes to Cronk. "I wouldn't mind having a copy of those cultist notes as well, but I understand if you feel we don't have time for me to make a quick copy. Though, if you notice, I am a very fast writer," he says, indicating the notes he had just made.

"If I may make a suggestion, perhaps only one or two of us should deliver the weapons, while the rest stay here together and fight off the Rebels. I myself would be willing to deliver the weapons for you, so long as De'kra or Skrall or Cronk came with me. Just don't chase after Russel and/or the Cultists without me; they banged me up last time we fought, and I mean to return the favor--with interest," he adds menacingly. He sees De'kra nearby, and gives himself a quick shake. "Does that sound like a good plan to the rest of you?"

So carriages went on without friends, eh? Cronk will assume for now that Russel is the traitor since Russel lied about why Russel left party alone. If Russel did return to Emperor and Emperor is real, Rolando with think party are traitors. But since Russel is the traitor, harm may come to Rolando.

Even if Emperor was fake, Cronk think it might be prudent to follow Emperor. Might lead party to leaders of rebellion. If Emperor is real, Emperor deserve explanation and protection. Rolando did hire party after all.

Skrall, Arthur may be right about Dragons needing allies against Chimera. Cronk and party hear of race of flying sentients living in hills called Rito. Cronk hear Rito not alllied with any side, but perhaps Rito could be persuaded to help dragons. If Skrall's party should run across Rito, it is worth a shot.

Cronk think it prudent if Nikolai could give party official papers of what has occurred here. If Emperor is real Emperor, party will need something to combat Russel's lies.

"I believe Cronk is speaking sense, if the carriages are gone then I can only assume that Russel is off to deceive the emperor. Cronk and his party shall deliver the weapons, though without the carriages I don't see how ya'll get far. We should see if we can procure some horses from within the fort. My Party shall remain here and hold the fort unless any of ya wish to join us. If Russel is off to the cultist leaders, then I should have no issue trackin' Carriage wheel ruts after the next skirmish, besides if we can route these rebels they may flee back to their camp and hopefully their leaders."

OOC: Going to bed, and going to be gone most of the morning tomorrow. Until then, Brickdoctor Tanma has control of Arthur and Count Knyghton unless he ends up in a different group than Arthur, in which case WBD will gain control. If for some reason both WBD and Tanma are in a different group from Arthur, CorneliusMurdock will take control.

Quel re. Mani nai lle umien? (Good day, what have you been doing?)

(Sorry, don't know the "language.")

Good day. So far, we met Emperor Alandri, then defended against a Teuthusal horde. Those monsters are like gooey slimy humanoids. Then, Lady Leofwena, a Lion Knight, stole a magical item from the Emperor, and tried to make a getaway. We tracked her down, and killed her and a rouge named Lord Calibor. We have no clue where the Chimera raising object is." Alexandre replies, then continues, "I guess I'll be defending the fort. How are you?"

Sarick listened to Skrall's description and then said, "A cloud of dust rising from the location of the carriagesss. My first instinct was to assume they were under attack. I hope your assumption, Cronk, about the carriagesss leaving is the correct one. If our options are to defend or pursue Russel then my decision is the same as before. I believe we should pursue Russel and if I heard you correctly Cronk, that is your vote as well. Correct me if misunderstood. What doesss the rest of the team think?"

Sarick: Pursue Russel

Cronk: Pursue Russel

Nerwen: ?

Xander: ?

De'kra: ?

Galen: ?

IC: De'kra clicks, "Group should purse Russel I think. Not only he most likely traitor, but he was and heroes and I in cultists caverns whole time, group has no clue if he took something from cultists when Team was busy fighting."

Turning to Arthur and the rest of the other group De'kra clicked, "By way, in town Team heard about race of bird people in Dastan. They call themselves Rito and live in mountains. From what we heard they not fond of Dastan Emperors, and have little contact and outside world. I not sure if they might help rogue Lion Knights, as sources claim they not actively hostile towards empire and make no attacks or anything. But Rito could always give passive aid that hard to trace, like ignore fact Lion Knights take refuge in their mountains or something. I not sure if they would that, I hope they not involve cause they bird people, but you never know. Just keep they existence in mind."

OOC: Unexpectedly able to post this morning before I leave, but same takeover strategy is still in effect.

"Wait, you were in the cultists' home caverns? Would it be possible for you to give us directions on how to get there?"

"In light of this new information, I think I will boldly decide to follow Russel, unless no one else chooses to defend the fort."

"Yer on yer own on that, mage. I'll follow ya ta tha Emperor if ya decide ta go talk ta him, but otherwise I'm stayin' ta defend tha fort."

Cronk does think that original parties should stay as parties were. Mixing heroes may result in one group not being equipped to deal with threats.

If Russel went the same way as carriages, Cronk want to go that way. Cronk is more concerned with catching up with Emperor than finding Russel, though.

Xander overheard the tan ogre mention horses; he quickly glanced at the makeshift stable near the entrance to the fort -- his companion was grazing on some hay thrown out near the shack.

"I have access to a horse; I may be able to bring one other hero with me, or most of the weapons the Emperor requested. If Russel is indeed heading towards the same way, however, it might be wise to bring more heroes. I am also willing to help defend this fort; I have prior experience that may prove useful."

Posted

"I am not a skilled fighter, so my usefulness here in the fort is limited. I would rather make my way back to Emperor Rolando, and try to find out where Russel has gone. Using Xander's horse, we can probably manage to deliver the weapons. Especially if we can find a cart or build a makeshift one."

I would like to examine the catapult parts, trying to figure out if it is wheeled or not.

Alexandre searches for a group of soldiers who have no orders at the moment.

"I'm glad of tha', Alexandre. If yer stayin', then I'm definitely stayin' ta protect tha fort."

"Count me out, I'd rather find Russel. Skrall, will you join us? I don't know how much luck we'll have without your tracking skills."

"As much as I hate to agree with him, Arthur's right. Without Skrall leadin' ya, ya don't have a snowball's chance out there." Hmm, snowball's chance...and Arthur IS an ice mage... he thought.

"Russel is either makin' for the emperor in which case Cronk and Party will catch up with him, or he's headin' off to meet with his leaders. If it's the latter, I'll be able to track em' once the battle is done and Cronk and Party can continue on their way to deliver the weapons as originally planned. Our first orders were to protect the fort and finish off the rebels, I'll check with the commander, but I think they're going to need our help here."

Skrall goes off to find a commander and inquire if he thinks the imperials would be able to stave off the upcoming attack alone.

"Very well. My mind is made up. Cronk have you and those who are with you start after that traitor, we'll hold the fort down. Count Knyghton, see if you can figure out what defenses or artillary we may have. Isabella I want you to go with Alexandre and see if you can get the garrison ready for the upcoming battle. Luke see to it that the garrison is in fighting condition. Arthur, you and I will inspect the top of the walls and see if we can figure out the rebels' strategy."
