The Rito points that determine health must refer to how much damage they can take before being knocked out, just like it is or most Heroica Heroes. He won't be killing them! Empowered by this revelation, the echo leapt with renewed energy onto Flavius, and pierced the Rito's flesh. As De'kra landed backward after his attack, he readied Chiara for another attack. Still, the final Rito was still relatively healthy, the battle was not over by any means. I suggest everyone retreat to back row to lessen damage dealt. Then team will attack." Noting how long the battle had been already, De'kra decided to dip his blade in venom from the back row. Then once Flavius was vulnerable again, the echo would attack from the back row with Chiara. Quote

It speaks of your generosity as a healer. So while we're on a healing round, I shall thump Xander with my Healing Staff from the back row. Sorry Xander but best case scenario you'll end up with a bad headache (but full health) and worst case scenario you might be engulfed in flames (although you'll end up back where you started with your health). Don't worry, I've tried it before, but I do recommend you stand still and try not to make any sudden or distracting noises. Really it'll be fine. Probably. That way you'll hopefully be in a better position to attack with your barbaric strength. Once Flavius lands again, I'll switch back to my book and use it to channel Wind magic from the back row at him." While she speaks, Nyx picks up her Healing Staff and twirls it like a baton, occasionally glancing at Xander as if sizing him up and wondering if he'd tolerate the coming strike. Quote

She saw the moment his soaring turned to a dive, directed at Xander. Ready with a heal for him following Nyx's brutal application of a blow from a healing staff. Sarick's own strike on her she barely felt, concentrating on the Rito as she was. But it felt like something was twisting the music of the world. Something raw and chaotic. An aberration of nature. A foe of civilization. She gasped to her teammates, Hurry! I feel we are running out of time. Hoping it would not be required, but knowing fate wove strange twists, she readied her hammer to attack Flavius from the back row. I will heal those that need it when battle is done. Quote

Sure the group had been lucky enough to avoid killing the other Rito, if De'kra's sight had not failed him, but would they be so lucky with the second? And what if it was De'kra would finished the flyer off? But he had to help, and if he made the final blow he could try to weaken the effects. Something about the flurry of combat made it so much harder to channel healing and seemingly impossible to heal herself. Now that they had proved themselves in combat, it was to be hoped that the Rito would willingly aid the people of Dastan to avoid the chaos that was threatening them. Outside combat, Nerwen could now concentrate better, so she began by healing Nyx, De'kra, Sarick and herself. With her ether depleted she then drank a tonic. Turning to the knocked out Rito warriors, coming to groggily, she said, I am a cleric. Shall I heal you also or would you prefer one of your own to do it? Quote

Still the rest of the group seemed to think the Rito were okay. Of course, the echo knew he probably had not endeared himself to the avians with his early refusal to fight. But he had known that such a situation was possibly from the beginning. But he just couldn't harm them. "Get over it, what is done is done. Besides, should you really rely on warriors who were defeated with you barely fighting? They will probably just be dead weight. Though it might be useful to probe them for information. They controlled those birds somehow, it might be useful to know the origins of that control.." As De'kra stumbled at the female's voice, the first voice commented, "You are not going insane. This situation is rational. And don't worry about her, she's just a loner. She is pragmatic at worst, not evil. It would be good if less of us came though." He had this strange feeling his scales would be pierced once again by those annoying arrows. Sarick slithered over and picked up two vials of liquid that dropped and a helmet from the male Rito. Sarick quickly identified the liquids. He tossed a Remedy to De'kra and tossed a Potion to Nerwen. Sarick flicked out his tongue to taste the air in and around the helmet. He tasted sweat and feathers but also a tinge of magic. Sarick took off his headdress and placed the helmet on his head. He felt the natural protection of a metallic helmet but strangely he could not feel the touch of wind against his scales as much as before. It was hard to feel many things through his scales in the first place, feeling less was not on his plan. Sarick took off the helmet and felt the wind brushing him again. He turned to his party and said "Thisss helmet offers protection as well as lessens the touch of the wind. Does anyone want to wear it?" Sarick positioned himself so the large lump of digesting falcon in his stomach didn't display so proudly before saying to the Rito, "We have proven ourselves worthy. I believe you are now obligated by your wordsss to speak in a more civilized manner." Quote
