Numbuh1Nerd Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Wow, Nemo, those are all crazy cool! JaseTJ, I really dig your Ra's! Quote
JaseTJ Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I think Ra's is probably my best one, personally... Though I just realized something about him and Aqualad and such... I think some of the (mine, anyways) best purist customs are more about the feel of the character than 100% accuracy. Aqualad, for example... I'd probably give him Deadpool's torso if I had an extra (I need one in the first place :P), but otherwise worrying about giving him a red torso just isn't worth it... The grey fits the Atlantean feel to me, though. Is that just me or... Does that make sense? Quote

Trying to match a character exactly gets really ugly really fast, but if you go for something that gives off the same vibe, combine some elements of different versions of the costume, and add a few of your own, the character will be recognizable, which is really more important. KingPixels Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Way, way, way late in posting these here, but oh well! Gambit & Mr. Sinister Gambit is mostly purist, but has a custom trenchcoat by Christo. Sinister is 100% purist. Enjoy! I really like your Sinister, but I'm not sure on the torso for Gambit. I don't like using torsos backwards because of the shoulder-blade printing. Quote
JaseTJ Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) Just thought I'd update on Cloak and Dagger, since I got that piece :) (And she's attacking Taskmaster because 1. I just got him in the same BL order 2. He was instrumental to their role in USM.) Sorry for the poor lighting, it's a bad angle. Also, any ideas offhand for how better to show those things in flight? I can't think of any clear pieces that can actually hold them unless maybe there's a windscreen with clips, but that could get too bulky too fast. Just a thought I had while watching this week's Arrow: I might try using Mandarin's medallion torso to add a hint of the Arrowverse to my Ra's... As much as I like my current one, and as much as my love for him is based on the torso :P Edited October 31, 2014 by JaseTJ Quote
Zergos Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I got more customs I will be making soon, just waiting for parts to get here. Can't wait to show yall what I'm making :D Quote
Captain Nemo Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Here's my purist Scorpion minifigure: Enjoy! Quote
K-Nut Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Can't believe I hadn't thought of that head for Scorpion. Well done! Probably the best Scorpion Minifig I've seen out there. Quote
Zergos Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Nemo back at it, making awesome customs like usual. Another awesome fig mate :D Quote
Borex Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Ow the first scorpion that really works for me! Good job! Quote
Borador Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I may have missed something, but has anyone thought to use this torso for Ra's Al Ghul? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb1754c01 Quote
K-Nut Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I haven't heard of it nor have I seen anyone use it. It looks like it could work really well! Quote
salchemist Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) I've been lurking this thread for a while, and figured I'd register and show what I have. Maybe get some feedback. Admittedly, some of these are very similar to others posted in the thread, which I promise isn't plagiarism or something, just a case of "great minds think[ing] alike." Hopefully a few of these are something you guys haven't seen yet. Up first: (Ultimate) Sabretooth, Emma Frost, and Squirrel Girl. http://i.imgur.com/X5KGHhJ.jpg?1 Next: (Ultimate) Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Rogue, and Gambit (I admit not 100% purist, but my roommate, who is also a huge AFOL, had a trenchoat lying around and I thought it was perfect) http://i.imgur.com/di8EVNU.jpg?1 Next: Juggernaut, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Mystique http://i.imgur.com/prnfYpD.jpg?1 Next: She-Hulk, Winter Soldier, and agents Maria Hill and Phil Coulson http://i.imgur.com/cDsKrOZ.jpg?1 Next: Casey Jones (from Ninja Turtles), Talia Al-Ghul, James Gordon, and Clark Kent http://i.imgur.com/8KNk2qp.jpg?1 Next: Metallo, Black Mask, Hugo Strange, and Det. Harvey Bullock http://i.imgur.com/uQwqCJp.jpg?1 Lastly, there's Ra's Al-Ghul, Dead Shot, and The Lizard, but I can't decide between the look in this lineup, and http://i.imgur.com/TwmUbre.jpg?1 This one. I prefer fleshies for comics stuff to match the other figs, but I don't know if the face works for Ra's, or if the headpiece works for Deadshot, or if The Lizard looks more alligator than lizard, so I have these altnate looks: http://i.imgur.com/9b1XBVX.jpg?1 Apologies for the picture quality. My roommate has a much better camera he uses for MOCs, but he's out of town. Edited November 4, 2014 by LuxorV Images too big. Turned into links. Quote
autorazr Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Falcon The Maestro Claremont Era X-Men: Nightcrawler, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus Kitty Pryde with Lockheed KNEEL BEFORE ZOD! Updated Terra Man Salchemist, awesome work. I am so stealing the use of Battle Goddess' skirt for Mystique. If you go with the Ninjago hat for Deadshot, I suggest giving him a plain black head, it would look more like his one eyed helmet. Quote

K-Nut Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Really liking Bullock and Sabertooth, salchemist! Nice use of the TMNT figure. Don't know what it is, but I really like that Falcon combo you've got going there autorazr. Makes it look more grounded. Quote
salchemist Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 If you go with the Ninjago hat for Deadshot, I suggest giving him a plain black head, it would look more like his one eyed helmet. Well, the thing with Deadshot is that I was more going for his look in Arkham City, because it seemed easier to do than his classic white facemask look. I've seen people do that version by selectively erasing printing on skeleton heads, but then it's not really a purist figure anymore. This is AC's Deadshot, for reference. Quote

Oh cool, I never played that, I guess they really wanted floyd's mustache visible even when masked. Really liking Bullock and Sabertooth, salchemist! Nice use of the TMNT figure. Thanks, I was kind of going for a blend of comics and MCU version with Falcon, I wanted his suit to look more gadgety like the movie, but red and white like the comic. chriscorbett Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Hey, Been reading through this thread, and was hoping somebody could help me find the name/ID of some parts as I've been searching and can't seem to find them. I'm looking for: Jacket and hair that everybody seems to be using for Rogue. Torso for Emma Frost Torso for Chameleon, plus the name of the white head to use because I oddly can't find that. Torso and Legs for the Mandarin Torso for Sabretooth (Black Jacket, Hairy Chest). Helmet for Wizard Thanks! Edited November 10, 2014 by chriscorbett Quote
