ReZourceman Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Wheelchair to go with the original X-Men you inspired me to do. Will get pics up soon. Quote
ianmrid Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I created a 'classic' Xavier quite a while back but can't remember if I posted him here or not. Anyway, here he is: I got the wheelchair design from minifigs.me. I have set of the original X-Men (plus Havok and Polaris) on Flickr, but I think only Havok, Xavier and Iceman are purist. Still, they look pretty cool. I'm dying for a way to make classic Mimic but can't get anything suitable... Quote
KingPixels Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) I never liked that it was difficult to make a wheelchair design without it towering above regular standing mini figs. It seems odd that it adds height rather than subtracts it. I did manage to make a pretty slick looking wheelchair that (with Prof. X) is the same height as a standing fig. Maybe I'll post it later. EDIT: 300th post! Edited January 10, 2014 by KingPixels Quote
Repeter Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Some GREAT ideas in this thread (has me already working on a Bricklink order)! One idea I had that I figured I'd share to see if anyone could do (I haven't gotten my hands on any of the new sets yet) was using some of the new LEGO movie Robo SWAT bodies for either random SHIELD agents or henchmen goons (and using the heads for an assortment of Doom Bots). Thanks for all the inspiration folks :) I did pick up some of the new sets and was thinking the SWAT bodies would make good SHIELD agents. I'll throw a few together tonight and post them and we can judge for ourselves. @ReZourceman: Can't wait to see your Prof X--he is done in a classic style, like autorazr's, correct? Loving yours too, ianmrid Edited January 10, 2014 by Repeter Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 autorazr: I don't know, post sample pics maybe? I'm really loving all the contributions to this thread, if I had the 2012 SDCC exclusive Phoenix, I would totally use he hair on a purist Barbara Gordon. Any Cassandra Cain fans around here? I assume she'd be fairly easy to do. Also, can someone please make a Kyle Rayner? I have no idea what hair piece to use on him, I think Anakin's in black should b good. Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Thats an awesome Prof X....I don't remember you posting it before. Love Cerebro too. Cerebra. I am not modest. You must know this about me because my next comment sounds arrogant haha...but...I think it's the best Prof X wheelchair I've seen. I am going to try and make instructions for it. Sorry to be a tease, I'll get photos up tomorrow. I will also take a look at how Mimic could be done, ianmrid, you have reminded me that he is a glaring omission. Quote

If you're gonna make Babs, I have 2 suggestions: 1.Get the Joker's Steamroller set and use Batgirl's head from that and 2.Go ahead and just make her Oracle. All you really have to do is put her in a wheelchair, but she's better as Oracle than as just Barbara. Are you planning on making Cassie Cain in the Batgirl suit or just in civies? I've been trying to figure out to make her Batgirl suit, but I'm strating to think the only way to do that is to cut the hair off of the new Batgirl figure's mask, which is decidedly non-purist. It would be super cool to see either one, though. As for Kyle Rayner, I'd try either Nightwing's hair, the basic tousled black hair, or a black buzzcut. The piece you suggested might work well, too, though I haven't managed to find that piece in that color yet. Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Original X-Men (I know Cyclops doesn't have visor or glasses...but...pay off for enclosed head in navy) Prof X Quote
rosalind14 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I like the wheelchair here. Much more compact and fits nicer....if that makes sense!!! Quote

I think that would actually be more accurate than cutting up Babs' hairpiece. Also, Anakin's hair does appear in black in the larger Little Mermaid set for Prince Eric. Quote
KingPixels Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I like that wheelchair but I think it's a bit tall. Quote

I'm really curious to see how yours turned out, think you could post it? I might have buy a loose fig of him from Amazon when they get them, in that case. I've been wanting to use that hair to make Bruce Banner. Thanks! Quote
autorazr Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 ReZorceman, nice x-men. I really like the prof X, imo, his legs need to face front as if hes sitting, I like your use of the curved pieces to represent this. While I think inamrid's wheelchair looks more real, I don't like how the minifig sits in it (or how any minifig sits in anything). Quote

I was actually going to do just that, use Batgirls hair, and yes I know Barbara seems to be loved more as Oracle, but I would like to make her as Barbara first, and James Jr. if I could find the right pieces, I'm a bit behind on Batgirl's comics, and just starting to read the "wanted" story arc, Gail Simone is such an amazing writer even out of Birds of Prey. Also, I was planning to make Cassandra in her Batgirl costume, and was initially going to use Batmans cowl. Maybe if Lego released the Zabrak head piece in black, though that wouldn't be too accurate now would it? Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I love that wheelchair ReZourceman! Using the new hairpiece from Cyrus Borg, I managed to create a purist Cyborg. I am not too happy with his cannon arm, but I could not find another solution. Quote

The two of them have such an interesting character dynamic! If you haven't gotten to Death of the Family, you're in for a treat! (I don't keep up with any of the comics, really, I've just been getting trade paperbacks when I can) I don't think the spikes would be quite as effective as the regular cowl. I've just always thought of Cass's costume as being very skin-tight and sleek, and Batman's cowl always seemed too bulky and angry for characters like the Batgirls. Although, I'm sure if someone got rid of the bat ears that'd make a great Red Robin cowl. I love that wheelchair ReZourceman! Oh yeah, that's the best purist Cyborg I've seen yet! I wish they made variations on the hairpiece, but it still looks good! Maybe try a trans-red stud or a silver cylinder? (I'm pretty sure that there's a better name for it, but it's a quarter till 1 in the morning) Have you tried using any of the big robot armor pieces on him, like the collectible minifig Alien Avenger's or Galaxy Patrol's? Repeter Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I really like that Cyborg...I'll be picking up that set, pronto. Also, those wheels on the wheelchair make it for me--very classic looking. Great job, ReZourceman Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Hey guys. I have decided to start a YouTube channel, where I will be focusing a lot on my customs and probably customs in general. Please subscribe, and watch this video - basically I've got some ideas, but also would love to hear your input to make the channel more awesome. And here is a poor photo of my collection - I re-sorted it yesterday. I'll get a better photo up soon and am uploading a video update later this evening. Quote
rosalind14 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Subscribed! Looks great - ever so slightly jealous of your collection - and looking forward to the spotlight section where you show what parts you used. Brilliant. Quote
Glitch System Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) I've been following this topic for awhile now, but I finally decided to make a contribution. All the figs I made today are Marvel stuff. Quicksilver He would be so much better if I had Doc Brown's hairpiece, but I think he turned out pretty good otherwise. Cult_Of_Skaro Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Nice work! What are quicksilver's legs from? I've never seen legs with the boots going all the way around the legs except in The Sinpsons House. Quote
