autorazr Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I never posted this cause it came out really dark, but since I realistically wont rephotograph it, here is...Wesley Dodds The Sandman. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) As in the one from Vertigo? It looks great, though the Spidey villain and Vertigo character are the only two Sandmen I know from comics. Hope to see more Vertigo characters in the future, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen should be fairly easy to do. Edited March 13, 2014 by Freddy Bricker Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I never posted this cause it came out really dark, but since I realistically wont rephotograph it, here is...Wesley Dodds The Sandman. I made a Sandman with that same head! For mine I used the Lucius Malfoy torso, black pants, gold hands, a brown cape (worn to the side) and a brown fedora. This was my only point of reference, so yours is far more accurate. I've came up with a better Raven than the one I mentioned earlier, but with parts I don't have. If anybody has them and wants to put up a picture of what they look like together, please do. Dark Blue Hood Head Dark Blue Cape Torso Dark Blue Legs Dark Blue Arms and Hands Quote
MattZitron Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) @autorazr - That Sandman is incredible My only advice is to change the gun to the old style revolvers. Dodds' were bigger as they were sleep-guns. So they might work a bit better. I've gone ahead and done my first shot at the Question after the discussion: I'm going to try different varations, have different colour hat and suits. I tried it with the CM saxophone player torso and it didn't look right. As I said on Flickr I like that the lapels give him an overcoat vibe. Edited March 14, 2014 by MattZitron Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Well, I may not be able to put pictures directly in here, but I did upload some (admittedly low quality) pictures of my current batch of DC heroes to Flickr. Not all of these are original ideas. You'll most likely recognize a good number of them from previous posts, but I really don't have the patience to sort out all of my figures to exclude covered ideas. Sorry. Here's Superboy, Wildcat, Guy Gardner, and Stargirl. This batch is Steve Trevor, Sandman, and Raven. These are Creeper, Vigilante, and Aqualad. Finally, Negative Man, Lagoon Boy, and the Question. I'm planning on replacing Guy Gardner's hair with the old Ron Weasley bowl cut and possibly his legs with the upcoming Green Lantern's. I'd be using the new Captain America torso and probably legs if I didn't like that figure so much Technically Question's trenchcoat isn't purist, but I think he's much better for it. I thought Lagoon Boy could use some trunks, since he's always had them in the comics. Plus it leaves that waist piece open for a Golden Age Robin. I'd really like to replace Creeper's torso to the CMF Surfer's torso, but I don't have that piece or the money available to buy it. I'd also like to find Aqualad a better hairpiece, something a little longer or Eastern to match his look in Young Justice. Quote
autorazr Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) that aqualad is so awesome, you managed to use a torso with a very specific logo that just so happens to apply really well. Good stuff all around Numbah1Nerd, how would you feel about using the green army man torso for Guy Gardner? @MattZitron, I should use the old style guns, its just that I had just gotten that new shiny one and i was all excited to use it for something. I'm waiting on some parts to come for my Question, ill post soon. Oh and MattZitron, I have a suggestion for your question, you know the legs of that robo sheriff from that lego movie set, the little western one? They might make that torsos overcoat look longer, more like a trench coat. Come to think of it, I have those legs, I'm gonna try it on my Sandman. Edited March 15, 2014 by autorazr Quote
korpen4444 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Awesome customs Numbuh1! Loving that Question. Neat looking Sandman Autorazr. You have a great Question too MattZitron! Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 This might be a little of topic but, who is sandman? Besides the amazing spider man villan. I noticed you guys seem to be quite fond of him.... Quote

Awesome customs Numbuh1! Loving that Question. Thanks a bunch! Question is definitely one of my favorites of them. He's also one of my favorite slightly-obscure DC heroes. My Joker Steamroller set just came in today, and now that I have Damian Wayne's Robin, I'd kinda like to replace Tim Drake's Robin with Red Robin. Does anyone have any good torsos for that? Also, I forgot how much I love Deadman. Once again, the problem with making him is mostly the torso. Any ideas? Quote

I cheated and just used a red torso and then cut out a "D" for his chest...quite happy with it tho tbh. Quote
autorazr Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 brickmaster, Sandman is a DC comics character, he was a member of the JSA and was adapted into something completely different for Vertigo's Sandman. He wore a gas mask and had guns that shoot gas that put people asleep, I dont think hes appeared in DC's new 52. Quote
rosalind14 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Polaris Red Hood X-Men - Wolfbane, Angel and Rogue. Work In Progress: Ms Marvel - just need a "Z" shape on her chest. Work In Progress: Captain Marvel - just awaiting a white cape and a lightning bolt for his chest. Quote
rosalind14 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Just a normal racer one I think, turned around so the "visor" part is at the back! EDIT: It has a small piece added onto the head so it raises up and doesn't cover his whole head. Edited March 16, 2014 by rosalind14 Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 That Polaris looks great, and just out of curiosity, when was the female hair piece released in green? I'd love to own that piece in green. Quote

Dr Leg O Brick Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Fantastic figs! Love the Polaris figure, the head you chose is perfect for her, and I might just borrow the Wolfsbane idea. The way you did Red Hood's hood is very inventive, I look forward to more! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Thank you! I cheated....I had to paint it. Why did it have to be so! I'm a die-hard purist, and I loved that piece! Hopefully we get a second Ultra Agents wave next year and Toxita gets this hair-do (du, doo?) Quote
rosalind14 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Thanks guys! I had a look around for a green hair piece but all I could see were the horrible middle parting one, the one used on the Joker and the crazy Exo Force one...none would be suitable for Polaris....so I had to paint it. I'm happy with it tho. Next up - ordered the bits on Bricklink today - are Black Panther, Black Cat and Gladiator. Quote

This is probably super stupid and a bit obvious, but if you take Batgirl's head and cowl and stick them on the Riddler Chase Batman's body, you get a pretty accurate Young Justice Batgirl. Quote

Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 This may not be the place to ask this, but has anyone tried taking the short capes and doing the trenchcoat thing with them? I'm thinking about getting a black one if I can find it to make a jacket for my Vibe figure. Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Here's my set of DC Supervillains: New 52 Joker (specifically the scene from Death of the Family with Batgirl at the roller rink), Dr. Light, Cheetah, and Vandal Savage Doctor Destiny, Toy Man, Amazo, and Trickster Ares and Firefly Amazo needs a torso change for sure, the same one I need for Creeper. I want to redo Cheetah and Dr. Light completely. My villains aren't quite as well executed as my heroes. Quote
