Farnheim Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 V-LF-14A to The next part of this little series will bring you the fire service equipment of the "Farnheim International Airport". The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has given standards for every civil aerodromes and hat put them into different fire fighting categories based on the maximum size of an airplane the airport can handle. And that are all jets and aircrafts up to a hull length of 76 and a hull diameter of 8 meters. Therefore the "Farnheim International Airport" is a category 9 airport of ICAO-standards, which means, it has the second highest level of safety requirements. And for this reason the airport fire department has a huge, moderm and very effective range of different cars and trucks on duty. 2 trucks of the mobile command center can be parked back to back as one unit. Rapid intervention vehicle based on a cab design of Pierre Normandin. Standard engine for incidents within the structured areas (e.g. terminals, parking lots). Actual smaller airport crash tender. "The big one" - the airport FD owns 4 trucks. 2 of them are equipped with this new HRET (High reach and extendable turret) with a spray snozzle at its end. Older crash tender (reserve) that carries 7.500 l of water and 1.200 l of AFFF foam. The new ladder features a lowered cab. Rescue stair vehicle. Truck for technical assistence. The logistics group can count on such a "Sprinter". Heavy rescue truck for building up and run a triage. "Unimog"-look-alike MPV with a snow plow that can also pull a trolley for towing away broken down airplanes. Annother swap body truck and the container that carries the trolley. The next and final round will bring you the equiment of the fire brigade of a petrochemical complex. Farnheim Quote
