Rumble Strike Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) I am older than I care to admit to anyone here, Knight. So, you have heard my side, why I have done the things I have done. What now, heroes? Do we go our separate ways - you back to your organisation and me back to my realm - or do we still have... unfinished business here? I need everyone to chip in on this decision, it's not just Sorrow's to make as Party Leader. Edited May 24, 2012 by Rumble Strike Quote
Endgame Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 "I simply thought "beardy" was appropriate. It is a nice beard, though. I look towards the party, and back at the Maginastra. Normally, under these circumstances, we'd allow you to walk if you agreed never to bring hell to this place again. However, you have superiors. And Im willing to bet they won't just give up so easily or be as reasonable as you, Maginastra. These children HAVE guardians, and your realm has no right to interfere with their lives, condemning them to this "sanctuary" with only an overgrown beast to interact with. You may be following orders, but I have no choice to vote for engaging in battle... Beardy! ...However, the rest of you, the choice is yours. I assume we're going to do a majority rules system here to decide whether or not this old man is getting his execution today? Quote
xxlrocka Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 "Ohhh.....this might not be a good ide-" "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" "Seriously? Oh fine, I want a good final fight. Not just to leave it at that last thing you said, Mr Maginastra sir. Actually, I'm regretting this right now....he just wants to protect them. But it's wrong to seperate them from their families. It's just sad when you do that. So I'm sorry, Mr Maginastra, but I'm afraid I'll have to fight you." Quote
Myrddyn Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) "Maginastra, what kind of life would the children have, to live all the time sheltered from the world? While the children would be protected from the outside, they would not be able to interact with the earth, and other people. What point would they have to their existence? It is only by working to improve the world, that the world is made worth living in. Look at me, for instance. I used to just wander around, crawling from pub to pub, working in odd jobs, even taking work I knew to be nothing more than banditry. I didn't even enjoy drinking - I didn't enjoy anything, until I found this Heroica organisation. The beer was free, so I joined up. I figured since I didn't need to earn money to pay for my drinking, I could take jobs that helped those in need of assistance. since then, I've become a better person than I ever could have become sitting around all day, being surrounded by nice stuff, yet knowing I was of no use to anyone. Sure, sometimes the world is a dangerous place, and if you protect these children in your magical mansion, sure, they'll be safe from bad things in life, but they also won't be able to participate in the good things. How long do you think it will take before the time comes for them to reforge the world? Better to have them in the world, brought up to be as good people as they can, and living properly, and trying to prevent the chaos from outside." "Hlin, I understand your anger at this man, but he did everything he did for what he thought were good reasons. He has even said that he will leave this place and not try to take the children again." "Nagure, I was so impressed by your diplomacy, up to the point where you said 'Fight, fight, fight, fight. Lets kill him!'..." Erik walks over to stand between the Maginastra and the heroes. "As much as I'd like a good fight, I will not be a part of the murder of this man, for doing things he thought were for the good of the children. Surely you see that he has seen the error of his ways, and will not do the same thing again? You can always trust a man with a big beard. But if you still want to fight him, you will have to fight me too." OOC: can I do that? fight with the Maginastra, against the heroes? If I can't, I will just not fight him. Costy Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) If you can trust a man with a big beard, technically I am covered in hair so I have a larger beard. If we do not stop him he has said that he will take the children again. I am willing to fight you to get to him. The parents would not want their children to live with him. Hlin hired us to help him and that is what I'm doing. Edited May 24, 2012 by Costy Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 You are mistaken my furry friend, I have just stated that I realise now I have done wrong by everyone. You have all helped open my eyes, especially this cloaked Barbarian here. I have been misguided, it is not enough to keep the children safe, hidden away. They may be safe, but not seeing how glorious life can be is too steep a price to pay for this safety. Truly heroes, it would be best for us to go our separate ways, peacefully and not get drawn into an unnecessary conflict which would only end in your deaths. I am considering Erik's position regarding the fight. I think I'll allow it, if it does happen, as it would be very interesting. There is still a chance to back down, party people! Quote

Erik really knows how to how to play a great practical joke! I recoil back laughing hysterically, then regain my composure. "It may not be in good taste, but great joke! Really had my going there. Pft, fighting with the maginastra, please. I realize he is deathly serious after staring at his face for several seconds. "...You're kidding me. Are you truly going to side against us, after all the beatings, all the wounds, all the HELL you took from his wretched creations? And he didin't say he would cease. He said he would "propose" the idea being scrapped to his superiors. Who knows what the superiors would do, hm? Perhaps they'd just completely disregard the man's wishes and go on with an even more vile plot? Truly, Eric, this is our chance: show whatever realm this man is from that we're not taking their demon dung. But if there is one thing I didn't inherit during the split, it is remorse and sympathy, Eric. If you are going to defect so easily, I'm ashamed. I placed myself at the top of the battle order instea dof you on several occasions for you. I took an impaling in the hand for you. I will have no problem seeing you as another faceless mook if you go through, and I swear to Helvetia I will strike you down if need be." Edited May 24, 2012 by Endgame Quote

"The Maginastra is making you delusional, Erik. You are listening to our conversation as if it was a book! It's sad though, really... an 18 year old only a decade or so older then the ones he was saving suddenly giving up all he worked for over a few simple sentences. Even the most delusional fool could se the error in his ways about what the maginastra is doing. I have dwelled on this world for 428 years, Eric - 427.5 more than my welcome - and I am NOT as easily decieved as you, hatchling. You dare mock the name of my goddess? After this final battle, you'll be under her jurisdiction - how's that for irony? Are we waiting for Mizuki's response? Edited May 24, 2012 by Endgame Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Yes, Mizuki should chose which side to fight on, even though the majority has spoken. Also I will be away and unable to post for around 20 hours, will be able to post again in the evening UK time, just to let you all know. Quote

Tachyon Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Did you read his actual opinion? You do know that means being a traitor, right? Yes but what Erik thinks is morally right and the maginistra should have the right to have a second chance. Quote

Costy Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Yes but what Erik thinks is morally right and the maginistra should have the right to have a second chance. You do realise that Hlin has not paid us yet. If you go against him I doubt that he will pay him. Also, if we do not kill the Maginistra I do not think the parents of the children will be very happy and will kill him anyway. So it is better if we kill him now so we can get experience and the money. It is still four(Me, Sorrow, Drake and Hlin) against you three. Did I mention Hlin is also a badass swordsman who will kill you with ease. You cannot possibly win. And humans aren't silly, just smelly (except Drake and Hlin). Quote
Myrddyn Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 "I am not actually going against the quest. The quest was to find the children. They have been found. Nothing was said about becoming a vigilante who murders people after they have seen the error of their ways and promised not to repeat them. This magic mansion appeared overnight; therefore, it can disappear overnight. And now those items have been destroyed, there is no way into this room, so the Maginastra is certainly safe from retribution from the parents of the children. In fact, in the opinions of the children, the Maginastra is a nice person who made some nice guardians for them to play with. As for we can't possibly win, those guardians weren't easy to beat, were they? This guy MADE the guardians, so it stands to reason that he is at least as good in a fight as one of them. Now if you guys chose to fight, you will be up against someone as powerful (at least) as a guardian, plus me and Mizuki, with two less people on your side. YOU are the ones who will be at a disadvantage. Tell you what, if you guys agree to not attack the Maginastra, I will step down and not defend him. You guys can go and tell everyone you scared me out of a fight, and then we can leave and the Maginastra can go back to where he came from and you can say that you would have beaten him, but the coward used his magic to flee. You guys are insisting on a fight, I'm just saying if there is a fight, I want to be on this guys team." Quote
Costy Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I would be willing to step down for the right price, such as gold or a better weapon. If he made the house appear he can make more loot appear. Quote
Myrddyn Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Erik is silent for a while, looking at the floor. He looks up at Nagure. "How much gold? Quote
Costy Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) I would like to see how much you or the Maginastra is offering first. And cocoa. Sorrow, if you want my help you're going to have to pay for it as well. Edited May 25, 2012 by Costy Quote
