Bob Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The sausage? I'm not sure, I think it was in my trousers. You can have a bite, brothers share! Though I wish we had applesauce to go with it. Oh, and Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie). I find his interest in the women among us intriguing. Were you trying to spot our Queen, by any chance? Interesting observation. However, Charles was only stating something he saw and I don't know if he had any bearing on who perhaps the Queen is. We must also face the fact that some of us have assumed people of different genders.
MetroiD Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Though I wish we had applesauce to go with it. I still hope Bess will cook for us... Speaking of which, I'd now like to Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob). She's been whining about not having a job all day long, then all of a sudden she starts lecturing people about being productive. What's worst, she won't even cook for me even though she's got nothing better to do. I've been in the kitchen for what, six hours now? No cooking whatsoever. Or sucking. Now that's counter-productive.
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Oh, and Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie). I find his interest in the women among us intriguing. Were you trying to spot our Queen, by any chance? There's not a lot to go on as is usual for the first day but that does seem a little odd of a thing for Charles to mention. I may be old but more women being around never seems like a bad thing to me. It does seem a little clumsy for scum to voice a thought like that, though. I'd like to hear what Charles has to say about it so I'll up the pressure and Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie). Anyone have any threes? Anyone?
Zepher Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I think that the person angry over the accusations is the one that we should be investigating. Since whoever has the most votes will be lynched, I don't have to worry too much about splitting the vote even at this point. So I will Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob). She seems the most suspect... but that might just be my pants talking.
Cecilie Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 All valid arguments here (as valid as any argument can be with the little information we have so far), but I feel that Bess is the slightly more suspicious of the two right now (even if Charles is the one talking ugly about my facial features . I should vote for you just for that!). Anyway, I'd like to hear more from the accused, so to put my share of pressure on, I'll Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob) (I also find it weird that she would stand up for Charles this early in this ordeal, maybe they are scum buddies? )
Hinckley Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 vote tally Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie): 2 votes (Fugazi, CorneliusMurdock) Bess Bulton (Bob): 3 votes (MetroiD, Zepher, Cecilie)
Hinckley Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 You may now vote. You have 48 hours to reach a conviction. The person with the most votes will be lynched. Mod note: Conveniently, the game rules now also reflect this. The person with the most votes is lynched.
Pandora Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 So people are voting for Charles for being worried about having too many women and wanting to chuck Clemence overboard for having a beauty spot. And then others come along and vote for Bess for not knowing what to do, yet insisting we do something, while also possibly stepping in and defending Charles. If Bess is defending Charles, then they might both be scum, and without any better candidates (extremely unlikely on this first day) it makes sense to vote for one of them. I think I'll actually Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie) to keep it at a nice and even three votes all. I'll be curious to see how the voting evolves from there and it'll hopefully prevent any sudden bandwagonning. I certainly wouldn't want the day to end in a tie and without lynch, so I'll be very happy to unvote if no-one else comes forward and places their vote (which really should be unlikely at this stage), or if Charles and Bess remain tied despite more voting. Of course, if we are presented with better reasons to vote for anyone else, or not vote for Charles, then I shall change my vote appropriately as well.
CMP Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Oh, and Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie). I find his interest in the women among us intriguing. Were you trying to spot our Queen, by any chance? Nope. Wait, was that a rhetorical question? Now, does anyone here honestly think anyone else would be dumb enough trying to discern allegiance by how a character looks? I'd've thought we were all smarter than that, really. If we're going to be judging by that, the number of similarities I could point out between our normal identities and our alter egos is astounding. I'm wearing the same kepi as the guards, so I must be innocent. No, even I'm not dumb enough to look at a picture and assume I've caught a member of our royalty or a scum.
Rick Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 If Bess is defending Charles, then they might both be scum, and without any better candidates (extremely unlikely on this first day) it makes sense to vote for one of them. It might be nothing of course, but I'm afraid this indeed is the best "lead" we have today. So, I agree with you that it makes sense to vote for either Charles or Bess. Out of those two, I'm going to vote for Bess as she seems to be the one defending Charles. We all know defending someone on the first day is never a good sign. Either you're defending a Kensmy buddy and trying to avoid a bandwagon forming or you're trying to look like a member of the Royal Court by defending someone you know will turn up loyal tomorrow morning. Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob)
Bob Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I was merely pointing out that such a comment wasn't exactly indicative of being scum. However, with lack of better evidence and since I'm not going to vote for myself; Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie)
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 That's rather weak bussing. So, Charles, you think Bess is suspicious for making a comment that's been taken as a defense of you? Or is there some other reason besides "voting for the other guy" that you're doing it?
Hinckley Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 vote tally Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie): 4 votes (Fugazi, CorneliusMurdock, Pandora, Bob) Bess Bulton (Bob): 4 votes (MetroiD, Zepher, Cecilie, Rick)
Pandora Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Vote: Bess Bulton Ditto. That's rather weak bussing. So, Charles, you think Bess is suspicious for making a comment that's been taken as a defense of you? Or is there some other reason besides "voting for the other guy" that you're doing it? Indeed, Charles if you are going to vote I would have thought you'd do it properly. And I kinda thought someone in your position might want to give some reasoning as to why you'd like us to unvote you? Not just reasons why you're (trying and failing) to vote for Bess?
Fugazi Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Now, does anyone here honestly think anyone else would be dumb enough trying to discern allegiance by how a character looks? I'd've thought we were all smarter than that, really. I'm wearing the same kepi as the guards, so I must be innocent. No, even I'm not dumb enough to look at a picture and assume I've caught a member of our royalty or a scum. I'm sorry Charles, I should have explained myself better. My argument is not that you were trying to draw parallels between our present disguise and our true identities. See, ever since this predicament started I found an image coming back to my mind, that of a green-skinned monster. I suppose that being focused on finding the assassins, their image is constantly coming back to haunt me. A few people did mention the green skin today -- perhaps it's also an image that's been foremost on their minds lately? So what would a scum be thinking of right now? The Royal Family of course. How to find them. Perhaps looking for verbal clues that one is a woman behind their disguise? The Queen is one of a very few 'real' women in our group, she might be easier to spot. So it dawned on me that you might have given some thought to the odds of finding the Queen. Hey I know it's a stretch, but we need to start somewhere and right up to my vote the conversations had been very superficial -- not much to form an opinion on. We all know defending someone on the first day is never a good sign. Either you're defending a Kensmy buddy and trying to avoid a bandwagon forming or you're trying to look like a member of the Royal Court by defending someone you know will turn up loyal tomorrow morning. Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob) I agree with your reasoning. However someone else defended Charles even more efficiently: my brother Meahon, by placing a divisive vote right after mine. Oh, for now I am inclined to think that he's a well-intentioned townie who gave us a (better?) option by pointing out suspicious behaviour. But if Charles turns out to be an assassin, I will certainly reconsider my position.

But if Charles turns out to be an assassin, I will certainly reconsider my position. Reasonable assumption, but assuming that the queen would be a woman is a parallel between true identity and alter-ego; more to the point, who said I ever believed that? If men are capable of being disguised as women, I see no reason the opposite cannot be true. Making an off-handed joking comment about the gender ratio in a situation where nobody has any idea who anybody else is, in my mind, just a silly reason for voting. Of course, this is Day One, so I don't blame you for it. You also fail to notice that while it's entirely possible I was considering the odds of finding the queen in this way, let me also point out that the ratio for finding any members of the royal family is exactly the same as the chances to find a scum. Again, I doubt even scum would resort to such means to try and find a member of the royal family. There's exactly 6 women and exactly 6 men. I think our lovely sorceress put in that little bit of balance to dissuade us from using the gender ratios to try and find scum. I picked that up, did anyone else? If this is a game of using the way we look to find out who's royalty and who's scum, then you may as well pitch me off the plank now. And another interesting little tidbit you let slip: However someone else defended Charles even more efficiently: my brother Meahon, by placing a divisive vote right after mine. What the hell is that about? I'm probably in no position to be pointing out things like this, but that fact strikes me as interesting. Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob) in the meantime. I'm completely voting for somebody who wanted to defend me, because I sure as hell don't know where that came from. Ruben summed it up pretty well, I don't have too much to add. But I'd like Fairon to explain this brotherhood thing first. Color me skeptical, but I don't think the sorceress would disguise people as relatives.
Fugazi Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 But I'd like Fairon to explain this brotherhood thing first. Color me skeptical, but I don't think the sorceress would disguise people as relatives. We are not actually brothers, of course. It's no big mystery though -- it all started with this: Cool helmet... check! Sexy beard... check! Trendy suspenders... check! Engaging smile... check! Brother!!!
CMP Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 We are not actually brothers, of course. It's no big mystery though -- it all started with this: Oh, right. Sorry, was too distracted by all the suggestive metaphors being flung around earlier.
JimBee Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 What's with this sudden change in the winds? Well, I applaud Fairon for getting the ball rolling, because this does tell us something. Or it will, once one of these people are lynched. I'm sure you're all aware of what voting patterns can tell us, so I won't go into it and simply take a chance by voting. Vote: Bess Bulton (Bob) I haven't got a clue, I mean, uhm... just follow me to my cabin goggles, uhm... JP. Aye aye cap'n!
Bob Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Look, I'll say it again. I wasn't defending Charles, I know better than to defend people on Day One. I was just pointing out that perhaps he only made a simple observation earlier in the day...
Dragonator Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hmm. I think it's best to try and think as logically as we can about our votes today, despite the lack of anything to go off. Charles said the c word. Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie) And all that other stuff too, but the mention of poultry was the deciding factor for me.
MetroiD Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 We are not actually brothers, of course. Yup, that we are not - which is probably why you've found it convenient enough to leave a crack open so that you can point the finger in my direction in case my proactive approach backfires on me. However someone else defended Charles even more efficiently: my brother Meahon, by placing a divisive vote right after mine. Divisive vote? Well at least there was no division by zero, thankfully. Truth be told though - you're right, we're still on Day one of our adventure, so perhaps that's the kind of extra cautious / vigilant attitute that can be excused at this point in time. I'm not sure about Charles or Bess' attitude though - what I find quite intriguing is that Bess first stepped in to defend Charles (which was among the reasons why I was prompted to vote against her to begin with), however shortly after that she was more than happy to vote against him. Rather chaotic reasoning, if you ask me... But then again, Charles' "Ditto" wasn't really full of logic either.
Shadows Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Day 1 never makes sense, but there's no point splitting the vote even further by selecting a third party, and I'm kind of curious what happens in a tie. Vote: Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie) Ah, I see what happens, it's like rules magically appear. In case of a tie, there will be no lynch. So now we're at a standoff. If either side feels strongly enough about their vote, they should make a case for it and try to get the opposition to change their vote, otherwise there will be no lynch. Given the lack of any real evidence, that's probably how it should end, but it will be interesting to see if anyone disagrees enough to change their vote.
Hinckley Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 vote tally Charles Pleasance (CallMePieOrDie): 6 votes (Fugazi, CorneliusMurdock, Pandora, Bob, Dragonator, Shadows) Bess Bulton (Bob): 6 votes (MetroiD, Zepher, Cecilie, Rick, CallMePieOrDie, JimButcher)
