If my model consists of two 16x32 buildings that sit next to one another, can the backs of them have fallen away, as if because of an earthquake? Or maybe even cut away by a wormhole opening in space and time? Or must they be complete in every way?

They must fit in in style and theme with the other Modular Buildings. Exclusives are not an action theme, so no.

Dang, I can't just leave the back off the model I'm building anyway and enter it into the competition... Fair enough :)

Great (and fitting) prizes indeed!

One question: Can our category 2 entry include a vehicle, even if it doesn't fit onto the entry/baseplate itself? As in can we have a vehicle parked at the curb of our sidewalk?

About the Modular building style, does anyone know exactly how far the technic 2x1 bricks (with hole) are placed from the sides of a 32x32 baseplate ?

I'm talking about the two technic bricks at the bottom of left and right sides of every modular house, they're used to attach them to each other, I don't have one myself and it's very hard to see it clearly on pictures.

Anyway, basically all I need to know is how many studs are between a technic brick and the end of the baseplate ?

PM me the specifics.

9 studs from each side and 10 studs between each other

Nice, thanks for helping me out

Even though the info provided above is more than enough to answer your question, I also suggest that you download the free building instructions from LEGO for some of the modulars. That should give you inspiration and is easy to measure all the dimensions you might need for compatibility.

Here is an example link and the other ones are easy to find there:

What is the situation (or maybe etiquette) regarding posting WIPs and getting feedback? Is it to be avoided, or is it regarded as perfectly fine to improve your entry with feedback from other users?

I've built my facade only at this point and wouldn't mind some input but I didn't want to somehow void my entry if I took the feedback on board.

The entry post (first post in your entry topic) may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish.

WIPs are fine, but please still title your entry as though it is final.

Sorry, that made it look like I hadn't read the instructions. I understood that WIPs were allowed to be posted, but I was wondering if there was likely to be any impact on doing so and collecting feedback (from a tradition or etiquette perspective) - would people hold back on feedback, or would entries which had been altered due to feedback be marked down, kind of thing.

As with previous Town contests on Eurobricks, there won't be judging, per se, as yours peers will vote for their favourites. So no, we will not penalize you if you ask for feedback.

Is it necessary to make the catagory one entry so that they can attach with the other mini modulars (in other words, put the 2x1 stud brick with two holes in it on both (or at least one) side)?

Yes, on both sides.

Yes, on both sides.

That's too bad, mine would look better w/o them - but I guess I don't need pictures of the sides anyways?

Apologies if this has been stated in the other pages (too lazy to scroll through), but if one member has already created, for example a McDonalds Restaurant, and I've already got plans for the exact same idea, am I still allowed to enter my version of the McDonalds? Or is is a first come first serve basis? By the way, i'm entering in the Mini Mods category.

Feel free to enter with a building type others have done. Obviously, if the build itself is blatantly copied, the entry would not be accepted.

I have a quick question about one of the rules:

"Entries should be new (never posted anywhere previously) and similar in style and size to the previous official TLG releases."

A few days ago I made my own mini-modular building, but I've actually posted about it on another forum. Not for a contest or anything, just a few pictures to show it to people.

Does this disqualify it from submission to this contest?

Feel free to enter it in category 1 of the contest. :classic:
