I think I'm doing this wrong, but this morning, MINGLES's Legend of Zelda project reached 10k supporters!

WOO! Might be some licensing issues, but WOO!

You're not the only excited one. But I still think Ganondorf looks really weird. I would rather have the TP version.

That would be cool if this passes review, but I don't see it happening. It's not the subject matter, just licensing. :sceptic:

Same here... Maybe with some new armor?

Meh...it looks okay. I'm not familiar with Zelda so I'm not getting too worked up over the idea. The only thing that'd excite me about LEGO Legend of Zelda would be some of the new sword designs and an ocarina.

Yay! Congrats 'MINGLES'! :sweet:

I like everything about the Ganondorf figure... except his head. His eyes and teeth look a bit off. I really like the hairpiece, though!

I'm 65% sure this will become a product. Even though K'Nex owns the Mario licensing, LEGO could still get TLoZ licensing.

Well it'll be nice to have the female Elf hair!

Aw man, this is great :) I don't quite believe in a Zelda set happening, but one can dream!

I agree it would be cool, but I do not see it happening :cry_sad:

I wonder how many rejected projects it will take to lose faith in the whole CUUSOO idea?

BTW: WIth these projects getting to the 10,000 mark so quickly it is slightly disappointing that the Western Modulars has not reached there yet :hmpf_bad:

I would also be suprised if this made it through. I might get it for the parts, if at all.

Ganondorf would look better as a Hagrid-sized fig.

I don't know how I feel about this. If it gets made, I'll buy it, but I won't necessarily be happy about it...

I'd like something zelda-ey, but I don't see Lego making all those multicoloured accessories, and the submission doesn't have much more than that plus three minifigs. It needed some proper set ideas and I don't think that diorama is it. Something like link's village where he starts games could be good, or him finding the master sword.

Licensing might be an issue, but then Nintendo have a new console to push this fall, so could do with some free marketing awareness.

Considering the projects most likely to get rejected are all licensed properties, I'm hoping people won't lose faith in CUUSOO altogether, but rather, begin to realize that licensing carries an inherent risk. The built-in fanbase certainly helps carry a project to the review stage faster, but that's offset by the decreased likelihood of passing review, whereas original concepts like the Space Marines and Western Modulars may take longer to reach 10,000 supporters but stand a much better chance of getting the greenlight when they do.

The Zelda set seems possible but by no means guaranteed. If it's produced TLG will almost certainly simplify the proposed new molds quite a bit, since they're so obviously "Zelda-y" that they probably wouldn't see much use elsewhere.

So much potential for a Zelda theme in Lego. Just think of all of the boss fight sets that they could have. But will this actually get the green light?

That's awesome and I wish it would happen as I love the Zelda series, but it won't.

NINTENDO is currently in bed with K'nex. :sadnew:

In cases like this, or with doctor who, where the building toy license is clearly already assigned, Lego should just immediately tell them that it's a non-starter

Even though I've never played a Zelda game for more than 30 minutes. (for shame :sadnew: ) I am really excited about the prospect of Legend of Zelda Lego sets.

As far as I know K'Nex only does Mario sets, but I don't know the details of the contract. Does it give K'Nex exclusive construction toy rights to all Nintendo properties?

As was pointed out by someone to me as well, not necessarily, K'nex's license with Nintendo was apparantly just a single, specific game. :look:

This will be great news to me once TLC and Nintendo announce they sorted out their legal stuff. But then it will be me chanting:

"Let it be based on Wind Waker! Phantom Ganon! Let it be based on Wind Waker! Phantom Ganon! Let it be based on Wind Waker! Phantom Ganon! ...." over and over again mantra-sytle. ;-)

But hey, it'll be Zelda! So, I guess, everything will be okay in the end! ;-)

Be well!

Yeah, Migles had time to whip up a set concept, but he didn't, and seeing as it is ONLY minifigs, this probably has little chance of making it.

Dear Mingles,

Congratulations on passing this milestone of 5,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO for The Legend of Zelda! You're halfway there!

As your concept artwork mostly consists of new elements, we will not be producing a concept model until it reaches the LEGO Review stage. We encourage you to come up with a concept for a single set that you feel best commemorates the game, and we can work from there.

Best wishes as you continue on your journey to achieving 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO.

Your probably right about that :/

There is a set concept there, it's just not the main picture. You have to scroll down through the description for this:

Oh! Well, the gives a higher chance of production, although I think that if Lego were to product this, I hope they would expand on this!

Congrats to the creator for getting the vote, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows nothing about the Legend of Zelda outside of the name. Never played it, know nothing about it.

Contrast that with The Winchester - even if you didn't know anything about the movie, it had zombies (and who doesn't love them?) and a nice modular building (always a great source for parts if nothing else. So fairly broad appeal within LEGO circles.

Who will this appeal to outside of fans of the property? Much like the three models currently produced or approved, I don't have any interest in this.

Now Gauntlet, on the other hand, or Bard's Tale I could get behind, but this one's a pass for me unless the final model (assuming licensing rights could be secured) has some interesting parts at a good price.
