Posted May 9, 201212 yr On MOCpages, LUGPol member M_longer (Marek Markiewicz) presented his BIG 1:17-scale Lego Kenworth W900 Dump Truck. He wrote, "The goal was to have fully IR controlled dump truck, which caused lot of troubles due to high mass of tipper bed (over 0,6kg). This model is driven by single XL motor, front wheels are steered by M motor, second axle can be raised by single M motor, and the tipper is raised by XL motor. Total mass ~2,6kg." May 9, 201212 yr That's a beautiful truck. I love how it combines the best from both system and technic bits. Very nicely done and very impressive!
May 10, 201212 yr OK, I'm glad that you like it. And it seems that DLuders again was faster than me... So now I could say something more, right? It took over SIX month to build. It all started in 2011, with an idea of making dump truck that will use small linear actuators for raising the tipper bed. It worked nice, but I didn't had too many time for Lego at the beginning of the 2012, so completed model was ready for publishing late in... March. For no known reason, when I started making movies showing how it works, tipper raising mechanism went down. It can be seen at the end of the video posted above. Sooo it took another month to rebuild whole frame from scratch, leaving only cabin and tipper intact. In the final version raising mechanism include two 13L gear racks, connected with liftarm to the bed. And as you can see it works quite good, but I did not had enough space to gear it down more. In the meanitme I was working on other model, but it will be published in the Town forum ;)
