OH and yea I think everyone on here would loooove some pikes that are double or triple the length of current pikes...

Ya, I could see pikes done with two separate pieces joined together in the middle some how.

Actually, I'm just plain worried about the weapons. A lot of LEGO's current castle weapons (particularly the swords) just wouldn't fit in with LOTR. I hope they make special moulds for Sting, all Rohan, Gondor, Uruk-Hai, Orc (Mordor), and Goblin swords, and maybe for Aragorn's sword (both Anduril and his ranger one), and Glamdring (Gandalf's sword).Whatever they do, I don't want to have a bunch of really awesome figs and crappy weapons in their hands.

Yeah, Sting in particular seems like it needs to get made, seeing as how its in both LOTR and The Hobbit.

Looking forward to our first glimpses at new minifig gear.

I also hope the hobbits get a black leprachaun Pot with a handle so they have something to cook all their meals in!

Shelob's attack

Here I've found a very good picture where we can see Frodo's spiderweb outfit. That outfit could be the perfect outfit for this set. :classic:

I very much doubt Frodo will have a new outfit for this set. If you look closely you can see that Frodo is already wrapped in black webbing in the preliminary image.

I am positive there will be new armors for this line, and I am almost positive there will be some new weapons as well.

Does anyone know when the first toy fair is that will contain official images?

Early Feb I believe is the most likely, couple of Toy Fairs then and given its a summer release the timing is right. I don't think anybody could say for sure when TLG will do it though, they might take pity and do it earlier

Ya, LEGO giving us early pics  That would never happen!

Webbing aside the costume was still different to what he wore on Weathertop. In FOTR he wore a brown jacket with a red vest. During the Shelob and Mordor scenes it was a white shirt with overalls.

I sure hope frodo doesent get 2 outfits that is just a shirt and suspenders with diferent colors.

I really like the idea of having three different Frodo's. They have the one in the Gandalf Arrives set, the one at weather top, and the one in Shelob's Lair could be similar to the first one, but maybe with some spider web printed on his shirt.

Also, on a note unrelated to LEGO, I just watched the Hobbit trailer on Apple.com, in the trailers section, and all I can say is that it looks amazing!

If you are not excited about these sets yet, this will help Link

Dang, BT beat me to it.

Fantastic trailer. :)

I think that the ork forge will be the battleback set.

3 orks and 1 Uruk-hai

Similar to the first clone wars battleback of 3 clones and a commander.

I suspect the Uruk-hai army we've seen the prelims of is the battle pack for the first wave. Given the orc forge was not in the catalog the utube guy supposedly got those images from, I think maybe it will be an exclusive perhaps with something along the lines of Saruman overlooking the foundry under orthanc.

The great part about getting a Lego Saruman means an updated Count Dooku can't be far behind

If we get one or possible 2 more waves, I think we have a good chance of seeing his Return of the King getup.

Now with a decent idea of what they're going for, here's what I can see in another Lord of the Rings wave. (Can't guess on the Hobbit, since it'll be movie-based, and obviously that isn't out yet.)

Boromir's End

Boromir, Uruk-hai, Aragorn, brick-built tree.

Rohirrim Ambush

Eomer, Rohirrim 2 Uruk-hai, Merry OR Pippin, 2 horses, tent, campfire, destroyed tree.

The Witchking of Angmar

Armored Theoden, armored Eowyn, Witchking, Fellbeast. Some random ruins, since the Fellbeast'll probably be molded.

The Prancing Pony

Butterbur, cloaked Aragorn, Frodo, Nazgul, Nazul's horse, 2 story Prancing Pony, first floor bar, second floor bedroom.

Bridge of Khazad-dum

Gandalf the Gray, Frodo, Moria goblin archer, brick-built Balrog, collapsing bridge.

Attack on Miras Tirith

Gandalf the White, Gondor soldier, 2 orcs, Shadowfax, troll, orc siege tower. Not exactly a scene, but more a mash-up between the siege of Minas Tirith and when Osgiliath was abandoned.

Lothlorien

Galadriel, Haldir, Legolas, Gimli? Frodo, Sam, stone basin (with some function that flips it between Bag End and Sauron's Eye), tree hut, 2 Elven canoes.

Siege of Isengard

Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Merry, Pippin, 2 orcs, brick-built Treebeard. Isengard'll pretty much a scaled-down tower. First floor is kind of made out to be 'under' Isengard from a playset perspective, with a weapons rack and a forge, second floor is the 'library', third floor is the palantir room, fourth floor is blank but with a window (from when Saruman and Wormtonge looked over the Uruk army in tTT.) And of course the top floor.

Organized by size. Tried to get in the whole Fellowship and some new figs. I think we'll have to wait some time for a proper Minas Tirith.

One person you have forgotten: :sweet:

lotr-07.jpg

LotR without Sauron is like Star Wars without Darth Vader.

Back to the Weather top theme:

Yes, maybe you are right, but for the weather-top is the time for the Witchking in demon style is now (here another nice pictue  )

lotr-21.jpg

I still hope LEGO will additional give this set that character.

For Frodo's face I've found an good template here:

lotr-25.jpg

I think Frodo will have two faces (hurt/classic).

Thanks for the trailer-link. I believe this LEGO theme will sell very very well.

What do you think which Hobbit sets we will see?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Damn, you will find the pictures here:

I too think that the best chance of seeing the Witch King outfit will probably be in a battle of Pellenor set with Eowyn, Merry and Theoden.

Could be a big minas tirith set that features some Orcs and soldiers of Gondor too. who knows.

Sauron isn't actually as necessary as Darth Vader because Darth Vader is actually the most recognizable face of the SW franchise. Sauron does not appear in the books in physical form during LOTR and is only seen in the battle of the last age flashback.

there is a chance I think of a battlepack for Rohan. They may make it to encompass the battle of helms deep and put in an Elven warrior too.

Does anyone know for sure that the Elf in the helms deep set is Legolas and not Haldir? I expect it will be Legolas but you never know.

Those prelim sets really doesn't impress me much, though Moria and Helms Deep looks useful enough for pieces. It will be interesting to see the first real pictures of the sets.

I think the idea for an separate minifigures series very well. I think that series could look like an limited impuls-set eddition. If every minifigure is special printed will everybody buy these impuls sets.

And the list for possible characters is very long. :classic:

EDIT: And the list for possible armys is also very long.

Having just watched the amazing new Hobbit trailer, I find myself thinking ahead to the Hobbit-based wave next year.

I can't wait to see how TLC tackles Thorin and his crew.

hobbitsupersize.jpg

That seems like an awful lot of unique hairpieces, beards, and torso prints. Do you guys think we'll really get all thirteen dwarves?

Looks like there should be some fun new ideas in those boxes, but why does mines of moria include human skeletons and not dwarfs!

I certainly hope so. I imagine they'd separate them over the entire Hobbit wave, like how they handled the Fellowship.

Considering the entire movie is based around them and Bilbo, I should hope so. Whether they'll all be in the first wave is more iffy. Lego may spread them out between a couple waves. Hopefully Lego will make all the different beards. I'm looking forward to Bofur's hat as well. :sweet:

My guess would be Toy Fair New York in February (usually around the second weekend).

If you recall the movie this is the scene where the fellowship first ventures into the mines and one of the hobbits knocks a human skeleton down a well, which then triggers the attack by the goblins and troll. There are no dwarves because the mine is abandoned at this point.

It was a dwarf skeleton. A human skeleton would make no sense. And the reason for the LEGO skeleton not being dwarf size is just because TLG probably didn't want to bother with a whole new mould just for one set.

And, in any case, a Lego dwarf's head would be the same size as a Lego human's.
