Yes, I agree with you that if they release any battle packs they shouldn't contain major characters, I just reckon that if battle packs are released they will be after another wave or two :classic: . I'm just going to concentrate on getting all the new sets at the moment!

That is my plan as well. I should be able to get a couple of the Uruk Hai sets to make Helm's Deep bigger and after that see how the budget is looking. I wouldn't mind getting extras of Weathertop, Orc Forge, and Mines of Moria as they look like they will have some good parts but I'll have to see what other expenses come up between now and then.

What I would really love to see in a Battle pack is 5 Elves but I think when we get Battlepacks they will support the existing sets (so Orcs, Uruk Hai and Rohan).

3 chances on Elven soldiers / Battle packs

- The Elves of the Last Alliance, visible in the Prologue, where they fight Sauron.

- The Lothlorien Elves, Who capture the Fellowship once they enter the woodlands of Lothlorien

- The Elves that fight in Helm's Deep are well visible in the movie. And although they are the same Elves as #2, They wear very different colors, and armaments.

Hi all,

Found some set numbers:

*snip*

Don't think we are allowed to show pictures, so be creative.

Cheers

You really missed quite alot...

We've known those for at least one and a half month by now, and the first prelim pictures came out shortly after that, but oh well.

Anyways, I'm quite disappointed with the photo-ban. That's another 2 weeks of waiting for us... :sceptic:

I've just got to hope that Frodo does not appear like that in the Shelob set.. I mean, what,

has Shelob lost the ability to make spiderwebs and decided to wrap him up with computer cables or something?

"Access there is for trade visitors and media representatives, there is also a strict photo-ban" Oh my God, no offence but these two toy fairs were a WASTE :sick::damn::angry:

Really? No photos? SIGH. Guess I have to be productive now. I was planning on spending all afternoon looking at new pictures :sceptic:

The upcoming Star Wars Battlepacks and have characters in them and that really defeats the purpose of the Battlepack. The PotC Battlepack was just about all common characters with one troop guy (if I remember correctly) and my local Lego store still has plenty of them on the shelf. Just troop type minis belong in Battlepacks and hopefully Lego will remember this when they release LotR Battlepacks.

Actually the two new Star Wars Battle Packs are the Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack and Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack that retail at $12.99. Neither of these have specific characters. All you get out of these two Battle Packs are army builders. If you're thinking of Droid Escape and Geonosian Cannon, neither are designated as Battle Packs and they retail at $19.99. The specific characters they come with are R2D2 & C3PO in one and Barriss Offee and Clone Commander Gree in the other.

I don't get it, why don't they allow pictures? I mean, there are no sets in this wave that are based on the upcoming Hobbit movie and it's a licensed theme, so they don't have to worry about their designs being stolen by competitors  I hope they're going to be shown in two weeks or else I get really mad :damn:

It's just to create hype.

It's just to create hype.

It's definitely working....

Toy Fairs sometimes have sets on display in a preliminary stage, which could give people false impressions of the sets. If you put a lot of effort, time, and money into making a set look just right, then you don't necessarily want the first pics of that set to spread all over the internet to be of your crappy unfinished version.

And as Legoman273 said, hype is definitely a factor. You want the full details on new products to come out only when they'll have the most possible impact. In the meantime, slowly releasing pics like TLG has been doing with their posters builds anticipation for the big reveal.

You don't have long to wait-- it's less than two weeks until the New York Toy Fair, where the most photos of new sets always tend to emerge.

Ah thank you so much!

Plus can still give competitors the advantage if needed.

I stand corrected. I've seen all 4 of those sets in some ads together out of the boxes and assumed they were all Battlepacks. I'm glad i was wrong.

While there are some scenes from the movies that highlight the Elves, there are no sets in wave 1 that have non-character Elves in them. Lego is most likely going to release Battlepacks that support the "troops" in the sets instead of introducing a new "faction". There is a slim chance they could do a Battlepack for the Elves since they fought at Helm's Deep but it seems more likely that they would do more Rohan troops and/or Uruk Hai since that would support two sets.

Agreed that is pretty lame. :sceptic:

I'm not sure about the Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack. Lego calls it an "Elite Clone Trooper", and the set seems to sell pretty well. But it's a fact that it is a specific character that is commonly called "Hammer".

I'm sure some of the other astute observers here have noticed, but why don't the hobbits have BARE FEET?

so STING got its own mold, very nearly confirmed, it being on the brick buildt sam means it'll be its own mold!

I must say, no pictures is dissapointing, but what is worse is Shelob. In the pic of the statue Frodo and Sam there is a little bit of Shelob visible, and I'm a bit disappointed with it. Shelob is not red and black, she is black. Also, the head looks wrong. Maybe it is just this pic, but something just doesn't look right to me.

In the movie Shelob has likeone eye, and other half of her face is covered in like blisters and gunk.

Her main body is redish while legs and butt is all black.

Also her "teeth" should be black

The overall design is good for a lego spider tho!

Lets hope they have some white rope for the webbing, it being black is insanely inacurate.

I really hope Battle Packs are released at some point. This would be a win-win for both LEGO and their consumers. I know I wouldn't hesitate to purchase large amounts of these.

Ya, I guess I can't complain too much, it is a hell of a lot better than the recent Aragog from HP.

I'd say ther is a definite reason to complain, but for brick buildt things it's atleast easier to change colors and such for yourself. Unlinke minifigure color mistakes which anoys the hell outta me!

I don't blame LEGO in the no photo policy. In the one month time between the London Toy Fair and the New York Toy Fair changes are made in the sets on display. This is because the new molds and colors often aren't ready until then. A lot of stand in parts are used until the final product is made. This often results in us AFOLs ranting on the nasty looking set. It happens on these forums all of the time. Then the final version is released to critical acclaim.

Right. Who knows? There might be some revised sets or minifigs that we haven't seen in pictures yet! (Like Theodin and Halidir.)
