Odin's son Fred Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 These sets are great. My only "complaints" would be that the only two elves in this wave come in the two most expensive sets (hopefully this will be fixed down the line with a battlepack), that there is still no articulation in the short legs and that these sets are not on the shelf right now. With the helmets on the Rohan guys from the Uruk hai set should look generic enough to build up a Rohan army.
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The FBTB crew are still uploading their pics, including a few showing Eomer:
SWMAN Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I have never seen Lego go to so much trouble to make new molds and completely new pieces as they have for the LOTR. I am really impressed. They could have reused a lot of weapon molds from earlier Castle themes but instead they made them much more realistic and in line with the movies. These are awesome.
Kliq Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The FBTB crew are still uploading their pics, including a few showing Eomer: Thanks for that link! I have been following their uploads as they keep coming in. Upon closer inspection I am THRILLED to see that the wall section of 9471 Uruk-hai Army connects to 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep to extend the wall out as far as you want. Thank goodness!
deskp Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Theoden and Eomer uses same leg print, both are inacurate, the red should be green on both the characthers! and still noone can take off eomers shield and spear when taking a picture of Eomer! And I still wanan see hes back printing, i saw that its there but its all hiding under the cape, showing without the helmet would be usefull aswell. also I wanna see theodens udner armor torso. The elf hair is amazing!
Lynx Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks for the link to the Eomer picture! The Rohirrim look absolutely stunning. I just love the horse head on top of the helmets. Hopefully we'll see a generic Rohirrim battlepack soon!

On other hand when we get new castle theme, look how many amazing pieces they will reuse!
Haltiamieli Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Poor Frodo, he shouldn't have trusted Sam's gardening skills to be applicable to barbering. Even Gollum is aghast.
joeygunns Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 whats up with the orcs hair pieces? since when did the orcs have mullets? my thoughts on the sets gandalf arrvives: cool set to start out on shelob attacks: another cool set not sure if i should get it or not orc forge: no intrest seems like its for army builder fanboys and glowing eyes huh!? weathertop: ive been debating weather or top (hehe) to get this set urukhai army: looks cool but its not emoer! its just a random soldier! mines of moria" looks cool! ill probably get it helms deep: looks cool as well come to think of it i might get all the sets so i can review them on youtube
Dharkan Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Guys, some saying attack of weathertop 59 and some saying 49, which is correct one?
SpiderSpaceman Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Guys, some saying attack of weathertop 59 and some saying 49, which is correct one? The $60 one. Weathertop opens up so that pebbles in the wall become "flickfire missiles"? That shoe in action feature never fails to be a source of unspeakable idiocy Edited February 13, 2012 by SpiderSpaceman

Duke Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) I got one. The Cirth runes over the gate in the Mines of Moria set is just gibberish: njigwbnjiō pdy ēōbō It would have been a great Easter egg if it actually spelled out something! Actually.. it looks like they are Anglo-Saxon runes which say: 'Diordie was here', whoever Diodie is? Perhaps a set designer. Edited February 13, 2012 by Duke
Piranha Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I think I am now on the fence with the new horses.
Fives Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Thanks for the link, but is there a place where I can get these pics and save to my computer? Flickr doesn't allow me to do so.

Fbtb's flickr? some people don't permit download but for them you ought to be able to right-click and select "original" in "more sizes" or whatever they call it. Takes you to the file.

Right click the image, then select a size "Medium 500 for example" , then right click again and select "save image as". EDIT: SpiderSpaceman beat me to it.
deskp Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 urukhai army: looks cool but its not emoer! its just a random soldier! It is Eomer Hes on the wall in most images. And he looks quite cool, dispite hes cape.
CloneMe Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Actually.. it looks like they are Anglo-Saxon runes which say: 'Diordie was here', whoever Diodie is? Perhaps a set designer. Would it be this? Gandalf: Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria
Dwellington Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I was thinking that it might be a web-line sort of feature, but looking at the picture again...yeah, that looks like all those would be good for. Huh.
wesker Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 It is Eomer Hes on the wall in most images. And he looks quite cool, dispite hes cape. I'm curious as to whether the other Rohirim figure is just a random soldier or another named character like Hama or Gamling. Too bad the set is blocking the names on the box

Too bad the set is blocking the names on the box It's def not one of those. If it is a named characther then the likeness is terrible. I'm pretty sure its a generic guy.. he should have brown helmet nomatter who it is.
Niku Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Theoden minifig is amazing, forget about the Uruk, I reconsider this to be the best of this first wave. And yes the exploding wall is fantastic, the interior of Helms Deep is good too, I love Rohan banner. The Uruk Hai army is growing more on me I planned to get one or two, but four would be more accurate. Also I think the small axe of Gimli on Moria set is printed.
