Jakon Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I suppose so. Also, I didn't realize we were getting a Gandalf Attacks set. Wizard gone crazy!

Shasat Spacerider Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I suppose so. Also, I didn't realize we were getting a Gandalf Attacks set. First news of The Hobbit sets maybe? "Dawn take you all and be stone to you!"
JackJonespaw Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 First news of The Hobbit sets maybe? "Dawn take you all and be stone to you!" I'm pretty sure it was meant as: Gandalf Arrives.
Fives Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 First news of The Hobbit sets maybe? "Dawn take you all and be stone to you!" No, no, CallMePieOrDie just accidentally jumbled the names Gandalf Arrives and Sehlob Attacks together.
Owenicus Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Well, at least my wallet will be a lot lighter this summer.
RPGer Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 No, no, CallMePieOrDie just accidentally jumbled the names Gandalf Arrives and Sehlob Attacks together. Oh......CMPOD, what are you doing?
Niku Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 So are we getting a Shelob Arrives set? Yes, arriving on June.
Fives Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Yes, arriving on June. I didn't know things can arrive on months?
JackJonespaw Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Yes, arriving on June. I thought they were coming out late July/early August.
Fives Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I thought they were coming out late July/early August. No, at the Toy Fair, all of the little cards with the set names and prices sitting next to the sets said available June.
Philip Robin Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I didn't know things can arrive on months? It's the latest fashion, I personally drive an August. Quite handy for cramped roads.
Philip Robin Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 On an altogether separate topic, has there been a confirmation concerning the white hand prints on the orc forge Uruk hai? The (prelim) box has it but the (prelim) figure doesn't. Is it specified which is correct or is it still pending?
Fives Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I'm not sure if it is just me, but it seems that the LOTR teaser website is down, which means they must be adding Eomer (with he description of the Rohan soldier) and Theoden to the site. I think once they have those guys on there, we should soon be seeing a proper site.

I think once they have those guys on there, we should soon be seeing a proper site. The site works for me, but now that I just checked, they've added the Rohan soldier (and funnily, Eomer is still portrayed as the Rohan soldier too... just two different pictures), the Mordor orc and naked Lurtz... Now I don't know if they just like to tease us with two different poses of a Rohan soldier with once a wrongly depicted quiver telling us that one of them is Eomer, but it's more likely to be some kind of mistake. Nonetheless, the Rohan soldier looks like a great figure, but I think that it would've looked better if they had used dark grey hips with dark brown legs, instead of full dark brown... at least, that's the kind of thing I'm using for my own soldiers. Other than that I'm disappointed with the lack of a green cape. They've put that on Eomer instead... And now I'm just wondering what the TV ads are going to be like... ~ General Magma Edited March 12, 2012 by General Magma
DaleDVM Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Okay, I've been pondering the cape situation for a while. Gandalf is the first fig to ever get a dark grey cape (in 2009, Lando Calrissian got a light grey cape), and the new short grey capes are only in the Shelob set. I have Lando's cape, which works for Legolas, but Aragorn and Gimli don't get capes. They should each have a grey cape to represent their elven cloaks. Back in 2008 I bout a Indiana Jones set and in the set was CW Anakin Skywalker's head instead of Indy's. I called LEGO, and received a replacement piece, and I got to keep the incorrect piece. So, to get to my point, would it be bad if I bought one Gandalf set and one Shelob set and called asking for replacements capes, even though it wouldn't be needed, so I could get extra capes? I know this makes me sound like a bad person, but it isn't worth buying two of each set just for some capes, and Bricklink seems silly for capes as well. I realize this is a matter of ethics, but what would others here do? I don't think this falls into a grey area, of course it is bad. I would personally go to bricklink. I have barely had TLG replace missing parts out of the sets I buy. Usually, I just go to my collection and grab a piece if one is missing from a set. That said, this is not a capital offense either. You have to do what you feel is right. Also, it is very possible you will be getting multiples of the different characters in future sets. I am sure these are not the only sets that will contain the fellowship members. It is likely you will get cloaks in some of those sets as well.

Delta 38 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Hmm, that's odd. I was sure Sam had a green cape like the other Hobbits (not the same shade of green, but green nonetheless). I know the capes were technically grey, but they look better in green, I think. I'm not sure how often Aragorn has a cape of any kind, but without one he looks kind of odd. Legolas probably needs a cape too.

Legolas probably needs a cape too. Up until Lothlorien, the characters all had different coloured capes (Pippin had a reddish purple, Merry had a greenish cape, Sam had a tan coloured cape and Frodo's was green, and Boromir had a brownish black cape, and then there is Gandalf's grey cape), and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli didn't wear capes (Aragorn had his coat, but he always wears that). After Lorien, all of the Fellowship members were given the grey Elven cloaks. Aragorn wore his from then on until he fought at Helm's Deep, and then wore it again until reaching Minas Tirith. Both Legolas and Gimli wore their's pretty much the whole way through until after Sauron's defeat. Boromir wore his until his death, and the Hobbits wore them when needed. So, for the most part, all of the characters at some point should have grey capes. Aragorn doesn't have his in either of the sets he is in. Neither does Legolas. Gimli wore his at Helm's Deep. And neither Merry or Pippin have their cloaks in the sets they are in. I don't mind Merry and Pippin not having Elven cloaks, and Boromir doesn't really need one either, but they are necessary for the Three Hunters. Sorry for the random rant about capes! Stiel Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I don't think this falls into a grey area, of course it is bad. I would personally go to bricklink. Yeah, I would just go to bricklink too. Since it is in a relatively cheap set that contains some other stuff of value as well, the price of Gandalf's cape shouldn't skyrocket anyway.
DaleDVM Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Sorry for the random rant about capes! I rant about the makeup of battle packs quite often in this thread... If you can't rant here where can you rant? I agree with you Fives that the characters should have more capes. I am hoping the other sets will make up for the lack of capes in this wave of sets.
TheLegoDr Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Regarding the capes, keep in mind that something as crucial as a cape probably wouldn't be "missing" from a set, so they more than likely wouldn't send you a replacement anyway. Plus, they have strict licensing agreements so they won't sell any licensed figures or pieces, so you wouldn't even be able to purchase new capes direct from Lego. That is where the aftermarket comes in handy. And I agree, it being a cheap set seems silly to try to avoid buying mutliples.

The only reason I would buy multiples of the Gandalf Arrives set is for capes and horses, but I don't really want a bunch of Gandalf and Frodo. Also, I do want an extra short grey cape for one of the two Gimli figs I'll have. I'm pretty silly about multiple figs, but unless they can somehow be altered to look like the same character in a different scene, I don't want it. That is why I am fine with getting two of the same Frodo figs (one at Weathertop and one in Shelob's lair( because they have two different capes. But, that is just they way I organize my figs, and is rather irrelevant here.

I've never had them question me on any parts that were either wrong, damaged, or missing. I thought I was missing a sticker from the sheet for my Plo Koon's Starfighter. It was strange to be missing a single sticker from a sticker sheet. Turns out, it was stuck to the inside of the box. By the time I found out, they had already sent me a whole new sticker sheet. Another time I got 2 of the same printed piece from the Ultimate Lightning McQueen set. It was the same side of the mouth. They sent me the correct side with no issues. The third time I had to get a replacement piece of a large angled flat tile. It was warped really bad. They sent out another right away. I believe they mentioned about licensed sets something about only allowing to get a replacement part once for a specific set. Or maybe she meant you are not allowed to buy extras of special items like a sticker sheet to a licensed set. Edited March 12, 2012 by sharky
