I can't get that stupid game to work, it just keeps looping through the instruction animation with the "loading" bar never going away.

When you try to play as a character, click on the character's face rather than the play button.

Not sure if it is nationwide or just an error at my local Books-a-million (a US book store) but they had 9470 Shelob Attacks for sale for $12.99.

I actually told the guy at the store that they are normally sold for $19.99 and he double checked and said that was the price in the computer.

Might be worth checking your local BaM

Ah. That works.

Now I just can't seem to control Gimli well enough to get him to stand over the ladder instead of bashing the wall - strike 1, strike 2, strike 3 GAME OVER :ugh:

That one?

Is that Elrond? It looks a bit like Gil-Galad I think. Does anyone think the same?

So if you beat the online mini game you "unlock" the pic?

You don't frequent the Minifig Customization Workshop, do you?

Here's one version, and here The Penguin explains how he made short posable legs. :classic:

Those versions suffer from the exact problem I was worried about, though: they extend the torso while shortening the legs. The resulting minifig lacks any space for even an implied "knee"; their hips connect directly to their feet with no space in between. As a result the proportions are all wrong for Hobbits, Dwarves, or any child-sized minifigure. (granted, they kind of work for The Penguin, but mostly because he "waddles" rather than walks normally).

I do think that it looks a little like Gil-Galad but I am highly doubtful that it's him because he only appears in the extended version. Though based on this image it is more likely Elrond (note the pendant and partial chain shirt on his chest). I guess the fact that the minifigure is holding a spear is what made me think that it might be Gil-Galad.

Elrond is on the left and Gil-Galad is on the right.

It is defenetly Elrond for many reasons, One of them being that they are replicating this facial expression:

Another is that the chest bit is some chainmail and not decorated.

Elrond carried an elven two-handed sword in the movie, like the minifigure in the pic. When you look at the pic, you can just make out where the handle ends and the larger, flat blade portion begins.

I agree.

And while the anthromorphic bunny from the vid looks OK, the same legs would look really bad on dwarves and hobbits for the reason Lyichir said.

Maybe Lego should invent a new shorter torso that would allow enough space for short legs to have a hinge outside of it, like in the regular minifigs?

About Elrond vs Gil-Galad: be serious people, it's ELROND. There is NO way Lego would ever make a minifig of a minor character barely anybody remembers (I'm a huge LOTR nut and I didn't) over a hugely important iconic character like Elrond that not only everybody knows, but appears in the upcoming Hobbit film.

Barely anybody remembers is a matter of perspective. Look at Haldir. I've seen the films countless times and I had no idea who that was except 'maybe that head elf guy who I think gets killed.' That's probably how you would have to explain it to most people as well. I'm not disagreeing with you that it's Elrond, since I think it is too, but it seems to me that LEGO has no problem making characters that aren't the huge main ones.

Eee shorter torso would mean less printing or having to rely alot on printing the hips, and that is always a little off(not lining up correctly).

Personaly I'm fine with short legs not being able to move... I'm not sure kids are tho. Seeing as they wasn't all that happy with the old horse.

Well it made sense for them to make Haldir because

1) We were gonna get a Legolas in at least one set anyways.

2) Haldir is most likely never gonna appear in any other set again, ever, so they threw him in since that's his most significant movie appearance. (The other being Lorien). He's also the closest to a "generic elf warrior" we got in the first wave.

Where as for Elrond, he hasn't been made yet. So if a nobody like Gil-Gahad or whatever his name is, would appear in a Final Alliance set but a minifig everybody has been desperate to get (Elrond) wouldn't, everybody would cry murder. There are 3 main characters people remember from the Final Alliance: Elrond, Isildur, and Sauron. And maybe Isildur's dad.

 i thought the old lego was better but this proves me wrong

LOL, SheepEater, how can you claim to be “a huge LOTR nut” when you obviously haven’t even read The LOTR? How could you not know that the commanders of the Last Alliance (not “Final Alliance”) were Elendil and Gil-galad (not Gil-Gahad), last High King of the Noldor? Elrond was only Gil-galad’s herald at the Last Alliance!

Huh... maybe because I HAVE read the book FIFTEEN years ago (yes, before the movies were even announced), and only ONCE, and as such cannot remember every tiny little detail?

Further, I'll point out that my book looks like this gandalf_book.jpg_thumb.jpg so that's how I always viewed Gandalf, and when people complained that his staff from set 9469 was not elaborate like the movies I'd point out how simply depicted the staff is on the book cover.

In any case, I started re-reading it again last week (right after I finished reading The Hobbit for the first time). Good stuff!

Just watched Chapter 3: The Siege of Helm’s Deep and I think it is the best one so far

It's unlikely Gil-Galad would get made because:

He's almost identical to Elrond. Brown hair, no helmet. At least Elendil and Isildur had different helmets and beard colours.

His main distinguishing feature is his unique spear. Lego won't make a spear just for him, so he's hardly any different from any other Elf.

In the movies he is seen stabbing an orc for a second or two and that's it. H isn't named on screen. You don't see him get killed, as you do with Elendil, so there is no lasting memory of him unless you know who he is beforehand.

However, plenty of Star Wars characters have made it to minifigure form which took me by suprise. By my count there are about sixty LOTR characters (not including those exclusive to The Hobbit) who appear in the movies. Gil-Galad probably makes the top fifty. Who knows.

Hopefully a Last Alliance battlepack may happen and those elves can be modded into Gil-Galad (and Cirdan).

I think that they will make him later on if the theme is successful (which I'm sure it will be), he's different enough to be his own minifigure and many very obscure characters from Star Wars have been released as minifigures. It would certainly be very nice if they did create him.

Some LOTR clips I recomend to watch to get in the mood with these new first wave sets.:classic:

Thanks, those brickfilms are excellent.

Has anyone seen the LEGO Hobbit mosaic? It id pretty good and it was posted on the official Hoobit facebook page  On another topic is there any information on the LOTR LEGO clips to be shown on Cartoon Network?

Bag end is my favourite LOTR set so far. Great building and even better figs (especialy Balin and Bombur).

If, and I say if, the Warg set be introduced... I am hoping not too many ionic characters will be in the set, so it will be a sort of battle box, as the Uruk Hai Army.

Wouldn't it be cool if it contains:

- Warg (or 2)

- 2 or 3 orcs

- Eagle

and one or 2 movie characters
