The official site has been updated. I love the scenic photos - particularly that of Thorin fighting Yazneg.

I was looking forward to the character description of Yazneg, but only Thorin has been added (Bifur is missing, as well).

Most interesting about the video: the warg tails contain rubber and are bendable.

Yeah I just saw it. I only took a glance at the shadow before, saw a tree and because I wanted it to be spiders set, I just assumed it was.

Also, does anyone know who Yazneg is? I know he's an orc but is he the leader of the goblins after the Great Goblin dies, or just a random named orc like Lurtz?

No reason to apologise, LegoLotRGuy! In my mind, the purpose of posting anything in this topic is to share excitement and provide information to other LEGO and/ or Tolkien nerds. I've never cared much for being the first to post something or "internet credit". :classic: The more people mention the update, the more likely it is that other Eurobrickers will read it and get a chance to marvel at the beautiful photos/ watch the video or whatever else they are interested.

As for Gandalf, I agree with you that he is crucial to the scene, and firing burning pine cones without the wizard is something that we won't even see in Peter Jackson's movies (I hope). But then, Gandalf comes in three sets, one of which is fairly cheap (Gandalf Arrives) and one of which I expect to be the best selling LotR/ Hobbit set of them all (An unexpected Gathering), so I am glad not to see the wizard in yet another set at the possible expense of an orc. :classic:

I'm convinced, the person who takes those awesome scenic pictures for the hobbit page has to be Avanaut himself *oh2* (or at least be heavily inspired by him). I mean, compare the Yazneg vs Thorin picture with this one and tell me I'm wrong: Dr. Jones Saves the Day

In answer to your spoiler, I've heard rumor he might be Azog. My bet is that he's just a random named Orc like Lurtz. The One Ring.Net can be a good source for rumors.

I find it puzzling today that when I stopped at Walmart I found Helm's Deep for $57. It's odd because all the other LOTR sets are still full price, but the most expensive set has a significant price drop. I may not be a fan of LOTR but that's a deal I couldn't pass up.

now I will have to scope out all my local Walmart in case one of them has a deal like that!

In the developer video he keeps mentioning that Yazneg is the "leader of the orcs". I dunno if he means all the orcs from Goblin Town, or just the "hunting orcs" who ride the wargs. In the book it never really explains who takes over after the Goblin King dies. Despite this I don't think he is the leader of the orcs that fight in the Battle of the Five Armies because in the book that is Bolg (son of Azog who killed Thror and Nain before Dain eventually killed him). Bolg is in control of the Moria Orcs and that might also explain why some pictures we see more of the green hued goblins from the LotR films (Moria Orcs), and in the Hobbit film trailer they look more pale or pinkish/yellow (Goblin Town orcs?). We have also already seen pictures of Bolg he must be in the films later (and may even be in the first briefly!):

I've been reading about price drops in the LOTR and Avengers lines at Walmart, but haven't found any myself after checking a couple locations. But at $57, I would have cleared the shelves...

Supposedly it's extremely hit and miss with Wal-Mart clearances from what I have read in other threads. A totally random Wal-Mart may clearance a set to 80% off for three days and then put it back at full MSRP, while no other Wal-Mart in a 100 mile vicinity has any clearance at all. If I ever found Helm's Deep for 57 you can betch your sweet bum I would buy every set they had out, but unfortunately I do not count on ever finding them seeing how fickle Wal-Mart is with their clearances.

I totally agree i was just saying that it won't be much fun if you don't get him in one of the other sets

Indeed not. I would buy 2!!

i'd get 7 and sell 4 for $100 each.

$399 = 7 HD

4 HD @ $100 = $400

= 3 HD = $1

Insert troll face here, except this time it actually works!

great deal though.

Hooray!

This should help against the dark age that was trying to pull me down for now.

Glad to hear the theme will continue - now onto getting all the current sets.. Weathertop and the Hobbit ones.

By the way, was there ever a Hobbit figure given away at NYCC or was this a false rumor?

I don't think it ever was, LEGO got the rights to all of the movies PJ makes so why not keep making sets?

That was the logic most people used, but for awhile there were some people claiming the LotR line wasn't doing well and that we would only see one LotR wave. Of course most of us figured that was beyond silly, especially when there was no evidence supplied to back up these claims, and in fact just the opposite with a video of the CEO saying the LotR line was doing very well when asked about other license themes. I mean using logic why would Lego pay a boatload of money for a license only to create one wave for it? And furthermore they left out several very big, iconic sets, and it made no sense to end the line before the biggest driving force was even out (The Hobbit movie).

I must say even though I doubted these claims that the LotR line was ending after one wave, it still feels great to get SOME confirmation the line will continue. A big sigh of relief if you will. This makes me very excited for next years wave(s). I assume Lego will have the Hobbit be the winter/year end wave and the LotR wave be the summer one each year, until the final Hobbit movie when they will probably do two Hobbit waves in a row and push the usual summer LotR wave back to winter. I really hope next summer we get:

March of the Ents - $12.99 - a single brick built Ent that can be made to look like Treebeard, or has several other builds to look like one of the other Ents

The Witch King Duel - $19.99 - Eowyn, Merry, the Witch King with Fel Beast

Mordor Orc Army - $29.99 - 2 Gondor Soldiers, 4 Mordor Orcs, piece of wall that can be added to Minas Tirtih set to bulk it up more

Balrog Attacks - $39.99 - Gandalf the Gray, Frodo, 3 Moria Orcs, a brick built bridge and Balrog and maybe a pillar or case of stairs that can go with the Mines of Moria set

Either Saruman or Sauron's Tower - $79.99 - Saruman's tower would probably make a little more sense, but man I would love a Sauron minifigure. If Saruman's tower they could have Saruman, Wormtongue, 1-2 Mordor Orcs and maybe an Ent with Pippin and Merry

Minas Tirith Defense - $199.99 - D2C(?) - huge Minas Tirith set with Denethor, Faramir, Gothmog, Gandalf the White, Pippin in Gondor attire, 1-3 Gondor Soldiers, 2-4 -Mordor Orcs, a mountain troll. This of course would be the huge flagship set of the wave and coulb ebe combined with the Mordor Orc Army set to further expand it. It could also include a battering ram for the orcs.

If we got these sets I would consider every main set pretty much covered and could die happy with only 2 waves. Of course I would absolutely love to see more sets down the line like Rivendell or something more with the elves, the cavern of the undead, and some battle packs for all the main faction (Gondor, Rohan, Easterlings, Haradrim, each orc type), just to name a few
