These sets look great, not likeing the fleshies yet but waiting for LOTR sets more and more. Great stuff. Hopefuly they are not too expensive but it is a licenced theme so that puts on some extra price.

Awaiting more images

The orc forge and Uruk-Hai army will probably be passed on by those who only want the Fellowship. (Like me.)

More for those who wants lots of orcs

There has yet been only one grainy pic of The Orc Forge, taken by Huw of Brickset. Here is the complete picture in Flickr, here are crops of all the sets separately.

And don`t post those links here.

Why not? It's not like they're prelims and Haltiamieli is deeplinking them. As far as I know, linking to pictures from the Toy Fairs is allowed.

That pic has been linked in this topic a few times already. Which might mean it shouldn't be linked anymore, but there was some posts asking for it or trying to link to it.

I wonder what part is used for the side door of the Helm's Deep? It looks somewhat like this, but I thought it went out of the fashion at least when the other door changed its hinge mechanism?

Does anyone have any idea when lego will officially release pictures of the sets in all their glory? As exciting as that leaked picture was to begin with, it's now left me hungry for further details on the sets :P

I guess it'll be around spring/early summer time since those are second half of the year sets.

Okay, thanks. I guess I'll have to try and forget about the sets for a few months then. That way the wait should be slightly more bearable :P

That will most likely be when LEGO releases pics and info, but we will see good close up and detail pics of the sets from the NY toy fair next week.

Also, I wonder if LEGO will release more posters, like the ones with the Fellowship or baddies lined up, but for Haldi and all the Rohirrim. I can't wait to see how they do Theoden!

From what I remember, there is a throne room inside Helm's deep.

As in "I saw the set at the toy fair/I have other inside information" or "there is a throne room in Hornburg fortress in the movie"? Just checking, these things tend to be confused sometimes. :classic: I have to say I'm maybe a bit surprised if there's a throne room in the set, as the exterior design does not include the inner part of the fortress where the hall would be. But then again condensing things in set design is common and understandable, and some playable interior would certainly make the set less "just figs and grey walls".

If there isn't a full throne room set up, there may still be some tables and chairs. I have a feeling that if there is a flag hanging on the other side of the inner wall, there may be a throne under it, and maybe a place to put Theoden's armour while not in use. There may be nothing, but given that the is a flag, I doubt the room will be totally empty. If it is empty, well, we can always mod it to our own ends.

I just don't like the inconsistency. If the lotr horse molds come just in the that position, it makes the old molds irrelevant. Eventually the old molds will be out numbered, and so on and so.

E.g., with the "fleshies," wow do I dislike them, with HP, POTC and now LOTR, the fleshies will outnumber classic LEGO skins. That inconsistency just bothers me; I know I'm weird. But nonetheless.

To be succinct - just doesn't feel like LEGO. Anyways, I'll buy these sets and love 'em, I'm sure of it. Just being grumpy

But the old mold is featured in another LOTR set. I like the complimentary value so we can use whatever horse we choose when we want. For example there won't always be a need for a charging or rearing horse in say sets they are portraying farm animals or carriage horses.

The fleshies are totally different from the horses, the color tone fragmented the minifigure long ago and many people were/still are upset TLG decided to do it. Also those are used only for licensed minifigs and LOTR is a licensed theme. (I prefer original Castle themes by TLG) A rearing horse does not fragment them but adds diversity to them.

Judging from the German Toy Fair picture, it seems that all the sets in LotR theme will have the new hind-leg-articulated horses (Gandalf's Carriage, Uruk-hai Attack, Weathertop and Helm's Deep). It remains to be seen how well this new mold sits side by side with the old classic one. It seems that the head may have been redesigned with less angular style. But it's hard to say before better pics.

The old mould is not in a LotR set. Only the new one.

The new horse is poseable, and looks almost exactly like the old horse, except the front left hoof is raised.

I can't wait to get these sets. Regardless of what people are saying, I think TLG are doing a very good job with the brand.

You people shouldn't be so perfectionist, remember the sets must have high gameplay for the youngers.

We should be, because we're not youngsters! Everyoneone must look out for their own "needs".

But these sets are made for younger fans of the movies. (Maybe 10-14?) Of course children don't know about all of this; they probably haven't even seen prelims yet.

absolutely right, TLG must first and foremost look out for the little ones! And no i don't mean Hobbits!!!

Playability is the most important feature and then get them hooked on LEGO and we all benefit for many years to come!

Sure, almsot all lego is made for kids, but that shouldn't stop us from commenting on the sets from our own point of view.

Also selling half arsed things to kids cause they don't know any better isnt any good. Not that I'm saying lego is doing that. But it's what could happen if noone cared about acuracy.

I do think lego is doing a rather good job with this theme, but not really having alot of new pictures to look at is gonna make you start scrutinizing the details.

I have to say that I am shocked at the number of people commenting that they won't be getting the Uruk-Hai army or the Orc Forge set. Those 2 along with Helm's Deep are the ones I am most excited for. I think Lego made a great decision by putting in those 2 army building sets for the AFOL's. I have been out of Lego for about 10 years and just got back in this year, but I would say based on my limited experience that this theme has more details and thoughts centered around the AFOL perspective than others I've seen. The army building sets, the sand green pieces tucked into Helm's Deep like Easter Eggs, and some of the new pieces we've been clamoring for(the bley brick faced brick)!

I am really excited for this release and am saving my pennies now! I will definitely need at least 1 Helm's Deep, 2 Uruk-Hai army, and 2 Orc Forge....hopefully more! And I will probably pick up every set other than Shelob Attacks. For some reason that just doesn't do it for me. Probably because I consider myself a builder more than a collector, and the pieces in that set don't look special(so far)

I am shocked that people are saying that without even having seen proper pictures of the sets. I mean, all we have seen yet are some grainy prelim pictures and one or 2 small pictures from toy fair where almost no details are visible. I must say i also didn't like the sets at first sight, but we realyl haven't seen good enough pictures yet to judge anything.

I was able to visit the entire show room at the toy fair. And there is definately a throne below the Rohan flag. I started saving money from the minute I saw the sets for real. And LOTR is not the only theme I'm excited for.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Some people are really into MOCs and want the parts, some people want cute minfigs, some people want to build armies, some people build the sets and put them on the shelf forever.

Personally, I'm an MOCer and a castle guy, with a bit of army building thrown in, so I'll probably get one or two Helm's Deeps, plus some Uruk-Hais, a Moria, and maybe an Orc Forge. Gandalf Arrives and Shelob Attacks don't really do it for me, although I'll definitely pick them up if I can find them on sale.

Not sure what I'm going to tell my five yr old about the movies when I buy the sets however. He's definitely too young to watch them. Sorry, son, you can play with the sets and minifigs, but you're going to have to wait five years to see the movies!

You must be perennially shocked by everything on the Internet then . Never underestimate the ability of netizens to comment on things they know nothing about! Hasn't stopped me in the past!
