Dwellington Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Also, the Moria Orcs have Uruk-hai shields. I'm still kind of upset that they didn't do the Moria helmet, but I understand why they wouldn't have.
djmangunz Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Here they are: Helm's Deep - $129.99 Mines of Moria - $79.99 Attack on Weathertop - $59.99 The Orc Forge - $39.99 Uruk-hai Army - $29.99 Shelob Attacks - $19.99 Gandalf Arrives - $12.99 Fantastic, thanks so much Fives!
Ash Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Did anyone else notice that the Orc Forge in the preliminary pic in the box is actually bigger than the set presented in the Toy Fair?http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/6865915367/in/set-72157629292932379/ I know it's just marketing and stuff but the "hard to find" on the box months before it's released makes me Oh hey, if they already know it's going to be hard to find why not just make more or not make it an exclusive or whatever. Transparent artificial exclusivity is just so dumb.
The_Box Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I know it's just marketing and stuff but the "hard to find" on the box months before it's released makes me Oh hey, if they already know it's going to be hard to find why not just make more or not make it an exclusive or whatever. Transparent artificial exclusivity is just so dumb. Look at the Y-Wing and the green interceptor from this year. The boxes say that they come with hard to find figures. At least from my experience and little bit of research, Lego puts Hard to Find on retail store exclusives. In the US that would be TRU, Target, and Walmart. On a different note, has anyone noticed that there are a lot of Target exclusives in the summer sets? From my frequent visits to Target, they have a pretty pitiful Lego/construction toy aisle at least compared to TRU, where they have at least one full aisle of Lego, while some bigger TRUs even have 2 aisles devoted just to Lego.
Wolvarie Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Any idea on Australian pricing. I roughly add another 1/3rd to the price of the smaller sets and 1/2 to the bigger. Any other Oz fans have any info...just for my budgeting for the next 4 months..
Algernon Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Attack on Weathertop looks awesome. Seriously, I don't understand why people are unsatisfied with this. You get a complete structure that looks grand from every angle, a trapdoor (those are always fun!) and an extra room to play with - no, that wasn't in the movie, but it works - and how many times have we heard complaints about how licensed themes only give you the pieces to recreate a specific scene, robbing you of the ability to use your imagination? This set doesn't. The minifigs are incredible, and the Nazgul's horses look especially wicked. This is the first set I'll be buying from LOTR. It's not a bad set by any means, but the price is grossly inflated compared to what you're actually getting. I think people are used to seeing a lot more bang for their buck. I like the set too, but I'm more than likely going to pass on it because of the price.

It is going to be an expensive Summer/Fall/Winter especially with the new star wars sets. They should have a bundle price.

They should have a bundle price. If LEGO were to have a bundle price for the whole summer wave, I'd be all over it. Maybe throw in an exclusive minifigure to entice fans. I know it's wishful thinking but I'm all but certain that I'll be getting all the sets. Having a bundle would seal the deal.

Maybe not this early in the line perhaps
Kayne Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Wondering if they will put a few together as a super pack? Maybe not this early in the line perhaps Good call...I can't remember how quickly, but they did have some super packs of PoTC. And that line just came out last year, so I would think there is a definite possibilty of it.
llb Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 These sets look fantastic, the details on the minifigs look superb. Unfortunately I don't have the money or space to buy the whole lot! Can we anticipate the UK prices to be the same ie $29.99 for the Uruk-Hai army will be £29.99 in the UK? Not too unhappy with that, could probaly stretch to a couple of sets and hopefully bricklink will become flush with Orcs for around £2.50 - £3.00. And the release is June - early or late do you think? My birthday is the 2nd week of June so if they come out before then

I guess it depends on the stockist then, my local Tesco has only just got the latest CMF (!) - hopefully Amazon will get the LOTR stuff earlyish
surrideo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Potentially stupid question but does the Gandalf Arrives set come with "The Ring"? Looking at at the video on The Brickshow I couldn't see it in the cart. Haven't worked my way through all the videos, could just be that the piece was missing from the display.

I don't think so, seeing as that set is based on a scene in which Frodo hadn't recieved the ring yet.

Maybe not this early in the line perhaps I could see a Helm's Deep/Uruk-hai Army super pack, but beyond that I don't think the sets would make sense together. They only ever do super packs if the sets involved are all similar.
Lynx Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 There's an update on the official website. All posters are displayed and you can click on the images of some minifigures to view info on the character's background. http://thelordoftherings.lego.com/en-us/default.aspx
surrideo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 You can tell the money and care being put into this licence. For a theme that is circa six months away the website is doing great at disseminating information and images, raising awareness of the product and whetting appetites of fans new and old.
Fives Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Those bios are just adorable! LEGO has done a great job with making LOTR approachable for younger kids through these bios. They also don't make anything too scary or hard to understand, and give only the most important details about the characters. I'm excited to see what the final site will look like! EDIT: This has nothing to do with the bios, but, by examining the toy fair pics, I have counted the Helm's Deep set to be 64 studs long from the end of the Deeping Wall to the other end of the castle. And, if you add two of the Uruk-hai Army sets to the Deeping Wall, the whole thing will span two grey A base plates , with the Deeping Wall taking up a full 48 studs, and the rest covering another 48 studs. Just thought this might be useful for people who are wondering about the size of it. Edited February 15, 2012 by Fives

MagPiesRUs Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 There are some nice Toy Fair pics here, including a few interior shots of Helm's Deep's outer wall and the Hornburg.
