Those bios are just adorable!

Yes they are.

A nice approach to Middle Earth and introduction to main characters, full of charisma.

There are some nice Toy Fair pics here, including a few interior shots of Helm's Deep's outer wall and the Hornburg.

Thanks a lot! I was very curious about the interior of the outer walls.

EDIT: This has nothing to do with the bios, but, by examining the toy fair pics, I have counted the Helm's Deep set to be 64 studs long from the end of the Deeping Wall to the other end of the castle. And, if you add two of the Uruk-hai Army sets to the Deeping Wall, the whole thing will span two grey A base plates , with the Deeping Wall taking up a full 48 studs, and the rest covering another 48 studs. Just thought this might be useful for people who are wondering about the size of it.

Wow with 64 studs long not counting the Uruk packs it will be a long set.

I love it even more¡ :wub::classic:

Ya, I was amazed when I realized how long it is, and if you look at the recent pic added above, you can see that the outer wall is also capable of modularity, like the Deeping Wall, meaning that one could add on and make the fortress deeper and create more space between the inner and outer walls.

I'm still kind of upset that they didn't do the Moria helmet, but I understand why they wouldn't have.

I watched the film again yesterday, and I didn't really notice the armoured Orcs the first time around. There's a real missed opportunity there, they look rather scary.

The helmet could have been done. As for having Uruk-hai shields, it's likely they have them because replacements weren't available. The shield is kind of complex, but there's a pretty good chance it could be made.

On another note, the box art is pretty funny. The Orc Forge shows Castle Orcs, Merry is completely oblivious to the Ringwraiths and Pippin is completely oblivious to the Cave Troll.

Can we anticipate the UK prices to be the same ie $29.99 for the Uruk-Hai army will be £29.99 in the UK? Not too unhappy with that, could probaly stretch to a couple of sets and hopefully bricklink will become flush with Orcs for around £2.50 - £3.00.

Yeah retail is £29.99 for that one. Some of them are a bit cheaper than dollars to pounds, but that one ain't. Then again I'm sure we'll be able to get it for a bit off retail even at launch. One of the advantages of Lego being expensive here is we get better specials and deals.... obviously it would be better to be cheaper overall though!

Any idea on Australian pricing. I roughly add another 1/3rd to the price of the smaller sets and 1/2 to the bigger. Any other Oz fans have any info...just for my budgeting for the next 4 months..

Someone leaked details from an online catalogue a while back and they were crazy high. They may not have been the actual prices and it looked like they may have been inflated to allow for a bigger discount.

Ah, found the link: http://www.mrtoys.com.au/products-sub.asp?Category=13&SubCategory=365&SubName=LEGO%20Lord%20Of%20The%20Rings&CatName=LEGO

I'd take these with a grain of salt though. Some look they could be about right, others look way high.

I'm eagerly awaiting the first reviews to pop up, but it's still so far away. About six more months of waiting :cry_sad: .

Is it just me or is Lego getting more detailed with their build? I mean, look at the bottom of the Orc Forge. When was the last time you saw something like that?

I feel that this theme is overall better than most when it comes to detail. It seems that LEGO is definitely targeting these sets at older fans rather than kids. The amount of detail and pieces used is phenomenal. I feel like these sets are more like MOCs than sets!

I've just found this picture on theonering.net that confirms that the newly-"born" Uruk-hai in the Orc Forge is Lurtz, so this will be our first non-generic villain :laugh:http://www-images.theonering.org/torwp/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/The-Orc-Forge-Target-Exclusive-2.jpg

BTW, that black thing inside the Weathertop really looks like a Palantir pedestal, so I hope we'll get a Palantir in the final version of the set, preferably with Sauron's Eye printed on it (even though it doesn't make sense in that scene) I guess we won't get Sauron in his "human" form (seeing that he only appeared in the prologue that way) and the Tower of Barad-dûr seems a little unlikely to me (except maybe as an UCS set), so this would be a nice way to get something Sauron-related

I'm loving this series more and more. Each time there is always something new to look at, something that impresses. Very happy to get a Lurtz confirmation

That might also explain the higher price points and attention to minifig detail. I hope this theme sells well enough for LEGO to go this direction more often in the future.

When I looked at a MOC from an AFOL. And yes TLG is stepping it up. I feel the terrain in the LOTR theme reflects the great scenery of the films, but also gives a nod to castle MOCs. More than any other theme castle seems to lend itself to great terrain.

New hairpiece too? Plus, the Uruk-Hai has a different helmet there...

Be aware those are prelim, I belive we'll get the figures that was on display(perhaps with some modifications) not these illustrated ones.

While a decked out Lurtz would be more usefull I think the "newborn" one is quite cool, it seems abit more grotesque that the common minifig.

I am not counting on this but, wouldn't a Sauron minifigure in human form just be too cool. I would buy at least 4-5 of that set just for that figure alone.

I think that would be an interesting concept. He would have to be made taller than the average minifigure to look right.

The Hagrid/Jack Stone body type should be big enough to pull off the Sauron figure but it would need a lot painted detail and/or some extra pieces to pull off the look of the armor.

Are there any indication to the prices for these sets in the UK?

Helms Deep £99.99

Attack on Weathertop £49.99

Mines of Moria £69.99

Shelob’s Attack £19.99

Uruk Hai Army £29.99

Gandalf Arrives £11.99

Orc Forge £39.99

I think one of these might be wrong but I've forgotten which one!
