Ash Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) I really hope Helms deep is £100 but I'm doubting it......... If it is it hopefully won't be much more. Kingdoms Joust is $120 in the US and £99 here and this is only $10 more expensive in the US. Some of the more expensive sets seem to get further away from the £1:$1 pricing we get on the smaller ones. I saw that price cited independently by a couple of different people who went to the London Toy Fair (http://www.fbtb.net/2012/01/24/uk-toy-fair-2012-lord-of-the-rings-news/ for example) so fingers crossed. With my Lego Discovery Centre 10% discount bringing it down to £90 that would be a pretty good buy, almost certainly the best value for money out of all of them if the price is correct. Fives Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I would really love to see Lurtz done up in all his armor and stuff, but I am happy that Lurtz is newborn in the Orc Forge set. I'm planning on getting two of that set, so I feel that the newborn Lurtz could be used as just generic newborn Uruks. But, I really hope we see an Amon Hen set with Lurtz and maybe a new Uruk scout helmet.
RPGer Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 There are some nice Toy Fair pics here, including a few interior shots of Helm's Deep's outer wall and the Hornburg. Looking good Helms Deep! All the other sets are fantastic too!
______ Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Helms Deep £99.99 Attack on Weathertop £49.99 Mines of Moria £69.99 Shelob’s Attack £19.99 Uruk Hai Army £29.99 Gandalf Arrives £11.99 Orc Forge £39.99 I think one of these might be wrong but I've forgotten which one! Helm's Deep will more likely be £110 in my opinion. Queen Anne's Revenge was £105 and that was smaller than Helm's deep
Artifex Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I always find these discussions about prices kind of funny. I know Lego can be expensive in any coutry or currency, but down here in Brazil Lego costs more than anywhere else. If Brazilians get lucky, Helm's Deep is going to cost something around BRA 600,00, which is about USD 300,00 or UKP 200,00. But that's only if we get lucky -- because it's probably going to cost something like BRA 700,00... Of course Brazilians can always buy from Bricklink or ebay (although not every seller ships to Brazil), but that's more of a collector thing -- the average Brazilian kid will have to choose dearly what to ask for Santa or in his/her birthday. Oh, well. I wish Lego prices went a little bit down. Everywhere.
Wardancer Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Aragorns biography is missing an important point, so allow me to add one sentence: He is the guy who smooches the elvenlady and gets her in the end.
Fives Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) I just found a video on the site Gizmodo. It is just kind of an overview of the sets, and it shows the new horses in running positions, which looks really cool! http://gizmodo.com/5884547/exclusive-videos-of-the-new-lego-lord-of-the-rings Also, I was just thinking about the toy fairs and how they are kind of strange. From the way things look, the sets are finished and ready, but we still have to wait four months for them to be on shelves? Why is that? Why the long wait? Edited February 15, 2012 by Fives

If you look at the orc minifigs, e.g., you'll notice that their faces are stickers.

Oh, ya, I forgot about that! I guess I'm just impatient. I've been waiting and wishing for LOTR LEGO (like most others here) since the films came out. These sets are just too good to wait for! Fives Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks for the link. That video is a great find! Love how they put Aragorn on the Ringwraith's horse I just love how well balanced the new horses are! It doesn't look like they will fall over that much, and their poseability will make them great for MOCs and stop motion videos. I just hope they make more in other colours, like dark brown for Brego (Aragorn's horse), white for Shadowfax, and maybe a dark tan or dark grey. And, maybe we will see a new pony piece for the Hobbit sets, since all the dwarves and Bilbo travel on ponies rather than horses.
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Also, I was just thinking about the toy fairs and how they are kind of strange. From the way things look, the sets are finished and ready, but we still have to wait four months for them to be on shelves? Why is that? Why the long wait? I wonder about that too, it's really strange to see final pictures and bios of the characters this early Compare it too POTC or HP, both themes were given character bios on lego.com, but that didn't happen until 1-2 months before their respective release... I guess it's a cunning strategy to boost the hype
surrideo Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 To be fair, there is nothing that can be revealed that can't be read or watched. Same could have been said for HP, but it's certainly buiding up for a great release come August
______ Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I hope we get a similar battleback to the Castle sets. With 3 Mordor Orks and 2 Uruk-Hai, that would be great, though LEGO would run out of stock quite quickly!

With 3 Mordor Orks and 2 Uruk-Hai, that would be great, though LEGO would run out of stock quite quickly! I would actually prefer battle packs like the recent SW ones, with two soldiers from two warring factions. There could be a Rohan/Uruk BP, a Gondor/Mordor BP, and so on. Then of course, there would need to be a little thing to build, but those could be like little Mordor catapults, little Uruk ballistas, or a little Gondor trebuchet. Kinda lame, but I would still rather that than just figs.

Cwetqo Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Prices will be the same as for PoTC. That means 129eur (I got that confirmed) or 102GPB (might differ a little, but not much). Not all sets match, but at least moria (=whitecap bay) and weathertop (=london) do.
SirSven7 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I can't believe how much of a deal Helms Deep is it seems too good to be true so many bricks such a small price, does anyone have a proof of the english prices any where as I want to make sure. other sets seem a little expensive but no more so than any other licence so I'm not complaining. Cheers everyone

Good potential fleshie zombie face, on Frodo in the Shelob set. Shame we didn't see the Rohirrim torsos, nor Gandalf's. Edited February 15, 2012 by Ardelon

Nothing to build, no treasure chests or other silly elements that I don't need 20 of. Last but not least, no individual characters, cuz I don't want 20 of them either. I don't mean to offend you Fives. I am so confused why anyone would ask for stuff like this? If you want to get sets with both factions and bricks to build, I recommend the uruk hai army set. If any battle pack has more than one faction you are forced to buy both factions even if you only want one. You also end up with even numbers of each side. What if you want more of one faction or the other? Battle packs for each different faction allows you to build armies of any faction in any numbers you would like. Why would you want fewer options and flexibility? If you want equal numbers just buy battle packs from both factions in equal numbers. It is almost like you want a battle pack that you want to buy one or two of. I say that is what the sets ar for. I typically purchase 10 to 100 battle packs to create an army. How many little catapults do you want? If you want more they aren't too hard to come by since they make one in every castle line TLG releases. Little brick constructions just eat into the value of battle packs by taking away from the figs. I do think that the Castle BPs is the better way to go, but from what I remember, they weren't sold in stores other than LEGO stores or online. I was just thinking of something that anyone could buy anywhere.

GRogall Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) The detail of the LOTR Minifigures are quite amazing I think lego is doing a grand job to get them right! Wonder how the Hobbit dwarfs will look? Edited February 16, 2012 by grogall

While I didn't get as many of the first SW BP as I wanted, I did get 10 of the second. I really don't want or need ten BARC speeders, nor ten of the new cannon... But, looks like I will have ten anyways. I'd probably be more inclined to buy more BPs if they were Castle-esque.
