BTappel Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Who would love to see a huge LOTR set with 10-15 minifigs? (I'm thinking a Minas Tirith set.) Who wouldn't?!
Parrothead Rasmus Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 After reviewing all the new sets several times, there's one thing that bother me: Gandalf's hat. I was hoping it would be sand blue.
WampaStomper Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Stop talking about future sets! As much as we would all love to see a UCS Minas Tirith, that sort of discussion belongs in Future LoTR Sets!
Jack Bricker Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I am really hoping that Lego does a nice, big Revendell set for the first hobbit wave later this year. I would also love to see wood elf battle packs. Fingers crossed!
Fives Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I just noticed something that makes me dislike the Moria set just a little. The book of Marzarbul is not printed, but has a sticker. This is just what I think, but if it is true, it would really suck.

LEGOman273 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 You've got to be kidding me! I need that for a MOC, and it's useless if stickered! ( Goes into long rant of Lego LOTR mistakes ). Why is it useless if stickered? Note: All books in the past have been printed, and this was from the Toyfair, so it is likely prelim.

Yeah, I bet it is just because the set at the toy fair is just a prototype. So far, everything that we have seen of the Lego LOTR line Indicates that Lego is really trying hard to put the utmost quality into their sets and thus far from what I have seen I think Legi has succeeded. Oh, I just cannot wait until June! :)
Alex the Great Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 As I said before, I need it for a MOC. But why does a sticker make it useless? But probably doesn't matter since I can't see them stickering the book.
Fives Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Here is a link to the pic of the book that gave me the impression that it is a sticker: I see a bit of a space between the sticker and the book, a bit of a black area that makes it look like a sticker. Then again, I may be (and hopefully am) wrong.

Fives Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 About that picture: Why are Heroica accessories being included in this? I'm guessing they are included to be the scattered old weapons left from the old battles in Moria. It's a neat idea, but I would have proffered some proper weapons.

Then again, I may be (and hopefully am) wrong. Key words "Toy Fair". Plenty of things have stickers that won't be in the final product. I wouldn't get all up in arms and shooting smoke out of ears, . When has a book not been printed in the past? RPGer, I think you can sleep soundly knowing that your MOC won't be ruined by a sticker.
dwarf-brik Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Man, I wonder how much a single Uruk-Hai will go for on Bricklink? Somewhere in the $5 mark? It is going to be a bugger to collect an Uruk army, what with all the cash that will be required.

It is going to be a bugger to collect an Uruk army, what with all the cash that will be required. Actually, I would think the Uruk-hai would be cheaper. Seeing as it is in three sets and in a large quantity, it would be easier to get them. I would think the Rohan soldiers would be way more expensive.
Piranha Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 The sword mold featured in "Helms Deep" is the same sword from the CM Highlander correct? No new quiver where a bow can attach it looks like, cool idea though maybe we will see it in the future? I am very grateful some torso prints don't have flesh so I can swap them and create classic yellow figs. Also I am disappointed we don't get the tan horse from the prelims.

Stiel Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 So, somewhere in the range of $3 to $4 each for the Uruks, do you think? Why not just buy multiples of the Uruk-Hai Army set...? I guess you would be paying $12-16 for 4 Uruk-hai minifigures; along with equipment, it would be closer to $16-20. At that point, you might as well consider the $30 set. I assume you need a few defenders as well, so it's not like a waste. The war machine is nice and the wall is excellent for parts, even if you don't like it that much. At the worst, the war machine+wall, the horse and the 2 human minifigures should each be easily sold for at least $4-5 (possibly more), so you could get rid of what you don't need.

Yeah, I just balk at paying $30 for a set, just so I can get my hands on 4 Uruks. Especially as I don't need the ballista that comes with the set...The wall is nice though. Still, at $30 for each set, it will get pricey quick, as I usually have about 25 figures per army, and I would need to buy 6 of that set to get that many figures. Those 6 sets would cost me $180 total, which would mean that I would be sucking my bank account dry as a bone. I may just have to forget about making an Uruk army, come to think of it. ~Dwarf Edited March 3, 2012 by dwarf-brik
Jack Bricker Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I was just wondering has anybody heard anything about the Hobbit wave coming later this year in terms of what sets. I was wondering because I am really curious what Lego is going to do in terms of elves. I was also wondering what people think of the new sting mold. I haven't heard a lot about it but, I have seen the pictures and I think it looks awesome. Also, does anybody think that Lego will do a Sauron minigure and if they do will it be taller than the rest of the minifigures?
Fives Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Does anyone else find it funny that the teaser website for LEGO LOTR, with the little descriptions of the characters, is not accessible on LEGO.com? I just find it strange. Maybe it is just in my region, but I always have to search the site on Google if I want to check it.
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) I was just wondering has anybody heard anything about the Hobbit wave coming later this year in terms of what sets. I was wondering because I am really curious what Lego is going to do in terms of elves. Honestly I'm completely focused on the LEGO LotR sets that are coming out this summer. I can't wait to have these sets in hand, build them with my kids and admire them. Also, does anybody think that Lego will do a Sauron minigure and if they do will it be taller than the rest of the minifigures? If LEGO makes a Sauron figure, I hope they make it taller just to be accurate. He needs to be able to tower over the other minfigures. Edited March 4, 2012 by Sir_Basil_Ashton
JackJonespaw Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I've finally gotten the money for every single LOTR set!
djmangunz Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) I was just wondering has anybody heard anything about the Hobbit wave coming later this year in terms of what sets. I was wondering because I am really curious what Lego is going to do in terms of elves. Due to the upcoming Hobbit movie release (and the future LOTR Lego sets) I was motivated to reread the Hobbit recently. After watching the trailer a few (hundred) times, some things become apparent. The movie will expand on many of the things that Tolken just mentions in the book like Gandalf and his gang of wizard friends going after the Necromancer. Perhaps there is a chance we can have a set based on that since it alludes to a sword fight between Gandalf and the dark wizard in the trailer. There is also the chance that we could get Beorn (the man-bear) in megafigure form. But it sounds like the second movie will contain the most action and that is when I think we will get the best sets like the encounter with Smaug and the Battle of the Five Armies. My only worry with this line is that I am afraid that it will only last until the release of the second Hobbit movie since Lego shows an interest in tying their Licensed themes to the release of movies and not beyond, i.e. Harry Potter and POTC.
