Niku Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Eh, I don't know if you may have bent the hairpiece, but no, it isn't able to. At least, not the ones I tried.. ~ General Magma No, I have not bent the hairpiece. I mean this hairpiece allows to use a quiver.
General Magma Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) No, I have not bent the hairpiece. I mean this hairpiece allows to use a quiver. *snip* Oh, well then it's a different matter. On that hairpiece the ponytail is further away from the back of the torso itself, while the hairpiece that Legolas uses almost touches the torso.. Which is why they didn't use a quiver. A custom quiver might work somewhere and somehow, though. ~ General Magma Edited April 17, 2012 by General Magma
Durins Bane Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I just cannot wait for battlepacks. I sure hope they do them like star wars, 4 soldiers and a vehicle for 11.99 instead of 5 soldiers for 14.99. It seems like a much better deal. I would like to see battlepacks for the following: Goblins, Orcs, Uruk-hai, Elves, Rohan, and Gondor.
Faefrost Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 It wasn't just you Fives. That movie was beyond crap, it made crap look good! I loved the PotC movies until I saw this. The only redeeming part of it was Geoffrey Rush. Whilst tooling is very expensive, (i'd be surpised if it was a quarter of a million though) I'm sure TLG have no problem with the outlay, the concern would be over whether they could get enough use out of it to justify the cost. That doesn't sound out of bounds for the tooling costs of a new injection mold. Keep in mind that that is for a full sized max size production mold. Not a single new piece necessarily. $200,000 USD is about right for the tooling costs for a full new injection molded styrene plastic model kit. I heard somewhere that the tooling for Revell Germany's new Star Trek Enterprise glue kit was somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000 USD. That assumes molds with a high degree of detail built in and meant for styrene plastic. I' m not sure if molding for Lego ABS plastic costs less? It's really not as insanely high as it seems. It is an amortized business production expense that lasts a long long time generating a steady stream of product throughout it's life.
Durins Bane Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Oh, and I really, really, really wanted to see this in Lego
Philip Robin Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Oh, and I really, really, really wanted to see this in Lego That was a great helmet, but I'm sure that if the LEGO group actually made a new mold out of that, people would complain about it. Also, it would be pretty useless- they would only be able to use it in one set! Oh, well.
Combee Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Oh, and I really, really, really wanted to see this in Lego I would have loved it if they made a mold of that helmet

I would like to see battlepacks for the following: Goblins, Orcs, Uruk-hai, Elves, Rohan, and Gondor. I have a feeling the Goblins, Orcs and Uruk-hai will come in one battle pack since they all bad guys. Rohan, I'm pretty sure will eventually end up with a battle pack since their new helmets and shields are already made. Gondor and Elves could happen eventually but I wouldn't expect to see them anytime soon unless all the Elves in that battle pack have the new ears/hair piece instead of a helmet and come with just a bow and no shield. We'll probably have to wait until after Gondor and the Elves have gotten a big set or two before we see battle packs of them. One thing I hope they don't do is the "verses" battle packs like they do for Star Wars. Personally I would rather get 4-5 troops from one army per battle pack.

My local Lego store manager is moving stores I need to ask him what he's seen. He normally blabs about sets just to make me mad. But If i could wish for anything, anything, It would be for a Fellbeast. Edited April 19, 2012 by Durins Bane

Its not black though I think they will do it. They love dragons these days. and I looked at the 2012 sets book at my local Lego store last night and the Hobbit sets are sick.

I don't know how well you can memorize things, but please, just try. Any additional LOTR sets along with them, perhaps? New Gollum print? New Warg mold? More goblins? Anything that hasn't appeared in the 'The Hobbit' book? (But which will, thereby, be seen in the movie) ~ General Magma Edited April 20, 2012 by General Magma

I always have a hard time trusting people online without anything to back up whatever theyre saying, especialy users with low post count x] So please everyone try and get a look in retail catalogues next time youre in a lego store and report back.

I was talking about a new face print. And uh, yeah.. I really wish I had access to a LEGO store in times like these, I'm pretty sure I would memorize almost everything I'd see in a catalog like that. Someone should run to a LEGO store with a pen and a piece of paper to write down what he saw. ~ General Magma

I'm sorry I mis-stated that. It was a huge spiral book on the sets but no new Hobbit/LOTR as in It, Just place holders. I meant the one coming in June look sick...
reptiman Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I love all these new molds in the line. That new horse will be very useful for my MOCs. The new helmets, armor, and weapons for the orcs are amazing also. I can't remember the last time I got this excited for a line. As for the fell beast, I am near positive LEGO will make one. It had plenty of screen time so I see it likely happening. What will be more interesting for me is if they are going to make them brick-built or molded like the Dino sets.

I can almost guarantee you that it will be molded, and that's probably for the better too, otherwise they'd have to stick with certain design "rules" and such and people would become disappointed, etc... ~ General Magma

That has been the recent trend lately for creatures. I personally prefer brick-built, but the new molds have been great lately. Either way I will end up enjoying it anyway as long as it's poseable and accurate.
piemaster1446 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Did the hobbit sets have names or anything?
Durins Bane Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Did the hobbit sets have names or anything? No... Just a huge red and black square that said the Hobbit in gold... might have said november?? Im not sure. A completley different color scheme from the LOTR boxes. I just purchased a Uruk-hai. I will show Pics within the week.

If they do make battle packs it's much more likely they'll just be minifigs. Star Wars battle packs only include vehicles because another company has exclusive rights to sell Star Wars action figures, which is what minifigs would legally be considered if they didn't also come with a significant buildable element.
Legonardo Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I just purchased *an* Uruk-hai. I will show Pics within the week. ... ... ... ... how?
Durins Bane Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 ... ... ... ... how? Well, Someone i know has one. Itll be shipped tomorrow so pics asap...
