I was searching for Monster Fighters sets at my local TRU, and they had the Gandalf Arrives set there for $14.99 along with Series 7 minifigures. I was low on money (I had about 4 bucks in my pocket) so I just bought a S7 pack though.

*oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* *oh2* What!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! How lucky is that? If only you could go back and grab it, but someone has probably gotten it all ready. :cry_sad:

This news can only mean one thing: reviews. If the sets are starting to trickle down onto the shelves or TRUs, we should be seeing reviews of all the sets within the next couple of weeks. It's a shame you didn't have the money to just get it, but still, thanks for the news.

Holy ba-jeezus, Jack.. xD

I'll see if I have time today to go back, but as someone said, it's probably gone already. I'll try my best though!

Definitely not! I'm probably worst. For one, I'm not sure yet which set I'll get, but whichever it is, it will be for parts only. I might trade the figs with my boyfriend or sell it online. I love the books, but I see these sets mainly as great parts packs.

Am I the only one who'll be buying LOTR sets as medieval parts packs? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the books and movies. But I'd spend way too much if I were to get into LOTR Lego, and the minifigs just aren't that spectacular to me anymore. (Except the orcs). So they'll be part packs, and the orcs will make great enemies for castle MOCs.

Anybody else feel the same way?

I think that the set I am most likely to purchase is 9471 Uruk-Hai Army. The amount of minifigures seems just right - even if the scenery isnt much to write home about. I do like the factory also! Are the "batteries included" for the "light brick"?

I think Gollumn looks great and is my favorite although I'm unlikely to purchase any of the sets with him in unfortunately as the spider is of little interest to me, and the Mines of Moria will be out of my price range!

For all LEGO fans living in Australia:

According to this http://www.mightyape...ing-Soon/page3/ retailer, these are the Australian prices and release date:

Release date: 17 September 2012

Gandalf arrives: 24.99

Shelob attacks: 41.99

Uruk-hai army: 61.99

Orc forge: 75.99

Weathertop: 99.99

Moria: 132.99

Helm's Deep: 230.99

Thank Lynx. Its about what I expected:cry_sad: ...sigh...was looking to buy 3 or 4 Uruk-hai army, Moria and Helms Deep, but the local shops won't be getting my coin. Lego would sell so many more sets in Oz if they dropped the prices a bit...I mean Orc forge close enought o $80?? Gandalf arrives double the US price?? :hmpf_bad: Bricklink here I come...again.

I think this set is brilliant... I will for sure get at least 2 of these.

2 complete (White Hand of Saruman) armor sets, three new orc swords, orc head/ear piece, olive green slopes, reddish light brick and much more fun MOCing stuff. Together with 2 Uruk-Hai Army sets, Mines of Moria and Helms Deep enough to start a new (orcish) armie.

Let the battles begin.

I see the two complete sets of armor, but where is this third sword (one in hand, one on the forge...)?

One is in the forge, one is held by Lurtz, and one is being hammered on the anvil

I'm not willing to pay TRU's markup to get these sets early. I'll wait until June when the LEGO store in Manhattan puts them out for sale.

I totally agree you will pay much more for these sets at TRU early and by X-mas they will be out at discount!

Err, sorry, meant one in hand and one on the anvil (not the forge). I don't see one clearly in the forge...although I do see a Light bley something...

Please, nobody bite my head off for this opinion.

Sort of feel the same way. I will be picking up all the LotR sets and integrate them into my other Castle\Fantasy stuff. The Orcs will be one "bad guy" army along with my current Skeleton and Fright Knight army. I've been converting the last Kingdoms Dragon Knights to fleshies and they (along with my PotC Pirates) will be the allies of Rohan. My yellow Northlander-ish (including the Black Falcons, Wolf Pack and Woodsmen) and Japanese armies will each be their own factions as well. So while I'll be getting the LotR sets to be what they are, they will also be part of my larger Lego Castle\Fantasy world (and all available for Brikwars terrain).

I haven't bought a single set at TRU since LEGO opened a store near me. Yet, I don't think I could wait to get these sets for Xmas. I'm hoping to go down to the US to get the sets at the end of June. Although Canada and the US are neighbours, the US still gets better prices. For what I plan on buying (Gandalf Arrives x1, Shelob Attacks x1, Uruk-Hai Army x6, Orc Forge x2, Weathertop x1, Moria x1, and Helm's Deep x1) I'll save around $200 by buying in the US.

Also, I'm surprised there are so many people that are only planning on getting these sets for the parts. I mean, it makes sense. Some of the parts (Rohan helmets, swords, etc.) would be great on most Castle guys, but a lot of the LOTR stuff, I think, would look out of place with Lion and Crown knights around it. The Uruks and orcs from LOTR will look way more menacing and awesome beside their Castle counterparts. But, to each his own. All I can say is that I probably will never buy another Castle set again because of this theme.

If you look at the high res picture that GRogall posted a couple pages ago you can see it in the forge in the upper right corner. It's in a clip

Really? That's going a bit far don't you think? LoTR doesn't have any true "classic" castles in their lore, and I won't hold my breath waiting for a Minas Tirith or Isengard set any time soon. While I love LoTR, I love building castles and Medieval sets. LoTR is it's own thing, in it's own universe and IMO the two don't have much in common other than swords. I hope Kingdoms returns with a new castle design using the new pieces and accessories from the LoTR sets. That would be the best of both worlds IMO.

The only reason I ever bought Castle was to imitate LOTR. Therefore, with official sets, I have little need to buy traditional Castle sets.

Believe me I wont wait to Xmas to get the set but was just saying that TRU will have them on sale then. I will wait a bit till they come out at the cheaper stores like Wal-Mart and Target and such before I get them. I can wait for the sets just not till Xmas!

There is a Target in the parking lot where I work, and every day when I go out to lunch I swing through there looking for the LOTR sets. No luck yet obviously, but the news that it is at TRU is promising....hopefully just a couple of weeks until they hit Target/Wal-Mart.

As for Orc Forge, that was a Target exclusive right? It is on the Target website, but I have not checked elsewhere to see if it was available anywhere else.

I am really hoping this part is true. The castle sets have come a fair way and the last joust set showed they were heading in the right direction with the Castle theme. I will be buying sets in this wave of sets purely for adding to my castle building and to add to my goblin, wolfen armies. Waiting for a Rohirrim battle pack hopefully next year, now if some goblin warg riders were in the next wave or for the massive five armies battle set sure to be coming in 2013 then I could think of changing my castle theme to a more LOTR theme.

I like the Orc Forge. It would make a very nice display model. However, with only 4 figs and at that price multiples are now not going to happen for me. The printed armor is excellent but this set is just way too expensive for army building with. Perhaps I will buy some printed armor on bricklink? I imagine it will go for a hefty price on there too.

For the people who only collected castle to make LOTR. I am glad you are finally getting what you wanted from TLC. Official LOTR sets are a dream of mine as well. I don't think LEGO will notice you aren't buying castle any more. Very few of the past castle sets really fit in well with LOTR, so I doubt you bought much in the first place.

I am a castle collector. The LOTR sets will eventually go into my larger castle universe. I have over 5000 castle figs and LOTR will just be a small addition to them. I love LOTR but MOCing is what I like to do. Army collecting is nice too. I think the LOTR orcs will fit in nicely with my trolls from the fantsy era. I am not sure what I will do with the fleshies yet. Perhaps I will yellowfy them?

Last but not least I am hoping for some sort of standard with a white hand on it. A proper sized army with hundreds of Uruks will not look proper without some sort of standards. I fear we will not get one as most of the sets including armies of Uruks are in this wave.

I don't even really think of LOTR as a Castle theme. There are obviously A LOT of similarities, but at the same time the style and theme is so very different even if they all use swords and bows, and there are kings and horses. I kinda feel the same with Pirates of the Caribbean.. It's got pirates, captains and ships but it's just so different from the typical LEGO Pirates theme.

I love the Castle/Kingdoms and LOTR sets equally, but in very different ways.
