My local Walmart had four: Gandalf, Shelob, Uruk-Hai army, and Weathertop.

Bought Gandalf and Shelob, almost bought Uruk-Hai, and I refuse to buy Weathertop at that ridiculous $75 price tag.

Toys R Us Canada still doesn't have any LOTR sets.

The thing I've got to say is- why should the rest of the world (Even Denmark) have to wait while you Americans have already had these sets for months? :hmpf_bad:

I'd buy all the LOTR sets now if I could, but seeing as I can't, the Team GB 'figs will have to make do for now. (Though not as replacement LOTR 'figs )

It's hardly the fault of US AFOLs that they were released here first. So watch your tone, please.

Lego has done this sort of thing for many themes. Some Collectible Minifg series show up over there first, others here. We got LOTR this time and you guys got Star Wars. While it would be great if everyone had access to the same sets at the same time, it just doesn't work out that way. And I don't think Lego is trying to screw over anyone with their distribution. I think it's a production and logistics thing that probably causes this sort of thing. So try not to take anything personally.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed that LEGO didn't launch these first-ever LOTR sets everywhere at the same time. This is perhaps the biggest license since Star Wars, and from what I've heard they won't be out for another TWO MONTHS where I live. That's just utterly ridiculous.

It's not like they can produce all the sets at the same time, distribute them and have them all in stock all over the world at the same time. The factories are only as big as they are. You think they make every single LOTR set for every country in one day? Hardly. A new wave of sets almost always appears first in USA or Germany, so count yourself fortunate - we usually have to wait months after that. So far they have been officially out in USA for 2 weeks. The release here is in 2 weeks time I believe, although 3 of the sets have snuck out onto shelves early. We were originally told LOTR sets would be in Australia in September. So far everyone has had these sets released earlier than stated - I imagine Germany, UK etc will very likely have them mid-July if not mid-June.

Keep in mind that we got quite a few lines in March that were out for you guys in November last year.

Here's a nice little discovery I made with google:

Google "Lord of the Rings toys" and see what comes up 4th position.

Better yet, just google "Lord of the Rings" and see what comes up 6th !!! *oh2*

That's...not very helpful, I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to be looking at. Can you just tell us what it is?

Lego's official Lord of the Rings site.

Which comes up 4th on the results when searching for "lord of the rings toys" and 6th when searching for just "Lord of the Rings"

By the way, from reading so many reviews...

I see so many people complaining that Lego gave Gandalf a simple staff...

... they should simply look at this book's cover (my actual book bought in the 90s has this cover)

As you can see, very simple staff, apart from the tiny light coming from the tip end.

A shame not all of them have the animated set intro, those were great!

I agree. I'd also like a design video for Shelob and found the one for Helm's Deep somewhat lacking. Who knows, maybe they'll add some animations yet.

Looks like the official site keeps being updated. It now features separate product and video sections, including a TV ad for the LotR line, showing animations of the fellowship fighting in Moria and at Helm's Deep.

Every body is going to want this! and this

Yes!! I would like those! Thanks, GRogall! Hopefully a global release for these and not limited to the Sun newspaper.

Maybe one or the other will be the free item people get for preordering the Lego LOTR game - although those preorder items are usually just a minifigure and a brick or two (see preorder Lex Luthor minifigure and Captain Jack Sparrow minifigure).

WOAH! xD

If those are freebies in the newspaper at some point, I may have to army build with those Uruks!

Ooh I really hope the sun does another wave of polybags with the new ones we have seen recently.

Both LOTRs

Monster fighters coffin car.

Ghost and clock.

Thor

Hawkye

Plus a few more! Now that would be a dream come true.

Just noticed on LEGO.com the instructions for the LOTR sets are listed under "LofTR/Hobbit". So clearly some Hobbit sets will be on the way soon, maybe even in time for the movie's release in December!

EDIT: From the back page of one of the Helm's Deep manuals:

Hellooooo nurse! On one hand, that Uruk looks like the army building opportunity of the century, on the other, a direct reissue of the Frodo that comes with the most affordable set so far (Gandalf arrives). It's like the best possible, and worst possible solutions they could have come up with. With the purchase of 2 sets, I already have 8 Uruk-Hai, yet only one lonely Rohirrim. Missed opportunity for sure.

Oh well, I'm an optimist. Perhaps there are more to come that will address this issue.

If the poly bag is under $5, hello easy army! Who will be the first to have an army of 10,000 for Helms Deep? Not me the most I can afford is 1,000 if I sell everything I have in BL store.
