Is it really all that worse than Canada? Here weathertop costs $75

Ya, £30 for the Uruk-Hai Army set puts it at just over $47. That's a $27 mark up on the set, compared to $15 on Weathertop in Canada. That's extremely high at almost double what we are paying here in the US.

As for Elrond, I personally don't see him appearing for a few more waves. He just isn't featured in the movies a ton and other than quickly at the very beginning in the flashback, he isn't apart of any wars or battles. That's not to say we won't see him eventually, as I am sure we will if the line continues long enough, I just think they will focus on more iconic scenes first like the Balrog duel, Warg Ambush, Minas Tirith battle, before they get around to putting him in a set.

Not only that, there are other figures that play much more pivotal roles who we still haven't seen either. Ewoyn, Faramir, and of course Sauramon and Sauron. Who knows though, there seems to be a ton of love for Elrond so maybe we will see him sooner rather than later.

Just the normal BS we always get in the UK where the £\$ exchange rate mysteriously becomes 1:1 instead of 1:1.5. So $30 becomes £30. I've got the 4 small sets reserved for pickup tomorrow. But on reflection I'm prolly just gonna pickup the Uruk-hai army, and cancel the rest until we get some better pricing in the UK.

How can the Uruk-Hai army cost £30, when it is the size of one and a half battle packs, not three!

I will refuse to buy any at that price!

:hmpf: Boohoohoo get over it. Uruk Hai Army is $60 here, equivalent to @$60USD, a mark-up of 100%. That's life, it sucks sometimes, but hey...

Ouch!

The price we pay * for the brick. (And the ring)

*no pun intended, but I guess there is a double meaning there!

Hmm looks like the LOTR Lego has been taken down off the Argos website, guess it's not supposed to be out in the UK yet afterall and they've had a telling off from Lego :cry_sad:

Posted

It would make sense if they have been taken down already. TRU have them up on their site as being released August 1st and at much higher prices!

Don't think the prices will come down from what Argos are currently advertising but dont worry i'm sure there are some 3for2 sales aroudn the corner.

I think those Argos prices are the actual UK RRP prices. You can see them on the Lego site: http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Uruk-hai-Army-9471

Not cheap!

At some point we need to get over the exchange rate stuff though. You just can't compare prices like-for-like between different countries because there's loads of other factors involved. When you buy a Can of Coke you don't do some calculations in your head, look up how much it costs in America and then have a meltdown when you find out their cans of coke are cheaper. You'd drive yourself crazy doing it for everything you buy (I know I drive myself crazy doing it for petrol). Lego isn't a special case, we're just more aware of it on an international scale. Obviously people are free to obsess over whatever they like (PETROL!) but at the end of the day comparisons to overseas prices simply aren't a good way to judge value.

Has anyone tried to get the lock off the Elrond picture so we can see the color scheme? Maybe it's like one of those product scenes where it shows the set with something going on around it. We could see Sauron! :classic:

you not a fan of petrol prices, Ash??? It was difficult to tell. Don't go to the middle east, they almost look embarrassed when they tell you it's cheaper for them than bottled water!!

The point is a fair one though, there are too many factors involved to beat yourself up over it. I think the prices are OK to be honest. I'd rather them cheaper but i was actually expecting much worse.

I played the game for an hour trying to beat it figuring that it would unlock something. When I finally beat (boy was it annoying) it didn't unlock anything new. It looks like there are three levels (the first being the defense of Helm's Deep) and only the first is playable at the moment. Hopefully they unlock those levels soon since the game implies that the Elrond photo is unlockable.

Okay thanks! I can't wait to see it!

Just check the actual costume - the chainmail should be dark blue, but is more likely to be some kind of metallic. (Still hoping for dark blue to fit with the cape if we'd ever get him as a figure like this...) - The rest should be gold, and his cape would be dark blue.

Yeah I was trying too, but I stink. I failed three times!

Argos took down the LOTR sets from argos.ie/.co.uk  Guess you could say they were (puts on sunglasses) "there and back again" (YEAAAAHHHHHHHH!) Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It's a tricky game. I didn't realize you had to switch from one place to the other so no area would get overrun. I finally beat it, but it does look like it will be updated with more levels.

As for the Elrond fig, I do hope they make dark blue chain mail printing for him. And if the currently available figures are any indication of the amount of detail being put into these figs, I wouldn't doubt dark blue chain mail. I am also very excited to see the new elven blade in its entirety, and what colour it will be. Maybe this Elrond fig will be included in some special exclusive set released in september, because I really doubt LEGO would leak their own photo on their own site this far in advance. It only makes sense that this figure will appear in a set coming out relatively soon, probably before the Hobbit sets. Then again, this is all speculation.

Yea, it took me a while to figure out what was going on in that game, after that I kept getting overwhelmed on the right side where you have knock the Uruk-Hai off ladders.

I have all the sets built on the shelf, with no duplicates and no extra minifigs.

I broke down which characters need to "juggle" the most between sets if you want every character present in every scene from the movie.

The most needed character, in true fashion of the underdog hero of the story, is actually Samwise! Thankfully though, he comes in a cheap set and as a consequence is relatively cheap on BrickLink.

Frodo: 3 out of 4 scenes (missing in Mines of Moria)

Gandalf: 1 out of 2 scene (missing in Mines of Moria)

Aragorn: 2 out of 3 scenes (missing in Mines of Moria)

Sam: 1 out of 3 scenes (missing in Attack on Weathertop and Mines of Moria)

Merry: 1 out of 2 scene (missing in Mines of Moria)

Pippin: 1 out of 2 scene (missing in Attack on Weathertop)

Legolas: 1 out of 2 scene (missing in the Battle of Helm's Deep)

Gimli: 2 out of 2 scenes.

Boromir: 1 out of 1 scene.

Every other non-fellowship characters: Same as Boromir, 1 out of 1 scene.

Technically, Gollum was in Moria too, but always out sight and never participating in anything.

Technically, Gandalf appeared in helm's deep too, but that was in his upgraded The White form and we don't have a minifig for him yet.

Does anyone know where you can get the two LotR polybags?

Nowhere, yet. No indication of what store they might be exclusive to either, if in fact they are exclusives.

I wonder what Lego expects by releasing "Frodo's cooking corner".

By the time this theme ends we'll have so many Frodos, this massive hobbit clone army will just be able to waltz in Mordor and Sauron won't ever know which one carries the ring.

One does not simply waltz into Mordor.

I just got four more Uruk Army sets and one Orc Forge, and I have come to the conclusion that Uruk-hai look way cooler when there are lots of them. I also love the Mordor orcs, and really want to get more of them, maybe ten in total, along with ten goblins total. But that may not be possible as of right now.

I really like the Lurtz fig. It's nice to have an actual commander other than Nazgul for my baddies. I also don't mind that he doesn't wear armor and is basically naked. It makes him stand out in the army, and gives him this fearless look, as if he's saying 'Yeah, I'm so strong and powerful, I don't even need armor'.

has anyone who's got weathertop please try to answer this. The aragorn minifig, has it got a whole with the 3 bars at the top of the head or is the hole filled?

Thanks
