Though he's also Sauron, which is at least something slightly more humanoid. =J

Well he said hes motion capturing smaug, and is the voice of the necro mancer. Either way we won't see hes face in the movie as either of those.

My guess would just be image error from when they cropped the figs onto a white back ground. What could really be interesting is if these figs came from the front of the box that could be shown this week at SDCC!

Definitely just an error. LEGO's 'shopping jobs are very good, but they're not supposed to be viewed at huge huge huge size! They're good enough that at a smaller size, they usually look great, but zoomed that far in there tend to be some small errors.

Soo many new and exciting beards! default_laugh_new.gif I love the dwarves from the fantasy era, and would love to add some of the new beards and accessories to the few that I have. Can't wait to see what the sets look like!

The manner that these figs are lined up looks a lot like how they would appear on the front of a box. I'm assuming this is the minifig line up for Bag End, and we'll hopefully see images of the rest of the figs, if not actual finished versions on display.

I don't know if someone wrote that but I think (sorry I don't know their names xp) that red-head old guy, third from the left, has got a bigger belly than the others. New minifig torso *oh2* ?

Bombur. He is the fat dwarf, so to show his extra weight, LEGO seems to have made one piece that has his stomach, beard and hair all connected, and it just fits over his head, much like the Gamorrean guards of Wookiees from Star Wars. I think it is the most effective way LEGO could have done it, and I wonder if the extra weight not only protrudes at the front but at the back too.

I was wondering about that as well. I think it will, it would look a little strange if he only had it in the front, after all in the movie he's shaped like a ball

Hope they release high res pictures of the other minifigures aswell. by that I mean within a week! Official photos are so much better than fan photographs, but those are good for diferent views!

Hello fellow members: does anyone knows a good way to get a better looking aragorn(pants and cape). Thanks

Yes. Wait for the next wave of LOTR which will have more stuff from return of the king!

, but the Wargs look a lot like normal wolves, and nothing like those from LOTR.

Maybe a bit off topic but that was a design change Guilermo Del Toro made when he was still in charge. :)

On a more on-topic note, the LOTR sets still haven't appeared in Belgium, I'm not gonna have enough money to buy all these AND the hobbit sets. :(

I wasn't aware of that. I suppose that the Wargs looking more like big wolves is more true to the book, but I don't like it. It means we won't be getting any Two Towers style Wargs until LEGO gets around to making a Warg ambush set. Still, the Wargs appearance in The Hobbit will force LEGO to make a new big wolf mold, which most likely won't be reusable outside of The Hobbit sets.

On another animal related note, I noticed on the big banner poster released that Beorn has some silver strands of hair on either side of his head in bear form. This means two things: in the film, Beorn will ost likely have silver hair  , and that the current bear used in the City sets will not be useable for Beorn, which will forced the creation of yet ANOTHER new mold for this theme! By the time LOTR and The Hobbit is done as a theme, it could possibly be the most expensive theme TLG will have made, due to the sheer amount of new molds needed.

My favorite one is Bombur! I also like Bofur a lot. I'm thinking Balin's face isn't so accurate, maybe the shape of his eyes and the mouth too high.

I don't think PJ would've kept the Wargs like that. Filming began a bit over a year ago, and has ended recently..

For some reason I still think the Wargs should be TTT style, unless anyone can confirm otherwise? The poster depicts them as more wolf-like,

but I'm still hoping for those Wargs to be TTT-styled... I mean, they're shown as shadows after all, we can't be sure

and it would count as a 'continuation error' when placed next to the LOTR movies for me.

Personally I'm very happy about the redesign of the wargs, those hyena mongrels were one of the very few visual designs from the trilogy that I strongly dislike. Though I'm not completely against the warg design from the trilogy being made in Lego, they would be nice enough mounts for non-licenced orcs. I'd just keep them far away from my LotR collection.

My favourite of the dwarf designs is probably Dwalin. Nice new beard, good likeness etc. Then would be Bofur (crazy hat!) and Balin (that beard-hair-combo sits slightly awkwardly, maybe?). Bombur would be my least favourite. I understand the style Lego decided to take and they did a nice job with it, but I'm not a fan.

They could retcon the TTT Wargs as having been bred in Isengard, much like the Uruks, which would explain their appearance.

I have to agree with both statements. The wargs in TTT are silly. And I don't even care if there is going to be a "continuity error" because of the change, at least in the Hobbit they will look like proper wolves.

Those wargs doesent look like finished models, so they could change. Either way they will propably have similarities to the lotr wargs, we might even see diferent breeds of wargs at the battle.

I'm gonna try not to judge the new wargs uintill I see a proper movie image. Or atleast a lit image.

Wow! I'm surprised to see so many people disliking Bombur minifig, it is my favourite. Without that new mold I believe that the Bombur minifig would have looked weird.

On the other hand I've just realized how all this new molds will increase the prices of this sets, and at this rate each set will have at least 20 cents per piece rate :cry_sad:

...Okay, this is getting quite scary right here, my fellow finnjävel said exactly my thoughts. On both dwarf and warg topic. And when it comes to wargs, the Hobbit ones are from the northern Rhovannion between the Misty Mountains and the Mirkwood and the TTT wargs are from Isengard's surroundings. It might solve the continaution error.

I wondering if these Hobbit sets will be released on Northern Europe during this year or the next. The LOTR sets haven't come out here yet, but I think that Hobbit set would sell well near the film's release when there's lot of fuss about it. Bag end set would be ideal Christmas present set.

Personally, I like them all. I'm looking forward to the second wave before I even get a set of the first! My least favourite is probably Bombur, because his hair/beard/fatsuit has very simplistic printing and the hair seems to hang at an odd angle. His chin is moulded onto the part, but also his bald patch. I don't like this beacuse I'd imagine him looking like Ki-Adi Mundi without the hair... Finally his necklace should be a different colour in my opinion as it is hard to tell it apart from his hair. :hmpf_bad:

What's with Dwalin's blue tattoos? I didn't see them in the trailer and they look rather sci-fi and silly.

That's because it's his beard, he braided it.

They're probably there, just much smaller in real life.
