WOW Bag End is amazing.

Look at all that GREEN.

The door looks like its a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6177 with a sticker on it (its obvious from the high-res image and from the evidence of other LOTR sets to date that the set will have stickers)

The small windows look like a new part that's basically a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60474 with a hole in the middle.

Also that map looks awesome and will have to go into my collection.

*oh2* I have no words...

(However, I do have a rather clear vision of where my income will be going this fall...) Jeez Lego, take a kidney why don't ya?

Take a good look at the roof, there is a very strong case for a removeable roof. Two layers of 1-plate thickness on top of each other. I imagine 1 of those to be primarily tiles. That means there is definitely a back (assumption already made due to the lighting) and no horizontally hinged opening.

edit: the lower layer has the indentations consistent with tiles. I am 100% convinced that the roof opens up (I doubt it is hinged, I imagine it would be lift-off).

Bag-End looks stunning, I mean really, it feels so organic for a plastic model. All the small touches, like the carrot stems growing, really capture the homeliness of this iconic building.

Bravo LEGO, bravo. :thumbup::cry_happy:

Great set, I guess the windows are new 4x4 round plates with a hole :)

And perhaps the door is a new piece as well, but probably its a 8x8 round plate in brown.

edit> sorry for this post I didnt saw that somebody posted the same.

Yup, that black tower to the lower left of Helm's Deep is DEFINITELY Orthanc.

Maybe Its the Dragon from the Hobbit ?

There's no way that Smaug will show up in this wave since it will definitely not show up in the first hobbit movie. I've just read the book and...

he only shows up 2/3 of the way through.

Wow, I'm very impressed with the Bag End set, this is easily the most visually-appealing set in the LOTR/Hobbit product line and it's certainly a nice deviation from the conflict-/battle-themed LOTR sets. For a LEGO set it has the "complete look" in it, unlike most playsets which look incomplete (this is like the Battle of Endor playset vs. the incomplete-looking Hulk Helicarrier Breakout, Home One Playset, Batcave, etc.). I also personally appreciate the calm, peaceful and serene greenery of this set as opposed to the dull and boring greys of almost all the LOTR sets. And for once I'd be getting a set not only for the minifigs but because of the totality of the set (build/structure + minifigs). Can't wait to grab this one. :sweet:

Green :classic: the brown look comes from the supposed light brick

Not gonna lie, I was not enthused about a Bag End set at all. But after seeing in in the flesh( brick) my mind is completely changed. From the map to the round door, the detail is fantastic. The only complaint that I have is the dwarfs don't really have those unique weapons they all carry in the movie, with the exception of Dwalin's war hammer. Oh, and Bombur's sausage of course. Anyone who fights goblins with processed pork products has my utmost respect.

I dont know if this has been discussed yet but on brickset there is a list of hobbit sets.

I think they are:

Bag End

Fleeing from the Mirkwood Spiders

The Orc King????

I cant post a link sorry but you can look yourselves

Ouch, it's not a fully enclosed set with a pull off top. I bet that crushed a lot of people dreams/expectations of this set, lol...

Not really, it looks very much "complete" when viewed from the front, sides and even the top. And why would they close/complete the back if this is meant to be a playset? I think it works well as it is, the front looks great display for AFOLs while the back/interiors are good for playability for kids - so a WIN-WIN situation for both target audience.

I actually like the open back. It's make it easy to access the inside, like the Burrow from Harry Potter. Also, look at all that food! A giant pretzel!

Oh I totally agree, it just seemed like a lot of people were talking about how it looked like a complete set with it being fully enclosed, and would be great for displaying and such (and how cool the pull off top was).

Personally I am kind of happy the back is open. This makes it a little more easily accessible for play, and at the same time keeps the price lower. I was a little worried this set was going to be in the $80+ range, but with no back I think it will only be around $60... at least I would hope.

Looking at the interior picture, it still looks like the top does come off.

Also I see not one but 4 new map stickers (3 in the back and one in his hand)

And seeing the back confirms that the door is the 8 x 8 tile.

Is that a Pretzel piece I see there on the table?

This set is looking very much like a must-buy for me, I just hope I can get one on sale :)

thats a good point, the backless wall should hopefully decrease the price by a fair bit
