I just saw the interior, but what is that flesh coloured 'crackling' thing in the middle of the table, is that a new piece?

Nooo! The interior isn't enclosed! Oh well, I'll still buy the set. It's even got a pretzel for goodness' sake! I just need to modify it to have a back and lift-off roof. That's the beauty of Lego...you can change whatever you want!

In reality, there is no back wall to be built anyway. The back is the actual hill the hobbit hole was made from. Just like for Helm's Deep, we couldn't expect Lego to sell us a mountain...

Indeed, here is what it's model after from the film...

I dont know if this has been discussed yet but on brickset there is a list of hobbit sets.

I think they are:

Bag End

Fleeing from the Mirkwood Spiders

The Orc King????

I took a gander myself and it seems that these are the exact listings that we saw from the German toy website. Brickset is one of the most reliable websites out there as far as Lego news is concerned. The only thing that makes me skeptical is that they list the Unexpected Gathering as "Bag End". Of course, that could just be a generalized name. Looks like these are the sets that we will be getting. Kind of bummed. Hopefully the exclusive set will consist of Barrels out of Bond. (Crosses fingers for a really big and expensive exclusive but not from TRU)Come to think of it, I would imagine that the exclusive will come from Target again like the Orc Forge did this summer.

Well I think brickset got this listing from the same german site we did. So its not really more or less reliable this time.

Took one look at that picture and just have to say, that is one amazing set! The organic feel of this thing is spot-on, from the curve of the hilltop to all of those round windows. The pieces that make it up are great too; I really hope the 4x4 plate that makes up the clear part of the window on the left is trans-yellow (though realistically that's probably not so :cry_sad: ), and those 4x4 round plates with holes will make excellent portholes for boats and submarines.

Also, where is this new pretzel piece? I see what looks like cherries in the interior of the house, but these pretzels elude me...

Heres a temporary update to the dwarves picture. Hoping well see some better pictures when people leave the convention and upload some photos.

@Canticleer blues: The plate is clear, not yellow. you can see from the interior shots! :sceptic:

What an amazing set. It truly looks like a MOC. TLG IMHO is in a golden age of set design.

The thing that really gets me going is all of the new molds on the dwarves and new building parts as well. I am loving the new pretzel and what appears to be the 4x round plate with the middle hole.

I'm glad it's got an open back. The alternative would've been a 6 studs wide interior where you couldn't fit much of anything (let alone a band of dwarves around a table), plus as others have mentioned it wouldn't be true to the original if it was enclosed. The open back allows for some kind of interior and playability (these are made first and foremost for kids after all, no matter how much we'd like them to be for AFOLs).

Here. how come there are no good pictures of the set from all angles yet!!!?!?

EDIT, more higher qwuality pictures and angles, But sadly no more Nori and Thorin.

Thanks for the pics. Thorin's hairpiece looks like it would be perfect for Gandalf the Grey and Eomer.

I don’t like how Bofur lacks a beard piece. I hope most of them get a beard piece. I’m replacing all heads with old fashioned yellow smileys, so printed beards don’t help. I may have to track down some 852702 Dwarfs Battle Packs after all. Though really I’m going want a bunch of white beards. Hmm…

Did anyone notice the building error, the tree on the roof is offset by a stud.....Doh !

Seeing the interior I'm now more blown away, dam it I was going to stop LOTR themed stuff after this year.....looks like I'm hooked !

Not so sure that it's Thorin. It might also be Gloin or Bifur.

Blue clothes, black hair no molded beard, Can only be Thorin.

I also have no problems with an open back. The set looks very solid as it is.

Looks like the Red Book of Westmarch on the right of the interior shot. but what is that dark orange or nougat piece on the floor of the set between the book and the table, on the far right? A bundle of firewood?
