Matn Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 What a lovely set Bag End is! It looks like a fan creation to be honest, and it's perfect as a set. It captures the little hill perfectly. Upon further inspection I noticed it's bigger than I thought at first sight. Nice building techniques, lovely shape, sweet colours and awesome minifigures. This is a must get set, and the price is doable. LEGO Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit looks like to become an awesome theme, and I don't even have any of its sets yet. But the figures and the buildings are great, nice to see more of that instead of a vehicle-driven theme.
Moexy Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Seeing this awesome bag end set makes the waiting for the lotr sets almost unbearable! Hopefully they come out in Belgium at the end of this month and not in August Edited July 13, 2012 by Moexy
ZO6 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 After seeing the detailed pics of Bag End on FBTB, I'm in love even more! The interior is packed with lovely details and interesting pieces. It's rare these days to get a set that looks so good both inside and out. I'm very impressed. Good job, TLG! If the quality of the other Hobbit sets is anywhere near the level of this, we'll be in for a real treat!
Brickity Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Wow! I love the interior of Bag End! It's really detailed, I specially like the book area. Weren't we going to see more sets though? Edited July 13, 2012 by Otherworld
Bilbo Baggins Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Really looking forward to Nori, it looks like a great hairpiece
MrBaggins Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Well redish brown would work better, the color they are using seems to be dark orange. Dark brown wouldn't work cause his torso is that. Yes, i think reddish brown is the only right color, definetly not dark orange. But lets wait for better Pics of Lego Nori...
Deathleech Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Looking forward to Bag End and the Orc King most. I hope those orcs will look like the Moria Orcs. A couple more of those and a leader would be great! I can't imagine they would look different since we just got the Moria Orc mold and it has barely been used. Then again if they look way different in the Hobbit movie than they did in LotR I wouldn't be surprised if we saw new minifigs to represent them (which is a good possibility considering how the look of other creatures have changed so much from LotR to the Hobbit). ...from which Gandalf was missing. Perhaps to save him for a Balrog set to be used as an "add-on" to the Moria set? It could have roughly the same size as the Shelob set. Ya, I seriously doubt they will pass up doing a Balrog set. That's one of the most iconic scenes/creatures from the Fellowship of the Ring film. If I had to guess I would say it will be in the next LotR wave, or at the latest the wave after that. Kids and adults alike would eat it up. I'm shocked to see that this new Bag End set doesn't cost more than Weathertop, as it seems full of so many more new molds and colors. Weathertop seems like a less impressive deal now, compared to this. Wearhertop was one of the worst deals in the first Lego LotR wave at 0.14 cents per piece (only Gandalf Arrives was worse and it was a very small set which is common to have a higher PPP). It seemed to get the most mixed reactions of any LotR sets and many people felt it was underwhelming. With that in mind it's no wonder this set seems like such a great deal at $60.
Captain Becker Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Ok, Bags end is again in my "Must get" list, wich is kinda weird as i havent seen an LOTR sets yet im my stores. So i really hope that i can get my hands on the set. Captain Becker
Darth Lurtz Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 If LEGO is smart, they'll make the adventure version of Bilbo only available in Gollum's cave set, for we already have Gollum and the One Ring. It's really impressive what they were able to do with Bag End, I might buy more of it to make Hobbiton.
Falconer Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Have you guys seen the new Rancor Pit set that can be added below Jabba’s Palace? I wonder if we could ever have a second set that could be added on underneath Bag End, maybe called Bagshot Row, which would allow you to work towards a more complete Hobbiton Hill. Just a thought; maybe it could incorporate elements from Bilbo’s Birthday Party (from the beginning of Fellowship).

Just a thought; maybe it could incorporate elements from Bilbo’s Birthday Party (from the beginning of Fellowship). I doubt it. The Rancor Pit and Jabbas palace both have a lot of screen time and are really memorable. The rest of Hobbiton is barely even seen in the movies other than a few quick shots here and there.
Spider-Man Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Ya I would agree not to likely. I think it is more likey to occur in more Star Wars sets, such as a Jedi Temple or something. The only adding on I could think of for current sets would maybe be added onto Moria to include the Balrog?
Rumble Strike Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 All those great pictures of Bag End and yet I just can't get over how cool Bofur's hat is. That's gonna be my favourite Lego piece ever!
djmangunz Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Assuming the German prices are correct: the only problem I see with your speculations is the Warg Attack price. How can that be more expensive than Bag End if we know Bag End = $60/€80 and Warg = ??/€60. Bah, fail on my part. Perhaps the Warg Attack would be about $40, similar to whatever the exclusive could be.
Falconer Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 It seems that new threads in this forum dedicated to speculation about future sets in general keep getting closed or merged with this one. I’m not questioning any moderator decision, I’m just curious: Would it be inappropriate to have a thread dedicated specifically to future set 79003 An Unexpected Gathering? I’ve seen similar threads before. Thanks.
HawkLord Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Bag End? Yes, I'll take two of those to go, please.
jonwil Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Boy am I glad I didn't make the mistake of buying the Weathertop set now :)
narbilu Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I never imagined that there would be 4 dwarves in 1 set, so cool. There are little (smaller / medium sets) with more than 4 main charcters. Good job TLC. We are expecting a lot of these sets, speaking for myself and the rest :) Edited July 14, 2012 by narbilu
frumpy Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Just started picking up some of the LOTR sets. I like the new wall pieces (1x2) with brick patterns. Sooo many stickers though. Also, is it just me or does having alternate faces for Gimli seem silly since you can only ever see his eyes...
Ceroknight Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Is there going to be a LOTR and Hobbit 2013 topic like Starwars and Superheroes soon?
Emperor Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) Is there going to be a LOTR and Hobbit 2013 topic like Starwars and Superheroes soon? I don't think that would be necessary - the Hobbit sets will be released in December, which is in 2012 The two faces for Gimli are indeed not very useful, but I think the eyebrows look different. Since you are able to see them, you can give Gimli a "normal" and a frowning face. Edited July 14, 2012 by Emperor
RaincloudDustbin Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I do actually like the look of this set but I hate all the dwarf figs! Bilbo looks like Sam and Gandalf hasn't changed but the set is cool. I dont see any real need to close the back up it looks fine.
Legonardo Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 but I hate all the dwarf figs! WHA? I guess we all have our tastes

So there is at least one 2013 wave coming- i'm hoping for more!!
