It's not like either of those scenes are secret or surprises or spoilers for the movies. There really is no reason for Lego to hold them back.

The reason would be WB telling them not to. I do hope we get whatever sets were planned

I don't thing Lego would have time to design and produce (and everything that goes with it) 2 new Hobbit part one sets unless they had planned some in a later wave. Also, I don't think Lego would be that. Concerned either way. They don't always match up to the release timelines (Dark Knight Rises) anyway.

I have spoken with one of the managers at one of the local Lego stores, and he said that LoTR sets are not selling nearly as well as they were expecting. The Hobbit movie will hopefully help boost sales though.

TI found this situation really worrying, now that I know some sets will be based on scenes that aren't in the first movie I'm sure they won't sell as well. i just don't want TLG loosing faith on the license :cry_sad:

I don't think sets would sell less just because they arn't in the movie the minifigures and overall branding would drive kids to the sets as much as the other sets I believe.

TLG loosing faith in the lisence is a worry of mine aswell, But I guess they'll release some sets for each hobbit movie either way. The lotr theme is more the worry really.

Lego seems to be plowing through lisences.

IMO, As long as they release each figure (Fellowship is out, just want Saruman and some of the Elves/Rohirim/Gondorians) and the main scenes, I'm less concerned with tons and tons of sets. Obviously there are many Hobbit characters (Smaug please!!!) that I would want as well.

In the long run, I can see how this may have a negative impact on future endeavors, but there isn't really much we can do to affect sales for the current sets...

Besides, Lego has often sold products that feature in unreleased movies - the ROTS wave came out a month before the actual movie. The specifics of the sets don't matter that much, it's Hobbit sets for a Hobbit movie, the tie-in rests generally.

Yes, but The Avengers sets were released a bit before the movie as well if I recall correctly.

However, the scenes depicted in those sets actually appeared in the movie not too long after the sets showed up.

If they released those 2 Hobbit sets along with the rest, it would be a year before the movie with the corresponding scenes actually shows up. Not a month,

otherwise we could start a debate about The Hobbit sets appearing a few weeks before the movie itself as well.

Either way, I would really like to see some more images of other sets from the hobbit, people are speculating that the movie trailer will be released 22. september wich aparently is hobbit day, maybe we should expect some more minifig reveals or set images then?.

@ Comic con they said they would reveal more in the coming months.

Them not release set images I can understand, but the dawrf minifigures shouldn't be a problem seeing as there are ALOT of images of them online already.

Yep I hope we get some sneak peeks on the hobbit day and I also hope we get the trailer earlier, and I'm starting thinking that the rumored sets list is fake,I mean the sets ideas are so obvious I bet this isnt just few spectulations(if I spell it right),we'll just have to wait unfortunatlly.

I find that hard to believe considering how every other source has noted amazing LotR sales. Maybe it's just that particular store?

Well technically nothing should be a surprise since the book has been out for over 70 years, but of course PJ will undoubtedly change some minor things around and add his own stuff in. That's where the only real surprise lies, and more so in my opinion in how he executes everything (the look of all the characters, how the scene specifics play out, etc.). Other than that though, we know...

Smaug dies, Thorin will die, the good guys win the Battle of the Five Armies, etc.

I wouldnt be so sure about that, HP didn't had sets for the sixth film because by the fifth the sets weren't selling well, and if the Hobbit sets sell bad TLG will stop releasing sets or at least make shorter waves.

The 2. movie might be very hyped. with the new people seeing it on dvdv for first time + the fans who saw it in cinema, therefor I think lego will throw atleast some sets at it.

and with the 3. film they will proapbly make a video game in 2014 so I expect some sets to go along with that..... For all we know the Lotr wave might have been made jsut for the video game.

As for the sales, it might be that all the stores ordered alot of sets, hence the CEO says its doing well, while in the stores its not selling as well. It's a little anoying we don't get more specific sales numebrs for all the themes.

With a Warg mold being produced for The Hobbit Wave 1 (in all likelihood), this means we will likely see an Warg battle set from The Two Towers, priced at $20 or under. It would allow them to reuse the Horse 2.0, a Warg mold, as well as the Orc hair/ears and Rohan elements. Cheap, easy to produce and fills a gap as a solid armybuilder so they spend money on expensive new elements like a Fellbeast or somesuch. Do we NEED another battlepack with Rohan guys in it? Not as much as we need Gondorians, but if they released a $20 set with a couple wargs and a couple rider, or a $12.99 with one of each, I'd probably buy half a dozen.

Really hoping this happens as long as the Warg can pose in a similar way as horse 2.0. Really hope it is just mounted horse and foot soldier and mounted warg and foot orc. Nothing else to keep price down as it would be a super army builder. Yes we need more Rohan guys with different face and helm or coif. Would love to see a longer spear similar to the long lance spears of the movie. Maybe one with a blonde beard. A double of Wargs and Horses would be the ultimate builder pack, but would be too expensive to buy more than 5. With a glut of wargs though the price on BL would be ok.

I have no idea why people can't just enjoy what they already have rather than crying over what they may not have? :hmpf:

We have a video of the Lego CEO saying that the LoTR line is doing really well and rumors of the second wave sets. Lotr itself is a theme that has a huge following worldwide and it appeals to kids considerably too. Why would Lego loose faith?!?

Ehh, people "hear" things all the time but that doesn't mean there is any credibility. Until I actually see proof the LotR/Hobbit lines are doing poorly I am not going to get too worried. When the CEO says the LotR line is doing very very well with a huge gin on his face I can only assume he is telling the truth (especially when he was asked about license themes in general and singles out the LotR line).

Wow, looks just as awesome as the dwarves we were shown at Comic-Con. They're doing such a good job on the minifigures!

After closer look I think Oin has got the same as Balin but in grey with white mustache printing.

I don't think so. The white part looks molded - Balin's beard doesn't look like that.

It's just a similar mold.

Oh, after another look I noticed that his mouth is covered by mustache so you're right. They are just so simmiliar that I got confused.
