just2good Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 imo both sets if not made will be replaced by new hobbit sets that are based on other action scenes. I actually don't think they'll be replaced... It's too late to conceive new Hobbit sets. Heck, I think some of the sets are already ready to ship.
Pulp Detective Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Seriosly guys but how can you be sure if the rumored list is even real??We'll have to wait untill octomber 11 to see ourselfs if lego will reveal any official sets. Edited September 29, 2012 by LOTR343

I was convinced it was real ever since they got the set number for Bag-End right back at SDCC 2012.

Well that is true, but the bag end set is real and since the rest of the sets seem to be based on main action scenes it seems like it would be real(as lego most of the time makes sets based on main action scenes) I actually don't think they'll be replaced... It's too late to conceive new Hobbit sets. Heck, I think some of the sets are already ready to ship. Yes but they could easly make a set with in a mounth so.......but if not then i think lego would lose a lot of wasted money.

No, they can't. The logistics of designing, producing, and shipping a new set is a process that takes much longer than a single month. Edited September 29, 2012 by The_Chosen_1
Deathleech Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Yeah I agree. I'm just not convinced that the first movie won't end with appendix A material or something entirely out of the blue. Who knows Ya, that's also the question posed in the link, but that doesn't seem to change when the film ends (before Mirkwood Spiders and Barrels out of Bond). There just might be more filler from the appendices in between that stuff. The first scroll showed everything the current one does except it included the scenes of Gandalf talking to Beorn (in bear form), Bilbo in a forest with spider webs behind him, and at the very end a full image of the dwarves floating down the river in barrels. These all happen in chronological order after the Wargs. It was pretty much confirmed this was the ending of the first film when there were suppose to be two (and also right around the half way point in the book, page 187 of 307 of my book). Now suddenly the image cuts off at the Wargs and eagles and shows a larger/altered version of that scene. This comes RIGHT after the announcement that there will be three films instead of two. This scene also takes place roughly 1/3 the way through the book which would make sense since the first of three films will cover roughly 1/3 the book (page 108 of 307 for me, only 8 pages off from being EXACTLY 1/3). In conclusion it's pretty safe to deduct the film will now end where the scroll does. Why else would they change it right after announcing there will be three films instead of two? And why else would these scrolls depict almost 1/2 and 1/3 of the book, respectively? It just makes way to much sense not to believe. The only real question now is what filler will be in the movies from the appendices that we have no idea about? It seems Radagast plays a large roll in the first film where as he is little more than mentioned in the book. Edited September 29, 2012 by Deathleech
Multiverse Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 It's a shame about Sarumans staff but I have the BF one so I doesn't matter to me. I'm quite happy with how it looks. It works, and they haven't had to make any new moulds. =)
deskp Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Yes but they could easly make a set with in a mounth so.......but if not then i think lego would lose a lot of wasted money. It takes about 6 months crom start to having a finished box with a set.
Deathleech Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 It takes about 6 months crom start to having a finished box with a set. Well they will of had about three months since the announcement of the film being broken up into three parts. Maybe even some time before that if they had insider info. I wonder how long it would take them to "rush" a set?

They probably didn't know about it three months ago as that is when the Russian site got the Hobbit set information...
Haltiamieli Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 On the other hand they wouldn't have had to start from scratch. They have inevitably tried different sorts of sets before ending up with the final line and have many ditched pitches in various stages of design process. Some of the more finished ones could possibly be chosen, dusted off and made ready with some adjustments. And they would have some parts already done, like all the finished designs for the characters (the dwarves) that were to appeared in the original sets. So depending on when they heard that they would have to scrap some of the sets (could be 3 months ago or yesterday), they might be able to offer some new ones instead. Or maybe not. We do not know.
deskp Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 For what it's worth.. The pres release from the action figure company still lists Legolas and Tauriel.
Deathleech Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 They probably didn't know about it three months ago as that is when the Russian site got the Hobbit set information... Who knows. Maybe Lego knew and the Russian site had the older information which they posted? From the time WE heard till the announced release date will of been roughly 3 months. I know Lego has to ramp up production and such a few months in advance and can't go right till November 30 to create a set, but still they did have some time. And as Haltiamieli pounts out, I am sure they had some other ideas floating around and lots of molds and figures already printed that could be used in multiple sets. It's not like they are starting from scratch so I don't think the "regular" production run time is necessarily how long it would take them to make new Hobbit sets.
just2good Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 For what it's worth.. The pres release from the action figure company still lists Legolas and Tauriel. To be safe, though some of you can guess... Legolas appears in the movie....
deskp Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) To be safe, though some of you can guess... Legolas appears in the movie.... I think msot people know that, but in the first or second movie is the question. If the sets really are supposed to be revealed at comic con... can we expect minifig reveals a little before that like we did with the bag end set/sdcc situation? Edited September 29, 2012 by deskp

ghostmind Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 From the LEGO Facebook page (responding to a question about more LotR sets): Hi Khalil! Keep your eye out for more LEGO Lord of the Rings sets! We don't have any specifics as of yet- but we will soon! :)
deskp Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) From the LEGO Facebook page (responding to a question about more LotR sets): 1. "Soon" means nothing anymore. 2. Did you specify LOTR trilogy and NOT the hobbit?, you never know what personal baggage the people answering these questions brings. Edit: saw ur question on facebook, was pretty clear you didnt mean the hobbit x] Edited September 29, 2012 by deskp
HawkLord Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 For what it's worth.. The pres release from the action figure company still lists Legolas and Tauriel. And I can attest that the action figure recall hasn't start for those two yet, because I just found more of them yesterday at TRU. It could be that WB will just let Bridge Direct slide on those, since the product has already been made, is probably already in alot of store warehouses, or is right now on a ship from China. Meanwhile, if TLG isn't releasing their Hobbit stuff till December, than I'm sure there would be time to adjust what they decide issue. TLG could still take the product that was made and re-box it in The Desolation of Smaug packaging rather than the An Unexpected Journey packaging. Either way, for a movie that promises to be epic, it's kind of getting off on the wrong foot.

Ganner Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) Slightly off topic. For all those in the uk the video game retailer GAME, will be shipping the elrond minifigure edition of the "Lego Lord of the Rings" game. http://www.game.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/AjaxCatalogSearch?storeId=10151&catalogId=10201&langId=44&pageSize=20&beginIndex=0&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&showResultsPage=true&pageView=image&predictiveSearchURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.game.co.uk%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2FAjaxPredictiveSearchView%3FcatalogId%3D10201%26langId%3D44%26storeId%3D10151&searchTerm=lego+lord+of+the+rings+video+game&searchBtn.x=0&searchBtn.y=0 Edited September 29, 2012 by Ganner

That is great news I was actually getting a little worried for a second there! I guess that just goes to show we don't know as much as we think we do! TLG has been one step ahead of us it seems.

The chanses of seeing anything from new lotr sets "soon" seems pretty slim though, seeing as there was nothing about it in retailers catalogue for first half of 2013. Unless they have changed their plans to release soemthing with the hobbit sets, or D2C!
Spider-Man Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) I don't expect anything really "soon", but it is good to hear there should be more sets! Everyone talking about the sales numbers and stuff got me wondering about the future of this theme! Edited September 30, 2012 by Spider-Man
