dwarf-brik Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) I think they were available earlier this month, but it seems some people literally bought or took hundreds of them to sell at jacked up prices on eBay. I can only assume this is the case because most the eBayers selling them are located in the same city as a Legoland Discovery Center and I don't know of any other way to currently get them in the U.S. Ebay Lego prices are insane. I've seen single Kingdoms Chess Sets Pawns going for $8 each when you can get 'em on BL for $2. Completely insane. Also: If the "Riddles of the Ring" set is 17 Euros, that means it'll cost us in the states >$20, if the info I found on Euro to USD conversions was up to date. That's really high. ZCerberus Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Also: If the "Riddles of the Ring" set is 17 Euros, that means it'll cost us in the states >$20, if the info I found on Euro to USD conversions was up to date. That's really high. You are assuming the US prices will be set at the EU equivalent prices in USD. That is just not how it tends to work. Riddles will be between 9.99 and 12.99 USD max. US always tends to have best prices.
Balrog Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Mostly, they make a USD price. And to get the Euro price, they usually just delete the "$" and insert "€". That is so crazy.

Ya, generally speaking BL is much better. You can get a Uruk-hai minifig in full armor for like $2.75 there vs the 4 bucks on eBay. That's not even the worst of it. However for the Uruk-hai polybag BL was actually much worse when I was checking with the lowest being 12 bucks and eBay having some deals for around 7-8. As for Riddles for the Ring, it's most likely going to be $9.99 here in the U.S. which is exactly where it should be. It was quoted at $9.99 in a few previews that came out around the time of NYCC and was listed at that for a contest where it was one of the prizes.
Prominence Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Mostly, they make a USD price. And to get the Euro price, they usually just delete the "$" and insert "€". That is so crazy. It's even crazier, at least here in the Netherlands. Take Gandalf Arrives for example: The Netherlands: 16.99 Euro USA: $12.99 16.99 Euro = 16.99 x 1,2931 = 21,969769 which is almost $ 22. That's almost 9 more dollars! Absolutely ridiculous!
ZCerberus Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Threads always seem to devolve into price complaints! I understand it since that is an important factor in whether or not to buy a set- but let's keep price difference between countries out of the conversation as much as possible!
Faefrost Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Am I alone in hoping that Lego makes Sting using the new MF Glow in the Dark Plastic for at least 1 set? Say the Goblin King set? Wouldn't that be a neat effect?

Wouldn't that be a neat effect? That would be cool. I wonder if part of the issue is the glow in the dark stuff now looks whitish before the glow is on and green after. With sting it would be best if it were a gray in the light and blue in the dark. I guess if they made it glow in the dark regardless that could be cool, but if they could do a grey/blue combo, that would be really cool!

Wouldn't that be a neat effect? You're not alone. I was a little disappointed that Sting didn't glow in the original LotR wave, seeing as they had just introduced what is so far their best glow-in-the-dark color yet. As ZCerberus pointed out, though, color would be an issue. I wonder whether that could be solved (at least partially) by blending it with another color, like in the Prince of Persia Dagger of Time piece. But making that piece blendable would probably require a whole new mold, so it's still unlikely.
Lynx Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Here's the info regarding Frodo and Uruk-hai polybags with the Sun. There are other LEGO figures, too, so lucky if you live in the UK. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/affiliates/lego/
Pulp Detective Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Strange the site that was selling the hobbit sets has taken down the list of the sets, well I already ordered the spider set,I dont know maybe because they realesed the sets so early.
Captain Settle Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Yes! Can't wait till saturday. I keep on meaning to buy some uruk-hai, but until now I haven't got any. I'll have to get at least 10 polybags.
Hrw-Amen Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Yes I am thinking in the range of ten polybags for Saturday's Uruk Hai. Not so sure about the Frodo one as you only need a certain number of Frodos but I guess the heads and that will be useful for other converstions. I've used some of this weekends heads and hands to convert some old castle figures and a couple of spare dwarves and similar from the CMF to fleshies so they can be combined with the other Lotr and Hobbit stuff. It is the only ones I have fleshies in, the rest are yellows. I am not into the Marvel or DC comic ranges so it did not matter to me to do that. Does anyone know if they plan to make any battle packs like they have with star wars and a few others, only looking at my Moria set today it looks a little bland with only two goblins/orcs when in the films it was literally crawling with them, same goes for Helms Deep for that matter and no doubt other sets still to be released. Huntleyfx Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Offhand, has anyone in the States seen where the Uruk-Hai polybags are? I definitely want at least one. (I'm trying for the whole range from the beginning.)

I'd think it's a good bet to get some Orc/Goblin packs at some point. I'm sure it's not a top priority right now, as Lego is trying to flesh out the line (getting Fellowship members in each set). Offhand, has anyone in the States seen where the Uruk-Hai polybags are? I definitely want at least one. (I'm trying for the whole range from the beginning.) Nothing in the US that I've found. So, far I just have the Frodo polybag from TRU and that was somewhat tough to find. I'm really hoping if the Uruk-Hai polybag gets here, that it's a Target or Walmart item, as I have a better shot at those. And I certainly hope it's not one of those TRU polybags where you have to buy their marked-up sets just to get one.

Supposedly they are available at Legoland Discovery Centers, but other than that I have not heard of them being anywhere else here in the U.S. And even then, the Discovery Centers seems hit and miss. There is VERY little info available about the polybags like I mentioned before in this thread. Edited October 28, 2012 by Deathleech
Kayne Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Every year Target has polybags in their christmas area, so my hope is to find the Uruk-hai polybag there. It usually sets the day after Halloween, so I will be looking on Thursday for sure!

Albus Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Wish they did polybags with papers here in Oz I totally agree with you! Australia also needs a LEGO Brand store!
Moexy Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I totally agree with you! Australia also needs a LEGO Brand store! So does Belgium or Netherlands A glow in the dark Sting would be indeed very nice, it doesn't even have to be in an other color, we already have enough of the normal Stings.
Captain Settle Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 A glow in the dark Sting would be indeed very nice, it doesn't even have to be in an other color, we already have enough of the normal Stings. That wouldn't work because new lego fans would end up with loads of stings which, unless you use lego with the lights of, are a lot worse than normal stings.

Yeah that's what I meant, it doesn't have to be all of the Stings in glow in the dark material, just one or two sets with the GID version. Like that fans have both normal gray Sting and a GID Sting.

Also there seems to be two stings in each set,so they could keep one normal sting and replace the extra with a GID one, so you get both in one set. One more thing, the Hobbit teaser site says that it will show the Mirkwood Spiders set today, but it's not coming up for me. Is it coming up for anyone else?

The Riddles for the Ring set is still the most recent one. It was uploaded rather late last week, too. I think today will show the Attack of the Wargs, rather than the Mirkwood set, though.

The page clearly shows warg attack being the set shown today.
