HawkLord Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Whoa, hate those goblins. Ever since I saw the Grinnah action figure I had a bad feeling about the goblins, but I thought he might have just been an exception. Now it looks like all the goblins will be little half-naked freaks. The Dwarves look good, though.
Fives Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Well, if people are upset with the goblins, here is a link to some images just released, which give us a good idea of what these guys look like. They sure are the ugliest orcs in all of PJ's movies. http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/11/9/four-new-photos-from-the-hobbit-featuring-goblins-and-trolls.html

Pulp Detective Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) Well I like how the goblins are so ugly, after all it isnt a movie for kids. Edited November 10, 2012 by LOTR343
Prominence Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Well I like how the goblins are so ugly, after all it isnt a movie for kids. That's odd, because I read an interview with I think Gandalf's actor the other day and he said The Hobbit would be less dark than LOTR.
Balrog Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 That's odd, because I read an interview with I think Gandalf's actor the other day and he said The Hobbit would be less dark than LOTR. That might just mean, that we will get to hear more songs from the characters :) After all, The Hobbit was a book for kids afaik.

They sure are the ugliest orcs in all of PJ's movies. http://geektyrant.co...and-trolls.html Those goblins look more like the mutated humans from the Hills Have eyes imo. I don't think I am a fan... Did they just sell out right now? They probably just wanted to list them for when they were released. They did the same for the LotR waves here in the U.S. when they first came out. They listed them all, then right after listed them all as out of stock. A few weeks later they went up for sale for good. I would say give it a week or two and they will probably have them all listed for sale again!
Miles Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Those goblins look more like the mutated humans from the Hills Have eyes imo. I don't think I am a fan... I'm not so much either, though the one that really bugs be is the Goblin King. I'm all for him looking scary, but I just find his design...repulsively awful.. Could his jowls possibly look more disgusting? It's...almost offensive. What am I saying? It is offensive. I can definitely see Del Toro's influence in that one. He has a bit of a thing for taking unflattering, gross aspects of anatomy (usually human) and infusing them into his creature design. It worked for Pan's Labyrinth, but I don't particularly care for it in regards to the Hobbit. I like my fantasy scary and cool, not vomit-inducing, lol.
Pulp Detective Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Overall I like the new look, they look much more realistic rather than the LOTR trilogy, after all we'll have to watch the movie to find out,we cant judge by watching the pics. That's odd, because I read an interview with I think Gandalf's actor the other day and he said The Hobbit would be less dark than LOTR. I agree but that doesnt make the movie more kid friendly.
Masked Builder Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 No sign of the sets on the US site yet, I'll keep looking... It shouldn't be long though.
Hrw-Amen Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Are those goblins exactly what the northern goblins are supposed to be like? Reading the Tolkien books I got the impression the goblins of the Misty Mountains were the poorer cousins of those in Mordor? The ones in Moria were I think smaller and less well equipped. I certainly get the impression the further north you go the less they wear and the more tatty they look. Basically they have to arm and build things themselves without the guiding hand from Mordor.

I share this viewpoint as well! And people shouldn't have a gripe with the great goblin because even in the book he was described as repulsive and grotesque I think all the designs are great and even better in LEGO! It's gonna be a good Christmas
Kez Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Did they just sell out right now? No they just listed them only (which is a shame) :(
HawkLord Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Heads up. Sounds like Fred Meyers stores are getting in the Hobbit sets - Riddles, Warg, and Goblin King sets.

Great news for all the Pacific Northwest people! It does not look like next weeks ads are on the site yet, but there still is a 10% off all home (toys included) valid today for FM.
vlai23 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 I picked up the An Unexpected Gathering set at a Fred Meyers here in Portland on Thursday. Over on Rebelscum, a user in Seattle reported finding the other three sets, but I haven't seen them here yet.

Fives Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Perhaps soon we'll see an in depth review of the Warg set. I'd love to see the Wargs, Dwarves and Yazneg in detail.
HawkLord Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) I can confirm that Freddies does indeed have the Hobbit sets in. I was able to get Riddles, Wargs (x2), and the Goblin King sets. They had about two or three copies of each out. Here's pricing for those interested: Riddles for the Ring: $9.99 / on sale for $7.99 Attack of the Wargs: $49.99 / on sale for $39.99 The Goblin King Batlle: $89.99 / on sale for $71.99 Edit: Just opened Riddles and it comes with two Rings. Now Bilbo and Gollum don't need to have a contest, they can each have a ring. Edited November 11, 2012 by Hawkman
just2good Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) Aw, yes! I was right! The 2013 LEGO Reform is gonna bring us $10 licensed sets! Edited November 10, 2012 by just2good
CMP Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Only 90 for Goblin King? These are surprisingly good value sets, especially for a licensed theme.
