Gryphon Ink Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I'm not arguing against more Ringwraiths, I just think a small set based on the chase scene alone is a little shallow. I mean what are we building here exactly? A tree made up of 8 pieces? Its a glorified battlepack and I think most would rather be army building orcs and uruk hai than Nazgul. I think its better to space them out in the larger sets. Well, Arwen is a big draw, and if they follow the Star Wars pattern of releasing so-so sets with one iconic, must-have figure in them, that's a set right there. I hope they don't do that, though. But seriously, I would buy a smallish set with mounted Arwen, Frodo, two Nazgul, a tree or two and the river, which would have to include a play feature to smash the ringwraiths away. The problem with that is you can't get two minifigs on a horse, so I don't really know that they'd do it. And I agree that it's not exactly the most compelling set they could do - but they are bound to include Arwen at some point, and really she only has one action scene they can use. Which leads us to the next point... Rivendell can easily have another 2 Nazgul and still include Arwen, Elrond, Bilbo and 1-2 Fellowship characters. Rivendell can only logically include Nazgul if they include the riverside conclusion to that chase scene. Aside from that, the Nazgul never got anywhere near Rivendell. Rivendell's safety is one of its defining aspects. Thats 8 of the 9 taken care off which only leaves the Witch-King, who will most likely appear in a set based on his confrontation with Eowyn (a much more iconic scene than Arwen's chase) Agree on that. That is a set that MUST appear at some point.
Saruman the White Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 What are the chanses of seeing sets from The Hobbit at the february Toy Fair? The Lotr ones are almsot guaranteed to be there right? LOTR sets shall be there but as for the hobbit sets there is a chance. One can only hope they will make an appearance. If people are wanting more nazgul then I think Minas Morgul would be a good set to include them but it would be very expensive but at least it would be more exciting than the Nazgul chasing Arwen scene, the figure would be good but there's not much else to that kind of a set.
Seaber Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 What are the chanses of seeing sets from The Hobbit at the february Toy Fair? The Lotr ones are almsot guaranteed to be there right? I guess it's possible they'll slip Bilbo or Thorin in, like they did with Jack Sparrow as a sort of 'trailer'. It'd be great to see some sets, but isn't February a bit early to show scenes from a film coming out in December (from the film makers point of view) ?
Saruman the White Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I don't think the Orc forge is a rumour any more, now that brickset has it listed as a set for next year. It's possible that saruman could make an appearance in this set which will full fill many peoples hopes.

deskp Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 but isn't February a bit early to show scenes from a film coming out in December (from the film makers point of view) ? I would think so for most movies, but many people have alrady read the book and know most of the story. I would think it doubtfull though since its bsiacaly the second wave of the lotr/hobbit theme, and i dont think they usualy reveal wave 2 at same time as wave 1?
Ash Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Well, Arwen is a big draw.... I go the Blu-Rays with my Christmas Amazon vouchers and was suprised how heavily she featured on the packaging. The seperate boxes for each film have this little protrait of some characters on them and instead of the Fellowship (which to be fair only lasts a single film) it is Sam, Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Arwen.

Of course... otherwise it's sexist. I have a set of collectible glasses; there were four of them: Aragorn, Gandalf, Frodo, and Arwen. Is she really the fourth (or in the top four) most important person in the movie?
Nicker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I would like to make a suggestion here that I think many would hopefully agree with. I personally don't think any LOTR topics should be discussed to any length beyond mention in the "Historic Themes" forums since the LOTR has no more to do with Castle and other historic themes than Harry Potter or Prince of Persia do and there happens to be a special separate forum for discussing all licensed themes which is what the LOTR them is. It would be nice to have some of these LOTR threads moved to their appropriate forum so it does not dilute and pollute the "Historic Themes" forum where Castle, Western and Viking themes are discussed. Does this suggestion make sense to anyone else here besides me?

Jack Bricker Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 The characters that I am most looking forward to are the ents if Lego makes them. I don't care whether they are brickbuilt or molded I just want some really cool looking tree people. And I hope that Lego does do Sauron both as an eye and in his physical form. That would be just too awesome. P.S. LOTR obviously fits in the historic forum because it is medieval fantasy based on traditional Medieval myth like Beowulf. Also, the 2007 fantasy era Castle theme was also put in the historic forum so I think the Moderators made a good choice. Besides this has already been discussed into the ground already.
Odin's son Fred Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Is she really the fourth (or in the top four) most important person in the movie? I would guess she was included because Liv Tyler is a more recognizable actor than most of the other cast members (or because someone in the marketing department thought including her more would get him a date with her).

Yes Harry Potter may have a castle in it but it's still not set at the same time period to be put in this particular theme and obviously it has nothing to do with medival times and the same goes for prince of Persia.
BTappel Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I don't think the Orc forge is a rumour any more, now that brickset has it listed as a set for next year. It's possible that saruman could make an appearance in this set which will full fill many peoples hopes. I think orc forge will definitely contain Saruman. In all of the LOTR preliminary images there are only generic bad guys, but no main ones. The nazgul are kind of main bad guys... but since it looks like the leader of the nine is not singled out in any set, I am going to say they are generic. Anyways where I am going with this is that LOTR is an epic tale just like star wars and needs a main bad guy included in the sets. The fact that there are also some of Sarumans orcs in these sets supports my suspicions.
Elander Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 ... I prefer more army building sets without main characters. What do I want with 4x Eomers or Sarumans. Why isn't Eomer gone into the Helm's Deep set? Why should Saruman go into the "Orc Forge"? This set sounds like a fantastic army building set. Saruman could go into the Orthanc tower. There he would get a nice place at the red shiny Plantir (glass ball).

Fingers crossed it will be a set in wave two.

Attack on Weathertop $45 Gandalf Arrives $12 Shelob Attacks $18 The Battle of Helms Deep $117 Mines of Moria $72 Uruk-hai Army $26 Most of those are on sale, the actual prices are far worse. I refuse to believe $30 will be charged for the Uruk-hai Army. That's not overpriced, that's just downright ridiculous.

Saruman the White Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Such a shame that the website you found those prices at doesn't have the Orc forge.
