Doesn't Barnes & Noble usually charge a little more than other places like a Lego Store, Target or Wal-Mart?

Actually, it's usually a little less, although often by only a few cents.

The detail in helms deep should be really good because of the piece count but I'm most looking forward to seeing what the finalised image of attack on weathertop looks like because I was shocked when I found out it had 430 pices when I thought it had only 250-300 pieces by looking at the preliminary image.

303$ for the whole theme doesent sound that bad, I know the prices will increase for europe and other place, but still.

I hope that we will see this summer a massive 120-170$/130-180€ exclusive set.

Maybe the Orthanc tower or Rivendell...

Than would be the complete price (inclusive "The Orc Forge" (number 9476)) increase to $450-500. And that were just the first wave. *oh2*

Hey,

I've got a thought!

Maybe, ...maybe we get really the Orthanc tower. And the mystery "Orc Forge" (number 9476) based of Isengard. Than we could get a nice Isengard landscape with tower and orc forge. :excited:

Those prices are reasonable and similar to what castle sets have been priced at over the last few years.

Now I have to decide how many uruk sets to get. 50 seems like a decent amount for a 200 figure uruk-hai army and 100 fig Rohan army.

...I would wait for impulse sets. :classic:

What do you want with 50x Eomers?

Hey,

I've got another thought!

50 sets???

5000 castel minifigs????

daaamn, I am happy you are not part of Historica (as far as I know). As war is becoming more and more a certainty, I am happy I'll never have to face your army! :p

Last count for me was around 100 man and I am planning of buying 20 Kendo Cole's (5$ each) and 20 Jay ZX (5$ each) to make 2 elite armies.

but seriously, daaaaaaaaaaaaamn 5000 minifigs???

Isn't that $323? But no, that doesn't sound too bad at all - though that's not the whole theme (or even the whole first year), just the launch wave. There'll be additional sets just months later when The Hobbit comes out (and undoubtedly more sets from the trilogy and possibly the new movie in the summer of next year, and then more sets from the next movie when it comes out near the end of next year, and perhaps a wave or two or three after that...).

Regarding B&N: I wouldn't get TOO excited about being able to pre-order these sets. Folks over in the Pirate forum did a lot of pre-ordering for POTC and all of their pre-orders got cancelled, with no explanation given.

Personally, I'd wait and score them on sale at TRU, Target, Walmart, or whatever brick and mortar store you shop in. Or, at least wait until B&N has them IN STOCK and then pick them up when they have one of their 30% off coupons available.

JMO.

Yeah, pre-ordering at Barnes and Noble is a really, really bad idea. A lot of the Pirate fans got burned because they did that. Usually TRU gets the sets first followed by the official Lego store and once in a while Target will get them pretty early too, at least in my area. :classic:

@DaMaximus No I am not a part of the guilds. I have a massive castle layout 40" x 22' so far and I spend my spare time trying to finish it up properly. Most of my figs wouldn't have fit in well with guilds anyway. They are arranged on baseplates with heraldry and all for each of the LEGO factions released over the last 25 years. The color scheme of most is off and there are too many to modify on the fly. And then I would have to change them all back. I just don't have the spare time.

However, I am thinking about building a display piece of terrain for my armies. It would leave blank spots for me to place the armies on for photography. I have never put photos of my armies online and I probably should. Those who have come to brickworld have seen them in past years.

I might wait for the impulse sets. However, I have waited in the past hoping for a better army builder and gotten burned. It looks like a pretty good parts set anyway. Last but not least. IMHO, I don't think that is Eomer. If it is I doubt we are going to get a seperate helmet for him and the other riders so I want a lot of Riders anyway. I just need to swap out some heads.

A new LOTR poster has appeared, featuring the new Aragorn figure.

The new sword looks great, and so does the figure. I hope there'll be 7 more posters, for each of the Fellowship, so we'll always have those until the sets are out.

Here it is:

Ninja'd. Or in this case, Aragorn'd.

I figured that it had only just appeared on the net.

Deeplinked picture is on the previous page, for those who missed out on it.

This pretty much confirms that there will be more waves to come (other than those others for 'The Hobbit'),

since the only ROTK set we've seen so far would have to be Shelob's Lair.

I don't think the poster confirms anything, nor do I think that it is a correct assumption that we will get one for each of the fellowship. I think LEGO was merely copying the Return of the King poster as a bit of fun promotion:

Just as they copied a Fellowship poster for the first LotR image.

They did a similar thing with the Harry Potter film posters. I think it's likely we might see a LEGO-fied version of each film's poster.

I very much doubt they're gonna picture a new figure and a mold on a poster to end up saying "Sorry guys, you won't be getting this as a figure, we're done here now."

It might be that they'll do LEGO versions of each of the posters,

but I really don't think they're going to refrain from using the figures and parts shown in them for a new theme that still has alot of potential to keep on going for several more years. I don't think they'll use Anduril in Helm's Deep, as Aragorn only just got it in ROTK. But perhaps.

Holy Hobbits!!!! That is amazing! The face is so perfect, and this also confirms that Anduril has its own mold!

I you are right but I'm not getting too excited until I see Anduril in plastic form, not just in a picture.

The face looks awesome. The poster is really neat. I can't wait to see more.

And I will welcome new sword molds with open arms..or maybe armored arms so I don't get cut up.

It would be pretty stupid and upsetting if LEGO showed us this fig with a new piece but have no intention of making it. The Frodo fig has a new hairpiece, and they wouldn't fake that, so I have a feeling that this is an official piece, and possibly only one of many to come...

I was also thinking, it would be really great if LEGO released pics like this over the next few months to promote the theme, with each poster having a new character. Maybe the next one will be Gandalf, and then Sam, then Merry and Pippin together, Legolas and Gimli together, then Boromir, maybe Theoden, and then Gollum.
