Fives Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I really was hoping the LOTR site was slowly going to reveal the new figs, like the HP and POTC sites did. They just had the silhouettes of the characters and every few days or weeks, a couple more figs were revealed. That would have been ideal for the teaser site for this theme.
Wardancer Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I hope the new horse moulds don't have these empty hollow legs the normal horses have, but i guess that's not gonna happen. Why are these necessary anyway?
Haltiamieli Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I hope the new horse moulds don't have these empty hollow legs the normal horses have, but i guess that's not gonna happen. Why are these necessary anyway? Probably not necessary per ce, but at least it does save quite a lot of material.
Piranha Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Why are these necessary anyway? Because their cool and epic
General Magma Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I hope the new horse moulds don't have these empty hollow legs the normal horses have, but i guess that's not gonna happen. Why are these necessary anyway? The new molds were probably to resemble prancing horses, as well as giving them the ability to seem like they're running when placed on their forelegs. Probably because it seems necessary with the LOTR theme, as many scenes from the movies involved horses in quick-speed, such as the Charge of the Rohirrim in Helm's Deep, or on the Pelennor Fields, to name some examples. It's actually a great idea, but I hope that they will fit in with the old horses regardless of their positions. ~ General Magma
Piranha Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 also each new licensed theme gets so many new parts like POTC had quite a few like buckets, bottles etc.
Wardancer Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Why are these necessary anyway? I should clarify: These = horse legs that show an open hollow side I am absolutely looking forward to the prancing horses.
Piranha Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I also see two downsides, One is that we don't get a regular tan horse. And the other is bardings won't fit on them most likely. But I still think they are great.
LEGOman273 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I also see two downsides, One is that we don't get a regular tan horse. And the other is bardings won't fit on them most likely. But I still think they are great. Why not? The only difference is that the legs are in a different position.

But I still think they are great. I think a regular barding might look a bit odd on a prancing horse. A real horse barding, made from fabric, would fall into wrinkles and different angles on a prancing horse. The regular Lego horse barding would defy gravity if used for that and sort of destroy the dynamics.
Piranha Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I should clarify: These = horse legs that show an open hollow side I am absolutely looking forward to the prancing horses. TLG does it to save money and material after all no one is looking inside the horses leg . Quality issue? maybe... Why not? The only difference is that the legs are in a different position. Since the barding is static and the head or legs might be of a different width or so but hopefully they won't since TLG tries hard to make things compatible. I think a regular barding might look a bit odd on a prancing horse. A real horse barding, made from fabric, would fall into wrinkles and different angles on a prancing horse. The regular Lego horse barding would defy gravity if used for that and sort of destroy the dynamics. Yes I know what you meant as the barding is static but I will save my opinion until I see one or even if it is going to be possible.
Yacapo Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Can't wait for this! But I wish they weren't pale!
LEGOman273 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I think a regular barding might look a bit odd on a prancing horse. A real horse barding, made from fabric, would fall into wrinkles and different angles on a prancing horse. The regular Lego horse barding would defy gravity if used for that and sort of destroy the dynamics. On a running horse it would look fine. Also, how is this different than the old horses rearing on box art? (In terms of static barding)
Artanis I Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Re static barding: Also, minifig hair doesn't move when a figure bends over or anything, so it's no big deal.
BTappel Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Anyone going to the toy fair tomorrow?! If so, please give us some much needed intel on this awesome theme.
deskp Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Anyone going to the toy fair tomorrow?! If so, please give us some much needed intel on this awesome theme. The little text on toy fair site doesent mention Lotr or marvel sets, It highlights Jabbas palace, ninjago and batcave.
Dwellington Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 That's just what they've told us. They're saving it for a surprise! ... ...Oh please, dear God, let them be saving it for a surprise...

andhe Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) How's this for news? Taken at the London Toy fair by http://www.blogomatic3000.com/2012/01/24/toyfair-2012-lego-avengers-lego-lord-of-the-rings-and-universal-monsters/#.Tx7IUIFKS0M (image removed - if you want to see it you need to go to the guys blog) The lego fellowship! Is it just me, or does the legolas figure ACTUALLY look like Orlando Bloom?! Edited January 24, 2012 by andhe
Plissken Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 How's this for news? http://www.blogomatic3000.com/2012/01/24/toyfair-2012-lego-avengers-lego-lord-of-the-rings-and-universal-monsters/#.Tx6rcoFKS0N The lego fellowship! Wow! These are absolutely stunning. The Hobbits are great, as is the new ring mold. Boromir looks fantastic. The figures alone justify this line. This is a winner
Orange Leader Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Really like the print on Ghimli's helmet. Nice to have four different coloured 'hobbit' hair pieces.
MattTheLegoman Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The name he goes by in the mannish languages is Gimli. The quality of these minifigs is astounding. I am looking out for the evil character's to go with them though. Which currently only includes the fighting Uruk-hai, Moria Goblins, and a Cave Troll, which will be great for this first line of LEGO Lord of the Rings!
Algernon Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Oh my god I want them all. Also, this answers our question as to how LEGO will be doing the Ring. Edited January 24, 2012 by Algernon
General Magma Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Woah! These look really amazing! And guess what, I was right about olive green being used on Legolas. Looks like I wasn't wrong about the ring either. New mold it is. I wasn't completely sure if I should get all the sets or just buy the figures, but hey, I'm just buying the sets as well. I can already say that LOTR will be the best theme in LEGO history. ~ General Magma
Darth Nihilus Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Absolutely stunning! I can't believe that there is actually a new mold for the Hobbit hair, I was sure it would be just the Dastan hair. Sam and Gimli look amazing, I can't wait for these sets to be released.
