Captain Blockbeard Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I'm uncertain if I would buy a series of modular western town sets, but I greatly appreciate seeing a non-licensed concept of this quality reaching the 10,000 mark. For a set based on this, I would settle for something akin to the Medieval Market Village with two structures of higher detail than typical Lego sets while not quite attaining the extreme detail (and associated price) of a full modular set. I agree with this. We could get two of the buildings rather than one. I would think this would be more likely, and too me a better deal. I already have too big of a lego budget to keep adding an extra 150$ a year for one western modular. Edited May 13, 2012 by The Blue Brick Quote
BrickQueen Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I'm so glad this project reached 10,000 votes. I supported it on my YouTube channel a couple weeks ago. =) Quote
Flipz Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Big congrats to MB! I believe that the model stands a good chance for the review, at least I hope it does.. Not only for MB but also for the whole CUUSOO initiative as I don't think the AFOL world would really forgive a no-go on this one. Agreed. I, for one, am looking forward to some sets with lots of brown and tan bricks; while the model is gorgeous, I'm more interested in the sets as parts packs for my own MOCs. Quote

Completely agree, making it similar to MMV would make it cheap enough stand a chance as a theme. Quote
Wrinkledog Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Congrats! Such an inspired idea! I am keeping my fingers crossed that Lego makes this into a series! Quote

Great...now you've done it. I was very much on board with the Modular idea. But now that you mention it, a MMV-esque Western set would be awesome! Two buildings with little bits added to it would be extremely hard to pass up. Quote
just2good Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) lEGO posted this video to their Facebook! Does this mean LEGO approved it? Edited May 29, 2012 by just2good Quote
LEGOman273 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 LEGO posted this video to their Facebook! *SNIP* Does this mean LEGO approved it? I think so, as they didn't do this for any other CUUSOO model. Quote
prateek Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Haha, that made me giggle in excitement. Congrats again MB! Quote
purpleparadox Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I. Am. So. EXCITED! Glad that TLG is going through with this one, it's really awesome. I was pretty sure they'd do it or AFOLs would lose faith in the system but this just makes me that much more sure. I can't wait for the return of the wild west! Quote
Hewman Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I'm going to assume this means the project has now got the green light from Lego which is great news. Otherwise if it was pulled after teasing us with this, that would be one big kick in the teeth to all those that supported this project, and I don't think TLG want to do that. Also, given they're showing the whole layout, I wonder if they're considering amking all components of the set, conditional on the sales figures of the first one I assume though. I think I'd prefer them to release these gradually, although that would jack up shipping costs considerably for those in countries with very high shipping costs from Shop at Home compared to selling the whole street in one big hit. Legobrandon Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Could they possibly be doing *another* micro-scale Cuusoo model? You know, with the mini version (landscape) of the set near the end. Quote
Haltiamieli Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) Hold your horses, the cavalry hasn't arrived yet! That Youtube video is made by Marshal_banana himself and Lego Cuusoo just posted a link to it on Facebook. They also posted a link to DeTomaso's Flickr feed a few hours earlier, but I don't think that means they have accepted his British Birds project (currently at 1266 supporters) either. There's certainly some goodwill towards MWT from the Lego Cuusoo runners, but nothing is set in stone – the review stage hasn't even started yet. Edited May 29, 2012 by Haltiamieli Quote

Exactly what I was thinking - it is not a traditional Lego style and the models were identical. It is however a nice teaser for the 'story'. Quote
natesroom Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 this stinks cause now i'm gonna have to buy this when it comes out... I've tried to limit my self to historic only themes, but the superheros stuff is to good to pass up and now western is coming back. Quote
gedren_y Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but I just re-checked the page and this may be news: The page no longer has the unclickable support button, but now has an unclickable Buy button! I also would like to add my belated congrats to Marshal_banana. gedren_y Quote

purpleparadox Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I hope (assuming this does get made) that the torsos will be compatible with flesh minifigs instead of just yellow ones. What were most of the old Wild West torsos like? Quote
The Cobra Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Western figs had yellow hands and heads (see Brickset gallery). Since this wouldn't be a licensed set, I don't think it'd come with flieshies. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I think he just means the torsos not having yellow on them so they can be cross-compatible. I believe that really is the best way to go about most torsos so both "fleshies" and "yellows" can be represented by the fans that prefer one over the other. I can't wait to see what happens with this. I would be very excited for a return of the Wild West. Quote

I knew the heads/hands would be yellow, I'm just hoping the torsos don't have any yellow skin on them. It's the best way to go with most torsos (excluding shirtless ones). Quote
David Thomsen Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) If I go to the 'Official LEGO Comments' section of the cuusoo page, it says the next review will be held in 'June'. This comment was posted in May. Does anyone know what's happening with the project? Has it been rejected or is the review just taking that long? This and the Portal sets are the ones I'm most likely to buy. Edited October 16, 2012 by David Thomsen Quote
