September 8, 201311 yr I've just created an account here, but having had browsed for a while, I can see the obvious benefit of an app, free or no; though I would be happy to pay. I like the forum, private messaging and message alerts ideas. What kind of phone do you use for browsing EB on the road? Cause like Andy D said a couple of posts earlier, the mobile version on iPhone and Androids works pretty well already; plus you can always switch into full version if necessary.
September 25, 201311 yr How do you get the mobile version? As with IE mobile or UC Browser the forum seems similar to the normal one, not especially optimized. Is the switch automatic in Safari/Chrome or do you have to click something ?

Is the switch automatic in Safari/Chrome or do you have to click something ? In Safari it should automatically show the mobile version, but if not at the bottom of the forums there should be an option that says 'Use Mobile Version' or something. EDIT: I don't know if that's the same for Chrome, though. Edited September 26, 201311 yr by Leo Crimson
September 27, 201311 yr It seems that the link is visible on the full version when you switch from the mobile version, but I can't get the mobile version in the first place. Possibly IE mobile isn't recognized as a mobile browser? User agent is: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows Phone 8.0; Trident/6.0; IEMobile/10.0; ARM; Touch; NOKIA; Lumia 620) in case that detection is configurable by forum admins... September 30, 201311 yr Most of the forum works fine for me on my tablet. Including images can be a pain in the bottom though. I really don't care for specialized apps to view special sites. I use Safari on my iPad or iPhone and it works well. Also whn using a custom app, I am not sure how following links to other non-forum sites would work. In short I would prefer to use Safari and have he forum just scale to he browser be it tablet, phone or computer. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D I second this!
October 4, 201311 yr Personally I would like to have a Eurobricks App if only for ease of access , but the mobile version works quite well. The only problem is that you are unable to post emotion-face-thingies unless you know the code.

I'd like to have one has well however it would be a lot for the moderators and admins, it would be nice though to be able to upload pictures directly on to EB.
October 4, 201311 yr it would be nice though to be able to upload pictures directly on to EB. We've stressed countless times that EB is not a photo-hosting site, which is why that functionality is disabled for non-staff members other than a small attachment space. Having an EB app would not change this.
October 4, 201311 yr Do you or another admin have access to the config of the mobile skin? It seems that as IPBoard do not make that list themselve, it is up to the site admin to add mobile user agents assigned to the mobile skin: http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/lo-fi-user-agents-r20950 (by default it was taking only Safari, I guess Chrome was added later) As shown in the user agent I posted earlier, in case of Windows Phone the check can be simply made on "IEMobile" to include all versions.

YES. This needs to happen on the current Safari Eurobricks. SO ANNOYING.
October 5, 201311 yr Creating the app would be a pretty simple process for any experienced Apple/PHP developer, however getting the product onto the App store would be a problem because licensing the program costs money and I doubt Apple would except an app made specifically for a single forum. Targeting Android would be much easier and cheaper, but hardly anyone uses an android. It's all about the iPhone these days. *checks 2008 flip phone*
October 5, 201311 yr It's the other way around. Creating the app will be quite some work, even for an experienced developer. Releasing the app will be the easy part. Developer license is around 100 bucks a year. And Apple will accept such an app, for sure. Your comment about Android isn't true either. Development will roughly take as much time and there are lots of people using Android nowadays.
October 7, 201311 yr I hate to beat a dead horse but this has been discussed in the past and fairly recently and it's just not cost effective for us to create an app. The mobile version of the site works very well and with every passing day phones and tablets are getting more and more advanced to the point that an app would be obsolete in a few years. I don't know of a single person who has a phone that can't handle the full EB site. That's not to say you must have a fancy new phone, but the number of people who do is rising, therefore eliminating the prime user base of the app.
October 7, 201311 yr The mobile version of the site works very well A small change in the settings of the mobile theme could be done to include IEmobile too, though
October 7, 201311 yr A small change in the settings of the mobile theme could be done to include IEmobile too, though I'll pass this along to the admins, as I'm not sure how to do this nor do I likely have access.
October 12, 201311 yr An app is completely unnecessary when the mobile theme works as well as it does with this site, excluded browsers like the mentioned above nonwithstanding. There's just no point. An app would look almost identical to the mobile theme.
October 22, 201311 yr I view EB on iPhone and iPad and have no issues, on the iPhone I switch to the full version simply because I much prefer it over the mobile version.
November 24, 201311 yr Tapatalk is now free so that is a quick solution. I use it for forums that are not mobile friendly but it would be nice to centralize all my forum access to one app.
November 25, 201311 yr I'll pass this along to the admins, as I'm not sure how to do this nor do I likely have access. No progress on the admin-side? (for adding IEmobile to the mobile theme criteria)
February 26, 201411 yr An app would be nice, although the mobile version does work well. One thing I would like to see on the mobile EB site is being able to skip to the first and last pages instead of clicking the next button a bunch of times. (Hint hint admins) Edit: and emotion face things. If on mobile you cans only do this. :) Edited February 26, 201411 yr by arc

(Hint hint admins) Edit: and emotion face things. If on mobile you cans only do this. :) You could do that by clicking the full site and quickly doing that, or pressing on the topic, as it leads you to the last post since you last have read the topic. Also, emoticons can be done on mobile, but you have to type them out. That's why I remember the necessary ones by heart.
February 26, 201411 yr Do you know how to get back to the mobile site? I couldn't for the life of me find it out. Edited February 26, 201411 yr by arc
February 26, 201411 yr Do you know how to get back to the mobile site? I couldn't for the life if me find it out. You have to go on any mobile device to this site. I'm not sure it's a specific URL, so you can't really check on the computer.
