Daiman Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) So This has probably been seen by most of you... I hadn,t been so involved in Eurobricks much but frequent it often. This one was built over a couple of months mainly due to bricklink orders and family obligations. There is a tentative CUUSOO http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/15138 or search Daiman...I don't know if I get this yet. but I really think TLG would go for the solid model on this one and why not, they do a great job of them. It seems to me that there are some new builders at large within, along with some tried and true sculpters who are redefining the mantle they rest on. The new hero sets are much more robust with the extra use of plates and all of the new creatures from town to space have a lot of added ZING to them. Flickr is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/31210694@N06/ and MOC Pages is here http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/320554 Hope to see you there. D. Edited May 16, 2012 by Brickdoctor Embedded a photo. TenorPenny Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 This is a terrific model. Not entirely in TLG's wheelhouse, as perhaps demonstrated by their use of more clicky-hinges for recent monsters, but I have no doubt that this is a model they should branch out into, as it represents an iconic monster perfectly. Combee Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Wow, what a great model! I love it and it looks very accurate. Quote
Mr Man Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 My good, this is nice . The legs look a little unfeasible compared to the rest of the build, but good job. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Nice work. I love the fact that this model captures all the organic curves and textures of the rancor, yet it seems very solid at its core. The short tail looks odd to me, but I'm interested to see where you go with that as you update this model for CUUSOO. Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 The best looking most playable Rancor I’ve seen! Very cool! Good luck on CUUSOO, I think the kids would love this set. Quote
The Joker1 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Nice job.It is a bit too big to fit in with the new jabbas palace but I would still buy one. Quote
Fighter of Frizzies Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I agree with BD's comment about the tail, I don't know if fixing it will make the whole of the body less boxy (but possibly less sturdy). But quibbles, quibbles, this is an amazing model. I have hoped that Lego would give us a brick-built Rancor and your model proves how great it can look. Quote
Daiman Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks for the feedback folks and I am in agreement with those of you that commented on the legs. A little bit of a let down but I was excited to finish something and running out of Brown...again and couldnt wait another two weeks for bricklink. I am currently in redign mode for the whole lower half now that I have it out of my system. Thanks again. Quote
JackJonespaw Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 This looks great! The head looks remarkably like its in-movie self. Nice job! Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 It's official: this is my all time favorite Rancor model! Quote
The Blue Brick Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Very nice. I love the textured pieces on the arm. It makes it much more realistic. The functionality is a plies too. It would be interesting if Lego would release one like this. It would be so cool. Quote
optimus99 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Hey I saw this on Cuusoo and voted for it. I think It would be awesome if Lego made this. Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Whoa, excellent shaping! The colors and parts all go together very well, I would love to see this in some sort of larger Dio! Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Your Rancor is awesome. Amazing MOC you've done. Edited May 17, 2012 by Bilbo Baggins Quote

Daiman Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Ha! thanks folks it's a shame that this one is in bits around my living area as I work on refining the LXF file. Not to worry it will live again and with new pics. Quote

Flipz Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Hah, that's awesome Daiman! Great 3D effect! I've been supporting this on CUUSOO ever since I first saw it--I'd definitely like to see one of these bad boys as an official set. Quote
SheepEater Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) Love it! Now what I wanna see is the Rancor slowly devouring that helpless green skinned slave girl (Oola) now that she has a minifig. We don't even get to see that in the movie! Edited June 27, 2012 by SheepEater Quote
