Posted May 16, 201212 yr I'm building a scaled-down model of my own house, but our internal doors are white opaque wood and should not have see-through panes in them, so the doors sold on S@H are not suitable. On bricklink, I see this door and this door, which would be suitable, but they cost £1.50 each. I need about 14 doors, so am looking for a cheaper alternative for now. I have considered making all my internal doors 2-wide, so I can use those old 2x4x5 frames, but I would prefer not to lose the floor space. So, does anyone have any self-built opaque doors they want to share? Edited May 16, 201212 yr by Sabrien Reed
May 16, 201212 yr Author There are THESE white doors at a much cheaper price They're the ones that only fit the 2x4x5 frames though. :(
May 16, 201212 yr The cheapest ones of the second door you show, comes to about 30 cents. That is in trans clear and including the frame. I wonder where you came up with 1,50, you'd be getting ripped off.

Bedroom doors tend not to be see-through :) You can order the trans clear from S@H for 22p each. The white version of those trans clear ones is only available in one set: The Police Mobile Unit.
May 16, 201212 yr Are you a purist? Because I would simply get the trans doors and paint. Tape off handles, thin edges and hinge studs, so that the paint doesn't interfere with the actual working of the door or the placement of doorknobs.

I'm not a purist, in the Lego sense, so painting the trans-clear ones to look like woodwork would work :D I'd still love to hear if anyone has built their own doors though. I guess hinge parts like this would work, but I will end up with quite chunky doors.
May 16, 201212 yr Why dont you buy the Blue version of that door and paint it white? Those are going for 10c - 25c you would have to pay shipping costs.. though
May 20, 201212 yr I've done static doors (not openable) like this: http://www.suave.net/~dave/tmp/bm/shots/design4de_facade1.jpg And I've done openable (but not paneled) doors like this: http://www.suave.net/~dave/images/parv/building/parv_door.gif But I feel your pain! It's been a long-standing gripe of mine that there aren't many good interior doors without windows in minifig scale! The vertical panel doors are ~OK~... And at least there's the solid 1x4x6 door now (although it only came in one set, and only in white, so it's pretty pricey!) DaveE

DaveE I knew there would be someone else out there who was having the same issue as me. I like your openable door, but it takes a lot of pieces that I might not have. I have considered using stickers to cover the panes, and I might try paint.
