Posted May 19, 201212 yr APC: Built on the same line as the Earth Defense HQ, the armored personnel carrier shares many features with its larger sibling thereby, reducing cost and easing the logistics chain by use of common spares. It is equipped with a modular turret which can be switched out depending on mission requirements. This variant boasts twin independent rail guns, a surface to air missile suite and a targeting/tracking radar. The cockpit has been modified to include a medic station and a diagnostic scanner for treating wounded troops. The crew compartment is equipped with a holographic display, communications gear and is capable of accommodating up to six assault troops. Jetcopter Mk II: An evolution of the original design, the Mk II has traditional swept wings for faster flight. The engines have been relocated to increase survivability and to reduce damage from ingestion of debris during takeoff and landing. All alien containment equipment has been removed reducing overall weight and increasing patrol time. The Mk II is pure predator. Mobile Automated Gun System (MAGS) The MAGS or “Maggie” as she is known by the troops is an autonomous ground vehicle capable of operating independently or in conjunction with ground forces. Equipped with a high powered laser cannon and sensor suite the MAGS can quickly bring the fight to the enemy or act as a scout.
May 19, 201212 yr Some nice upgrades for the ADU forces! hehe the "medic" was my favourite addition. And Maggie is adorable
May 19, 201212 yr Nice "Expanded Universe" ADU MOCs, love 'em! The APC is my favorite, good idea using the basic aesthetic/footprint of the EDHQ.
May 19, 201212 yr Very good, I like the MAGS little vehicle. I had not thought of an autonomous vehicle for them before, it is a good idea.
May 19, 201212 yr Awesome great stuff. Looks like we also have the same vision of integrating the ADU with the LEGO CMFs Space Marines, etc.
May 19, 201212 yr That's quite an upgrade! The truck looks much better now, I really like that cannon.
May 19, 201212 yr Author Thanks for the comments. Other than a couple of detail parts I took from an ADU Defender, the APC is built entirely from the bags of parts allocated for the EDHQ build. It is a shame the Alien Conquest line is going away since it is largely responsible to dragging me back into Lego. It has been over 20 years since I sat down with a bunch of parts wondering what I could make from them.
May 20, 201212 yr I love these! I've been trying to work through that same sort of idea for the APC, and yours came out way better than mine. Nicely done. I love what you did to the jet copter. I'm still trying to figure out a way to replace that alien pod area with a troop carrier of some sort.
May 20, 201212 yr Love the APC! Those Galaxy Patrol figs really do work well with AC. That "Maggie" is truly awesome.
May 23, 201212 yr As I said above I really love that APC. I hope you dont mind if I borrow a few of your concepts to make one? Because that is just too perfect for any ADU scene. Once question that I had. By my rough eyeballing you should have ended up with around enough materials to make a small 4 wheeled module with no cockpit or rear ramp. Did it seem feasible to put the male and female trailer attachments on it, and slip it into the main EDHQ truck as a third middle module? Maybe as a radar and tracking truck to support the Viper? My other thoughts for my in development ADU scene is to conscript a few of those chunky Dino Trucks in to do duty as the ADU Alien Crash Recovery team. I just need a few more guys in Haz Mat suits.

Feel free to use whatever you like. I can take additional pictures if there is any particular part you would like to see. There were two blue and two dark grey 6X10 plates left over. I doubled up the main beam that the wheels are mounted to on the truck so that would leave you short on a trailer. Otherwise there are enough parts left over if you wanted to do something simple. I don’t see any issue with mounting the male/female hitch pieces. Unfortunately I just mixed the leftovers in with some other parts otherwise I’d snap a picture of what was left.

I actually just found 2 EDF HQ sets at Barnes & Noble today at 40% off, so I happily started MOC'ing away tonight. I managed to cobble together what I am loosely thinking of as a heavy recon and response APC from one set, and managed to leave the two 6x10 plates and the two main beams to use for an additional trailer for the second set. I'm not sure if that will leave me enough blue parts for it. But hey, it's Lego and I'm making it up as I go. Thank you for the help and the inspiration.
May 24, 201212 yr Really nice job with those, my favorite is probably the upgraded Helicopter just because it was the sleek look of a aerial predator.
May 24, 201212 yr Once again thank you so much for the inspiration. This is how my take on the APC has come out so far. Looking at yours really helped me work out the wheel spacing and how to approach that transition from the front of the cab vehicle to the back of the trailer type structure. It holds a crew of 8. Driver, Gunner, 2 Electronic Warfare and Sensor Specialists and 4 Heavy Troopers. It's envisaged more as a Heavy Recon and Response truck, than as a direct combatant. Something to go find the Aliens, call in the major strike team, and fight its way out if necessary. I sort of had the "Mobile Units" from the old Gerry Anderson UFO TV series in mind when thinking about its job. (This is also probably why I have it staffed out with a trio of cobbled together semi custom "Angel"'s in matching red white and blue heavy armor. Plus a Lieutenant in his jaunty beret. Then again it could just have been that it was 3am and I was in a weird mood.) I also have enough parts to make a half height (or simply the bottom half) of a middle stage extra trailer for the full EDF HQ. Will definately need to Bricklink a bit to get it fully built up.

I didn't see this online so you must have found it "in-store". Really enjoying seeing the modifications to the EDHQ. Great work. I can picture a trailer fitted to launch the viper jet, carry that small recon vehicle, or other similar modular units.

The boxes are shelf worn a bit, but that means nothing to me as I am a builder not a collector and rarely keep boxes. I ended up paying $48 USD a piece for them, which made me very happy. April 14, 201311 yr Wow, these are fantastic! I ADORE the little "Maggie" unit, too! Any chance of an LDD or instructions to build one ourselves? Alien Conquest got me back into Lego again too, and I'm sad it didn't last even one more "wave". I've done a ton of scratch-built stuff for it in LDD and "real life" and never thought to post them publicly before! I don't know what it it about the theme that inspired me, but I've had a blast coming up with new models that keep the same aesthetic/design schemes of the Aliens and ADU. Cool to see more love for the ADU mobile HQ too... it was my favourite set of the line (I bought far too many of them as the line ended!) and I've been toiling away at my own modified "modular" version for a couple of weeks. Just thinking of trying Bricklink for the first time (!) to get some missing parts... Edited April 14, 201311 yr by Banjo
