Once again, the british newspaper The Sun are giving away free LEGO sets each day this week. I managed to get ym hands on a bunch of today's set, so thought I'd do a quick review.

BASIC INFORMATION:

Set Name: Star Destroyer

Set Number: 30056

Number of Pieces: 38

Minifigs: 0

Price: FREE with The Sun (30p)

Theme: Star Wars

Year Released: May 2012

RESOURCES:

BAG:

Front:

Like most 'free' sets. The model comes in a small sealed bag.

Back:

INSTRUCTIONS:

The instructions are printed on both sides of a small sheet. Including another neat image of the final model.

PIECES:

Considering it's only 38 pieces, this set is pretty useful, I can never have too many slanted plates, especially when building Star Wars MOCs.

FINAL PIECE:

Here it is. The final model. Very simple but as usual with these mini-scale models, it is very well thought out.

TOTALS: (No mark for price, as it was free)

Design: 10/10 Considering the scale I think it would be very difficult to beat this model. IT captures the shape and style of the vessel perfectly.

Parts: 9/10 Great pieces, but nothing really special.

Build: 9/10 Hard to criticize the build, very simple.

Playability: 8/10 Great playability, children can hold it fly it through the air, and if they drop it, small enough not to explode! :)

TOTAL: 36/40 I loved this set, I bought 5 of them. Great colours and really beautifully designed.

Great review and I totaly agree, this is really well thought out and is instantly recognisable

I also acquired 5; 1 to open & build, 1 to keep MISB, 1 for the nephew, 1 for the neighbour and 1 just in case ;)

Just out of curiosity, is this a similar kit that came with the UCS SSD?

I have 4492 and it looks like there are more pieces to that build that this one.
